Standing Nominating Committee Report AGM 2021 Status of Board Members In support of The RCR Association’s Standing Nominating Committee, the following report is submitted for consideration at the Annual General Meeting. At present the Board consists of 12 directors who have the indicated terms of service with expiration dates and where relevant have indicated a willingness to stand again for election. Name Expiry Status Anthony Jones AGM 2021 standing for re-election Denis Thompson AGM 2021 retiring Eric Christensen AGM 2022 Jim Simms AGM 2022 standing for re-election Mark Connolly AGM 2022 Rick Reid AGM 2022 Sandy McQuarrie AGM 2021 Plus, five Branch Presidents from the five largest branches who all expire but will be renewed IAW By-Law No. 1, Article 5.02(b) with one exception; • Jim Davis (Kingston), no change; • Don Denne (London), has retired and will be replaced by the next elected President of the Home Station London District Branch; • Geordie Elms (Toronto), no change; • Bob Near (Ottawa), no change; and • Leo Boyd (Edmonton), no change. Thus, there is but one opening for a new Director. The call for nominations went out on 1 February 2021. Additionally, the Standing Nominating Committee, which included me and Geordie Elms, canvassed a variety of suitable candidates. At the end of the process, John Redmon stood out as the most appropriate candidate from the committee’s perspective. Instead of the usual resume, I propose Geordie’s contemporary biographical sketch: “Nearly all of you know John. He is well known throughout The Regiment as perhaps the sharpest turnout of any officer ever to serve in our Regiment. John commanded the Ceremonial Guard. In retirement he has remained in Ottawa with his wife Lesley. They have two adult children. He divides his time between Orleans and their cottage in South Lancaster, and a business that he and a partner run in Jamaica, that grew from John’s time teaching at the Jamaican Staff College. 1

Standing Nominating Committee Report AGM 2021 Recently, to keep himself occupied in retirement, John has taken a part time job. He is the delivery driver in Eastern Ontario for Pelee Island Winery and spends two or three days a week travelling the roads in Eastern Ontario bringing happiness to restaurants, bars, legions and clubs across the region. Sounds like a bit of a dream job…a kitted-out delivery van and a couple of thousand bottles of wine! John would be a welcome addition to the Board, and having known him for over 50 years, it will be good to have him among us.” Thus, for the purposes of the AGM, I will present the four aforementioned branch presidents (making it plain that the fifth is awaiting a branch election) and John Redmon.
