A Selection of Different Shapes 1. ‘Oval Waisted’ Shape Teapot and Cover (with ‘Spiral Fluted’ or ‘Shankered’ moulding). Decorated in gilt with pattern number 2. Shows groups of leafy branches interspersed with small sprigs placed around the body, suspended from a concentric band of husks and spots with a gilt line above. A large spot flowerhead is placed on the neck. Gilt line to shoulder. Gilt edge and line, with gilded decoration on handle, spout and knob. Each diamond is lined in red, with pale green triangles to the top and suspended swags to the base of each intersection. The base edge of the diamond is formed from interlocking gilt leaves. Shows three reclining female figures, one with a scythe, another with a cornucopia and the third holding the looped end of an anchor rope with the anchor just visible. The cartouches are suspended from a gilt wavy line and linked by gilded cornhusk swags. The shoulder is decorated with a concentric band of cornhusk swags and the base with a concentric band of small swirls. Gilt edge, with additional gilding to handle, spout and knob. Shows a spray of pink, purple and red flowerheads and foliage, and supplementary leaf sprigs placed around the body. The outside border consists of a concentric line of purple flowerheads and green leaves, the inside border consists of a band of purple swags and spots under a black enamel line and with a plain purple concentric line interspersed with flowers below. Shows a Japan style design, with a central motif consisting of a blue tree lined in gilt standing on a hill, with orange, blue and gilt flowers, green leaves and a green fence. The outside design to cup consists of blue leaves lined in gilt, gilt leaves and red flowerheads. The inside design to cup

consists of panels with blue, orange and gilt flowers, green leaves and a small part of the green fence. Four orange panels run vertically through the design decorated with gilt flowers and green leaves. Gilt edge and line, with additional gilding to handle. Date: c. 1811-1814 Mark: 1016 (in gilt on base) L503.2 75. ‘Bute’ Shape Saucer. Decorated in underglaze blue with gilded pattern number 1255. Shows the Chinese-style ‘Pagodas’ print with Fitzhugh-type border. Gilded pattern number 1255 consisting of a leaf and shell concentric band suspended from a gilt line. Gilt edge and line. Date: c. 1812-1814 Mark: 1255 (in gilt on base) 2000.793 76. Saucer Dish or Plate of plain form. Decorated in overglaze enamel and gilt with pattern number 1272. Shows a Japan style design, the central motif consisting a blue geometric pattern surrounded by a gilt lattice. The main body design consists of four panels of orange leaves on blue branches lined in gilt and with gilded foliage. Interspersed with four blue panels running vertically through the design with gilded leaf decoration. Date: c. 1812-1814 Mark: 1272 (in iron-red on base) and a tally mark 2000.794 77. ‘Bucket’ Shape Teacup. Decorated in overglaze enamel and gilt with pattern number 1277. Shows a Japan style design. The central motif consists of an orange flower surrounded by four yellow buds. The inside design consists of a band of peach and yellow flowers, blue leaves and branches lined in gilt and yellow buds, with a blue border decorated with a wavy gilt line and with a gilt line below. The outside decoration consists of peach and yellow flowers and blue leaves and branches outlined in gilt. Gilt edge and line with additional gilding to handle. Date: c. 1812-1814 Mark: 1277 (in iron-red on base) and a tally mark 2000.795 78. ‘London’ Shape Coffee Cup. Decorated in overglaze enamel and gilt with pattern number 1300.

Shows an outside design consisting of a thin gilded line of waves and dots. The inside consists of gilt flowers and red dots, an under and over wavy line of green and yellow dots and gilt leaves with a gilt line below. Date: c. 1812-1814 Mark: 1300 (in iron-red on inner face of footring) and a tally mark 2000.796 79. ‘London’ Shape Teacup and Saucer. Decorated in overglaze enamel and gilt with pattern number 1365. Shows a gilt and black diamond band lined in gilt and a gilt diamond border above and below placed on the inside of the cup. Three orange panels decorated with yellow flowers run vertically through the design. The outside design consists of a concentric orange band with yellow ovals and spots lined in gilt and with under and over gilded leaves and buds.
