At fifteen years old, I didn’t understand the effect the Miss America Organization would have on me. Five years, four local titles, one state title, one national competition, $20,000 in scholarship money, and many mock interviews later, I’ve become a more confident and well-rounded woman. This year I learned to fly a plane, met Mark Wahlberg, hugged a ton of children, and advocated for food allergy awareness. Being Miss New Jersey has been nothing short of amazing, but none of it would’ve been possible without my village. To My Family: Mom, you’re my superhero and I don’t tell you enough just how much I love and appreciate you. Dad, thank you for never failing to believe in me and gracing me with your natural stage presence and love of the spotlight. Benny and Michael, thank you for cheering me on no matter how much you didn’t want to come to my pageants. You two are my biggest fans and I love you. To my grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles, you’re the best cheering section I could wish for. I can hear you from a mile away (literally) and knowing you were there each step of the way means the world to me. To My Local Directors: Chelsea and Josh, thank you for becoming my family. Chels, I’m so lucky to have you as my soul-sister. You were not only a director to me, but one of my biggest inspirations. Todd and Greg, you would do absolutely anything for me and that does not go unnoticed. I never want to do life without you two. Carol, thank you for always keeping it real and believing in me since my teen years. Michael, Tony, Mark, Bre, and Caron, you’ve each touched my life in different ways and I truly attribute so much of my successes and confidence to you. To my friends: I’m so lucky to have friends as supportive and loving as you all. Thanks for being my shoulders to cry on and my forever fans. Cam, thank you for always listening to me and being there for anything I could need. To Sally: Thank you for your everlasting love and support throughout this year. This has been one of the most challenging years of my life, and you were always there to lift me up and keep me grounded. You taught me to look at everyone through eyes of love, and that guided me through the job more than you’ll know. To Kelly and Brenna Weick: You two have been there for me every step of the way. Thank you for becoming my family. I look up to you both so much. To the Miss New Jersey Board, Team of Volunteers, and Sponsors: Thank you for donating your time and energy to make this organization the best it can be. The work you do does not go unnoticed. To My Teen Queens: I am inspired by each of you. Taylor, Isabella, Alaina, Brynn, I’m so thankful for the sisterhood we share. While you’re all taller than me, I was so lucky to be your “big” sister. To my Miss America sisters: You’re the strongest group of women I’ve ever met. I’m so grateful that this organization led me to you. I can’t wait to see what you will accomplish in the future, and I will always be in your corner! I’m still in disbelief that I am old enough to be retired from something. Because of the Miss America Organization, at 20 years old, I can hang up my crown and tippy tops knowing that I’ve made a difference in the lives of others. I live by the saying “leave others better than how I found them.” As Miss New Jersey, it has been my mission everyday. For now, this Jersey Girl will be focusing on college and life beyond a crown. It has been an honor to represent this beautiful state. With love, Jaime G ialloreto Jaime Gialloreto Miss New Jersey 2018
