Read and Activity 2 answer The Islands of the moon questions High school level Read the text The Comoro Islands are known as the islands of the moon. Located at the northern entrance of the Mozambique Channel, between Madagascar and the east coast of Africa, these volcanic islands enjoy a tropical climate. Thanks to its climate, the Comoros economy does well off of fishing and agriculture. Agriculture is the largest industry, employing 80% of the islands population. Some of the more well-known products are vanilla, cloves and ylang ylang. Much of the worlds perfume comes from the ylang ylang plant. The oil that is extracted from this plant is used worldwide as a base for perfume. Thanks to the large quantity they grow, the Comoro Islands are renowned for their perfume.

Interestingly, more than 60 percent of the population is under the age of 25, making the Comoros one of the youngest nations in the world. The wealth of the islands depends on its flora and fauna. Whales, dolphins, giant sea turtles and beautiful coral reefs call this place home. Despite the beautiful landscape, the Comoros do not have a well-developed tourism industry. Work Activity 3 in Sharks Are Our pair Friends High school level Read the text Sharks are Our Friends It no secret that sharks are terrifying creatures of the ocean. The movie Jaws already proved this. But as terrifying as they may be, sharks are actually necessary to an aquatic biome. According to the Florida Museum of Natural History, a person has a greater chance of being struck by lightning than being attacked or killed by a shark. And yet, we are still afraid of sharks.Whether you like these big sharp-toothed fish or not, our oceans would look very different without them. A thriving reef is swarming with countless sharks and fish, and contrary to what one might think, sharks do not eat all the fish in sight; instead, they keep fish numbers under control. In a healthy reef, smaller fish graze on algae that grow on the coral. In turn, sharks protect these smaller fish by eating larger fish that prey on these smaller fish.

Without sharks policing the reef, there would be too many predatory fish eating the smaller fish that feeds on algae.Without the smaller fish that grazes on the algae, the corals would be overtaken.Though sharks may be scary, they actually help to keep the reef in bal ance. Without them, the reefs would essentially die. Just as each fish and plant has their own role to play, we have ours as well by conserving the ocean wildlife and limiting pollution. If we can do our part to protect ocean communi ties, our oceans will thrive. Short Conclusion and mapping https://padlet.com/namirunas/hze7ikw0j83crx1f Answer the question in padlet Scan me
