Message STRANGERS VELAYUDHAN E BUT BROTHERS PROFESSOR DEPT.OF BA ENGLISH Language students live by tongue and ink.Either they should say something or write something .Therefore I cannot but write something when they ask me to. I would like to borrow from C.P.Snow’s article based on the rift between arts stud- ents and science students .Under the same roof ,they seem to move away from each other. This trend though apparently harmless is infectious and touches the elders,I mean teachers. It is against the spirit of unity in diversity. In our academic world there are several departments .We cannot put one on the other. All the figures of a hand are vital for the smooth fulfilling of the tasks that a hand has to do.Similarly a variety of departments add charm to the whole set up. There was a time when humanities comprised every subject, even science. But as scientific contributions increased in number science developed and branched into sciences, say physics, chemistry, botony, zoology and today we have food technology as well. As industrial progress blossomed into trade and commerce, universities opened up departments for those who are interested in pursuing studies related to commerce and trade, not to mention other related topics like economics and business management. All these things tell us that we are living in a world of specialization and we are lucky that there are a number of subjects and we are free to have our choice. Having chosen something we should stick on to it sincerely, all the while respecting and appreciating the values of other subjects which will contribute to viewing things in a spirit of friendship and brotherhood because we are strangers subject wise to some extent, but in reality Brothers. ATTITUDE Sir Winston Churchill has said that,”Attitude is a little thing Achuthanandan that makes a big difference”. A positive attitude leads to happiness and success and can change your whole life. If one Kuniyil looks at the bright side of life, his whole life becomes filled with light. This light affects the way he looks at the world.but it also ASST.PROFESSOR affects his environment and the people around him Attitudes are primarily our response to people, places, things, or events in DEPT.OF BA ENGLISH life. It can be referred to as a person's viewpoint, mindset, beliefs, etc. Our attitude towards people, places, things, or situations determines the choices that we make. Our attitude defines and delimits our level of success. If we have a generally lousy attitude, we will never really be successful. If you have a generally upbeat attitude, however, you'll always achieve at least some level of success. Our attitude is what influences all our actions. It is only the right attitude, which gets us good results. All the smiles and hand-shakes are not going to get you far, if you do not have the attitude to help others, without any selfish expectations in return Attitude is one of the most important factors in helping you get through the highs and lows of life. Since attitude spells how a person copes, whatever perspective you may hold will invariably have an effect in your performance, The Persons, who possess positive attitude, will explore good things in others and will not go after negativity. The people with positive attitude move forward with confidence and optimism, they remain happy and cheerful, their dealings with others is comprised of Sincerity, they remain flexible in their approach, they are blessed with sense of responsibility and they are the most Reliable persons The persons with negative attitude will always be searching weaker elements of others personality and are not inclined towards positive elements. Their focus remain on bad people and avoids good People. Also, they are likely to complain about changes, rather than adapting to the changing environment. Also, they might blame their failure on others. The persons with neutral attitude are very balanced in their approach. They remain indifferent to problems and wait for others intervention regarding resolutions. Such type of persons remains self-satisfied and complacent. Their attitude is composed of indifference and detachment. REVISTA MAGAZINE
It must be noted that there is a very thin line between personality traits and attitude. While the former are more rigid and permanent, the latter may change with different situations and experiences in life. So, attitudes are learned and acquired. Also, attitude could be explicit or implicit. Attitude at an unconscious level that might be unknown to us, and is formed involuntarily is referred to as implicit attitude. On the other hand, explicit attitude refers to the attitude at a conscious level . Implicit attitude might be attributed to past experiences or influences. We need to note that one's behavior might not always reflect one's attitude. However, studies have suggested that people might change their behavior, if the inconsistencies between their beliefs and behavior are pointed out to them. In general, a positive attitude is most likely to have a good effect on one's behavior. People with a sikken attitude demonstrate a negative state of mind. They try to destroy the image of every element that reflects into their mind. It is more destructive than the negative attitude .By adopting the right attitude, you stand to gain in so many ways, but perhaps the most profound is that it will make you feel happier. When you feel happier, things seem far more achievable in life. Day in and day out, they can have a profound effect on your career and life. Attitude is the mental state of individuals, which tends to act or respond or is ready to respond for or against objects, situations, etc. with which their vested feelings or effect, interest, liking, desire and so on are directly or indirectly linked or associated. During the course of development the person acquires tendencies to respond to objects. These learned cognitive mechanisms are called attitudes. It is so much more than a mindset or state of mind. Your attitude sets the tone for every action and behavior that follows after, and that will determine how long it takes for you to break free from your current circumstance. How you react, how you think, what you say to yourself or what you believe about yourself are all within your control and are portrayed by your attitude. You must first realize that your attitude is 100% within your control and then, learn to reflect, confirm and take hold of that attitude. Henry Ford said, “If you think you can or think you can't, you are right.” Our attitude and beliefs are a key factor in determining our ultimate success or failure So, consider shifting to an attitude of gratitude and apply it to your work moving forward. You have everything to gain! REVISTA MAGAZINE

They break you in to pieces, they torn you apart in such a way that it takes years and years to get back together. as she also defines that while you are busy with making amazing plans in life prepare ourselves for worse, because life is unpredictable therefore be prepared. As we all know lot of women prefer to stay in miserable relationship instead of get out Because there fear of being alone is greater and deap inside we were quite intuitive. remind one thing let the right person come to you, No Rush Now she became the UN ambassador for Pakistaniwomen..As she inspires me to turn up my views and make me strong against external and internal feeling of pain and loneliness. Reality Check - A Covid Initiative 2020 a year so unlike, so different. A year that has taught us to live from within, work from within, be content from within. A year that has limited us, restricted us, humbled us. A year that has taught us that despite all the technological and scientific advancements of mankind, we are still only but a small small shilling of this vast universe. We have created weapons; nuclear bombs, tanks and many more weapons of mass destruction. But now the whole world has knelt before a virus smaller than a needle hole. It has provided us a wake up call. To identify our place in the world, which is only a fraction. To find happiness in and around us instead of fitting in to the fast traversing world and it's monetary valuation of wealth. It has remembered us of a very basic quote we learned as kids, \"Health is Wealth\". It has shown us that the world is not what we think it is and that there is happiness that money cannot buy. There is happiness all around us, but we had been blind to it. Not anymore. The world has changed. It has changed so much that people start to wonder if things will ever be as they were before. The hopes of regaining the old lifestyle is facing day by day. People are getting familiar with the idea of living with it. Coexisting with covid has become the new goal. Ahead of money, ahead of pride, ahead of everything. The pandemic might not have been a welcome surprise but its lessons have definitely revived the lost humanity and patience. With the world slowly creeping back into the out and open, we are left to wonder. Are these lessons temporary? Do we forget them as soon as we are back ruling the world? Nothing is certain in this world of uncertainty. The only thing we can do is to hope. VAISHNA SN 2ND YEAR BA ENGLISH REVISTA MAGAZINE

Without education there would be no crucial thinking skills that lead to new ideas and the development of new successful techniques or inventions.education makes for new processes and studying opens the mind to new ways of thinking. This idea underlies the parallel we see in the novel between the Alchemist purifying metal in to gold and Santiago purifying himself in to someone capable of achieving his personal legend. This notion of humans, metals, and all other things sharing the same goal demonstrates that all elements in nature are essentially different forms of a single spirit. Then that old man, the criminal to police, mayor of the city, the very kind person Jean valjean died in peace with satisfaction. Les Miserables, is the book l like the most. I read it many times. Though Valjean was a criminal , the whole world was with him.We could see both justice and mercy there in the novel. Shadiya sherin AK 2ND YEAR BA ENGLISH REVISTA MAGAZINE

VISHNUPRIYA V K 3RD YEAR BA ENGLISH WOMEN EMPOWERMENT Women's economic empowerment refers to the ability of women to enjoy their right to control and benefit from the resources, assets, income and their own time, as well as the ability to manage risk and improve their economic status and well being. The three essential factors for empowerment are Learning, Labour and Leadership. Together they are called 3L's. Empowerment is the degree of autonomy and self determination in people and in communities. This enables them to represent their interest in a responsible and self determined way, acting on their own authority. However empowerment of women can be categorised into five main parts. They are social, educational, economic, political and psychological. Based on the assumptions that women differ from men in their social positions and that those differences consist of asymmetric, unequal power relations between the genders. Women's empowerment refers to the process of increasing women's access to control over the strategic life choices. In conclusion I want to underline the importance of the empowerment of women. Effective policies backed by action to accord their due rights and equal opportunities will be critical to bolstering the overall work on preventing sexual violence against women and other citizens in conflict.
