The children came beautifully dressed up in red colour for the party. The classrooms too had been dressed with bright and colourful bells, Christmas tree, stockings and stars created by the children. The programme started with Christmas carols sung by the children along with the teachers to gear up the party followed by funfilled activities like train ride and trampoline. In order to make children aware of uses of waste .The competition was held in the classrooms. PRIMARY Just A Minute Notice Board Competition The Notice Board Making competition was held for classes I and II on 21st April. The theme of the competition was “Summer Season” for class I and “Cartoon characters” for class II. The students decorated the board with the relevant things that they made and painted themselves. The theme was very well elaborated through illustrations and quotations. The contribution of each student was commendable. They were judged on the basis of information and presentation. Classes I-A and II-B were declared winners. CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION Poetry Recitation Competition Hindi Poetry Recitation Competition was held on September 1, 2017 for classes I and II. The students took part in the event enthusiastically. The preliminary round was conducted in the classes. A variety of topics like Nature, Mother, National Flag etc. were chosen by the students. Annual Function The New Public School celebrated its Annual Day “Kids’ O Mania” for classes Playway to II, on October 14, 2017 in the school premises. Justice B.C. Rajput, Member Punjab State Human Rights Commission Chandigarh was the Chief Guest. The Principal, Mr. R.D. Singh welcomed the Chief Guest. The function started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and invocation of muses. Class II students performed “Vandana” in dance form to seek blessings of Almighty with “namo- namo”. An action song by Playway students set the ball rolling and what followed was a riot of colours, melody and great dancing by adorable tiny-tots. “A world of Fantasy” by Nursery students revealed the positive and not-so positive aspects of watching cartoons. The musical “MakhanChor” by class-1enchanted the audience and Circus by LKG evoked awe! English Creative Writing Competition To foster creative thinking, expression and to develop the writing skills of students, an Inter House Creative Writing Competition was held on 12th August, 2017. All the students from classes III to V participated in the preliminary round. The selected students took part in the final round.The theme for the competition was ‘My Dream School’. The competition provided the students a platform to express their feelings by giving wings to their imagination. The students were adjudged on the basis of creative thinking, structure and adherence to the topic. Solo Dance Competition With the aim of honing the dancing skills of the students, an Inter House Solo Dance competition was organised for classes III to V on 21st August, 2017. The participants enthralled the audience with their various fun filled and energetic dance forms .They were adjudged on the basis of expression, rhythm, confidence and costume. Story Telling Competition A good story can imbibe the right values in the most impressionable age. On 3rd May 2017 an Inter House Story Telling Competition was held in the school auditorium. The preliminary round was conducted in the classes. Students got a chance to learn how to pair gestures and words to bring characters and their actions to life.A variety of interesting stories based on ‘Justice’was presented by the juniors and they offered a visual treat to the spectators through their beautiful props. Akhand Path Continuing with the decades old sacred tradition to pray for prosperity, progress and peace and also to imbue piety in the students, the Akhand Path was organized in The New Public School from November 16 to November 18, 2017. Bhog of Sri Akhand Path was held in the premises followed by KirtananLangar. On November 18, 2017 the concluding day, after ‘Ardas’ students performed Shabadkirtan and recited ‘Bani’.Mrs. HarkiratKaur Spoke on ‘ShriGurGranth Sahib Ji’sBani’. Next Ashwin of Class X spoke on ‘Sarbat Da Bhala’. Prabhleen and Paridhi spoke on “DegTegFateh”. Jashanpreet of class VIII recited a poem on Sri Guru Govind Singh Ji and Amrinder Singh of Class X on the baptized Sikhs. This was followed by Kirtan by the RagiJatha. The Sangat partook of ‘Guru KaLangar’ prepared by the staff and students of the school. Students performed their duties with fervor. Many old students and parents turned up in large numbers to attend the Bhog and Langar.
