November 2020 DPS Newsletter As we start to wrap up the year we are thankful to be healthy November 16, 2020 and safe as we move into the winter season. The Garage staff is Lori Hamilton busy preparing for winter operations. The Engineering staff is City of Rochester Hills finishing up this year’s projects and preparing for the upcoming RE: Grant Funding construction season. We completed several 30 Days of Giving Dear Ms. Hamilton, activities as seen on the following pages. Some other notable I am pleased to inform you that events this month: the Risk Avoidance Program • This month, we received a $4,493 Grant from MMRMA for (RAP)/Certification and Accreditation Program (CAP) the reimbursement of SCADA expenses. With Jeff’s very conservative numbers we have already saved approximately $2,200 in water costs to our department. The Facilities team shared their appreciation of our department for installing City Water at the Bloomer Park Offices This project was originally identified as a $78,000 Capital Improvement Project in 2021 to provide safe drinking water for employees at Bloomer Park. The water from the private well for the office was deemed unsafe for drinking. Our team was able to complete the project for the Facilities and Parks Departments this year in a very economical manner, saving the City approximately $60,000. A special shout out to Leon for making this a reality. Way to go DPS! “November at its best—with a sort of delightful menace in the air.” Anne Bosworth Greene
