July 2020 DPS Newsletter Happy July Everyone! The summer continues with another busy month for our department. Our team continues to be healthy with everyone complying with the safety precautions put in place to protect the city employees as well as our residents. Our Engineering team has been extremely busy reviewing and inspecting numerous private projects throughout the city including very large projects such as Legacy Apartments and Cumberland Village. Our striping project was completed this month with 91 miles of roads restriped, increasing driver safety in the City. Our construction jobs are continuing with the cooperative weather. Project updates: o 2020 Concrete Program – Concrete Removal & Replacement continues in various locations throughout the City – Just over 50% complete o 2020 Hot Mixed Asphalt/Pathway Programs – Mill & Resurfacing in various locations – 90% done o Crooks Road Pathway – Nearing completion o Auburn Road – Installations continue including the addition of a splash pad and roundabout construction o Dequindre Road – reconstruction & widening from West Utica Road to Collins Avenue o M-59 – Micro cold milling and ultra-thin overlay between Woodward and Crooks Road o Traffic Signal upgrade at Adams and Tienken o Watermain Project – Tienken Ct, Bedford Square and Gildewell neighborhoods o Preservation Overlay on Avon Rd between Livernois and Dequindre o Rochester Road – paver placed surface seal between Avon and Clinton River Bridge The Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR4) sampling has been completed in the City.
