DPS NEWSLETTER March 2020 – Well, March has definitely been a month of change, challenges, uncertainty and otherwise a month like we’ve never experienced before. We’re all learning to work and live differently. Who would have ever thought most of us would be working from home in March when we’re typically gearing up for our busy construction season??? The way in which we perform our jobs as we know them have definitely changed this past month. We continue to communicate with each other via phone, email and now Google Hang Outs. In this issue of the DPS News, we are choosing to focus on the positive aspects of this change because all of us have had and heard enough of the negative aspects of this pandemic. The entire team is working to maintain the high quality of services our customers expect. Staff at City Hall continue to work on plan reviews, participate in online training and webinars, update GIS and move capital projects forward so they are ready to go when we get the all clear. The Administrative staff continues to take calls, facilitate resolution on customer inquiries, process billing, input payroll and are also catching up on all those projects they can’t seem to touch when we are super busy. Most of the garage staff is on-call for emergencies such as water main breaks, retrieving dead animals and urgent road repairs, but continue to perform required water testing and monitor the City’s water supply. The Meter division is still reading meters and the Fleet Services division is doing critical repairs on vehicles. We are grateful to be able to give back in these times of need from volunteering to contact senior citizens in the community on a weekly basis for wellness check-ins to helping out with the Neighborhood House.
