Look no further!Orange County Schools is proud to offer a well-rounded inexpensive, multi-faceted KIDSCAMP for rising 1st - 6thgraders (age 11 limit).Each week is filled with a wide range of activities, such as swimming, movies, outdoor games, music, and arts & crafts. KID-SCAMP is a fun, diverse summer camp experience offering campers a little bit ofeverything from visiting museums and parks to water balloon races and tug-o-war. Campers are placed in coed groups byage and enjoy new friendships while participating in either planned activities oractivities of their choice.Children who attend KIDSCAMP often find themselves developing new hobbies because of the activities they were ableto participate in during our summer camp program. KIDSCAMP has lots of benefits, but perhaps the best one is that par-ticpants build lasting memories. Each day is a chance for campers to learn to appreciate each other and to appreciate ourenvironment. We want every camper to take home smiles, along with new skills and new friendships.Our KIDSCAMP is highly successful because of our quality staff. Our staff is selected because of their energetic, outgoing,and fun-loving personalities, their ability to positively guide young children, and their desire to make a difference! Staffmembers participate in a variety of training andskill-building activities, such as First Aid, CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens,Playground Safety, School-Age Certification course or equivalent and B.S.A.C.Based on this training and our stringent screening process, we are happy to say we have the best staff you could ever wantfor your child!

KIDSCAMP FeaturesAll of our camp sites have a star rated license in accordance with theNorth Carolina Division of Child Development and Early EducationStandards.We offer a unique mix of educational and recreationalprogramming, weekly field trips, a low 1:15 ratio of staff to campersensures indiviual care and attention, outstanding camp staff ledby experienced recreational/educational professionals withyears of camp experience and current CPR and First Aidcertification, low cost with discounted sibling rates, dailyafternoon snacks, and a summer camp T-Shirt.

Enrollment RequirementOrange County Schools KIDSCAMP is designed for students who are enrolled in OCS andwho have completed kindergarten through grade 5.Registration for rising sixth graders will be accepted through age 11.Lunch and SnacksChildren attending KidsCamp will need to bring a morning snack daily. Breakfast andlunch will be provided at no cost to campers at both camp sites through the SummerFood Service Program (SFSP), effective July 19 - August 4, 2017, MONDAY throughFRIDAY. An afternoon snack will be provided daily at both summer camp sites.TransportationTransportation is not provided to camp. However,campers are transported to field trips via OCStransportation. Weekly field trips are plannedbased on the theme for the week. This issubject to change throughout thesummer and we will keep you postedof any changes. We encourage childrento arrive no later than 8:15 a.m. to avoidmissing scheduled field trips and otherfun opportunities. For your convenience,the final schedule will include departureand return times. Field trips are not optional.All campers and all staff attend each trip.

Health ConcernsAny restrictions to your child’s activities, due to health reasons, should benoted on the Emergency and HealthHistory Form.The parent/guardian is responsible for submitting an authorization ofmedication form to the site coordinator at your child’s summercamp site. Be sure that all medications are labeled clearly withyour child’s name.All medications must come to us in their original containers.At no time should a child have medication with them oradminister medication without supervision.The Orange County School System does not discrim-inate on the basis of race, sex, color, national origin,creed, or disadvantaging or handicapping condi-tions in its educational programs, activities, oremployment practices.

2017 Summer CampPayment Schedule/Information SheetParents are only required to pay the registration fee up front to hold a slot for their child/children. Parents can start makingsummer camp required payments on May 15, 2017. The first two weeks are due by June 9, 2017.Please do not send in summer camp weekly fees prior to May 15, 2017.Any money sent before May 15, 2017 will go toward your current after school account, if applicable.DSS subsidy accounts - Current voucher (with signature) must be on file by June 9, 2017. Vouchers are theresponsibility of the parent/guardian/foster parent/DSS Social/Case Worker.Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)- The SFSP will be in effect at both locations, providing breakfast AND lunch, fromJune 19 - August 4, 2016, MONDAY - FRIDAY. Parents will need to provide a morning snack.Payment Methods: Check or Money Order made payable to Orange County Schools (OCS)Make checks payable to: Orange County SchoolsMail or Bring to: OCS School Community Relations, 1010 E. Around the World in 35 Days!In addition to the games, crafts, food adventures, fun facts, stories, cultural explorations, and just plain fun campers will beengaging in, each week they will splash, float and frolic in the pool at the Sportsplex and take in a movie at the NorthgateMall theater. Every Wednesday, there will be an exciting weekly theme-linked field trip. Campers will enjoy a variety of guestspeakers/presenters and special events across the summer as we embark on a whirlwind trip around the world, becomingglobetrotters in our hearts and imaginations.Week 1 - Asia: Konnichiwa! Nǐ hăo! Namaste!Passports out; you’ve arrived in Asia! Follow us across the world’s largest continent to the Taj Mahal, along the Great Wall ofChina, and up Mount Everest. We’ll explore different traditions and cultures while traversing Asia’s many countries and land-marks. Learn to use chopsticks, write in calligraphy, and even make mandalas!Week 2 - Australia: G’day, Mate!Welcome to the land down under! As we travel across the largest island in the world, our itinerary includes Ayers Rock, Syd-ney Opera House, and the Great Barrier Reef. From the famed movie “Finding Nemo” to the rich history of the aboriginals,Australia is sure to be a favorite stamp on your passport!Week 3 - Antarctica: Hello, Ice To Meet You! (Closed July 4 for Independence Day)Bundle up! March with us across the coldest, windiest place on Earth. Antarctica is s’now joke, and we can’t wait to show youits wonders. From Southern Lights to Emperor penguins, come see why Antarctica is a place few get to visit and even fewerget to live!

Week 4 - Africa: Bwa! Jambo! Marhabaan!Fill your canteen, campers, because we’re climbing Africa’s tallest mountain and slogging across the Sahara Desert. Don’tsweat it; we’ll cool off after with a float down the Nile River. Africa, with its abundant wildlife, will surely make you go “wild!”We will explore rich history, languages, customs, and cultures.Week 5 - North America: Hello! ¡Hola! Bonjour!Pack your bags and gear up for a week of adventure as we trek across North America. We will descend into the depths ofthe Grand Canyon, travel back in time to the ancient ruins of Teotihuacan, and peer over the edge of Niagara Falls. Be carefulnot to get splashed!Week 6 - Europe: Guten Tag! Ciao! Cześć!Grab your camera; you’ll want to capture this! Europe is picture perfect. From the Eiffel Tower to the Leaning Tower of Pisa,the Colosseum to the Parthenon, we’ll explore the places that make Europe unique. Make a wish and toss a penny into theTrevi Fountain, because you’ll definitely want to return to this beautiful continent one day!Week 7 - South America: ¡Hola! ¡Mucho Gusto! ¡Encantado!You’ve reached your final destination! Travel with us along the Amazon River through South America; explore Machu Picchu,Rio de Janeiro, and Easter Island. See pingüinos in the desert, llamas en las montañas, and jaguares in the jungle!
