Editorial Assalam o alaikum everyone, Hope you are doing well, and here we are, once again into the lock down. Well, we have to understand that whatever happens, it happens for good. We are heading towards the blessed month of Ramadan, are you excited? Do you know that Ramadan is the month of forgiveness! Allah showers His mercy and forgiveness for all His mankind. Forgiveness is an act of worship. This month we have to forgive at least one person who did unfair treatment or something bad to us and maintain good relations with him/her. Prophet (PBUH) went to preach in taif, a city nearby Makkah. The leaders of taif made fun of him and the street boys threw stones on him until his feet were filled with blood. But Prophet (S.A.W) forgave them and later the whole city accepted Islam. So you see, if you forgive someone, it’s really beneficial. With love, [email protected] 2

So those of you who witness the month must fast in it. But the one who is sick, or is on a journey (should fast) as much from other days (as he missed). Allah intends (to provide) ease for you and does not intend (to create) hardship for you. All this is so that you may complete the number (of fasts as prescribed) and proclaim the Takbīr of Allah for having guided you, and (so) that you may be grateful. 4

Story Time Gol Gappa and Me Once upon a time I met with a little round horizontal oval shaped creature which had a bowl of brown dirty water with it and some round brownish yellow balls in a compound. I was familiar with these little balls called cholas as I had met them before in my breakfast as cholay ki bhaji. I wondered that this little round horizontal oval shaped creature had something to do with me. I picked it up and dipped it in the water and filled some cholas in it as per the instructions. Finally the golgappa was about to enter my mouth when something funny happened. My mouth wasn't big enough to get it in. I tried hard then harder and tried to open my mouth as big as possible for this creepy thing. I finally was able to get it inside my mouth. And OMG, what a soothing feeling. Oh my god, a bite from heaven! I love you golgappa. I love you♡ and I am so sorry, I take my words back , my thoughts about you before were wrong, and I am so sorry. Okay, so as I blinked, I saw five other pieces of it on the plate and just on the second blink, they were all gone! Just so fast! I saw my sister with a mouth full of my lovely golgappas and I got broken from inside. I wanted to eat them and they were all gone. So sad;( So here my story ends. 5

Article Written by Huda Ilyas Ramadan is here The ninth month of the Islamic calendar, the month which brought blessings, the month of mercy is none other than Ramadan ul Mubarak, has almost arrived. Ramadan is the most blessed month of the year. This is the month which is to be respected and loved. Allah S.W.T has prescribed the third pillar of islam as fasting to be performed in this Holy Month. The 29 or 30 days of mercy unlock the doors of paradise and and locks every single door of hell. This month is a precious month. It only has thirty days. We should not waste it. Most of our duas are answered in this month. Our Holy Quran which is the last book of Allah was revealed to Prophet Muhammed S.A.W, in the month of Ramadan. Allah says in the Holy Quran : “Verily! We have sent it (this Qur’an) down in the night of Al-Qadr. And what will make you know what the night of Al-Qadr is? The night of Al- Qadr is better than a thousand months. Therein descend the angels and the Ruh (Gabriel) by Allah’s Permission with all Decrees, Peace! Until the appearance of dawn.” (Qur’an, 97:1-5) Preparing for Ramadan: People are preparing for Ramadan by cooking delicious meals and freezing them for Iftaar. Other than this, people clean their homes before Ramadan to set themselves free from these chores during the month and pray to Allah continuously. People also prepare for eid and go for shopping. Similarly, we are doing these sorts of preparations for Ramadan. 7

How to prepare? These points also are useful but we must do one thing more which is important. We must forgive everyone. We must clear our minds from bad thoughts about the people whom we don't like. Verily, Allah showers mercy upon those who forgive others. We must not force anyone for anything but we must do our part. Let's send a message to the ones whom we have not talked for a long time. It doesn't matter if they accept it or not. Many people are eager and joyed for this month for Iftaar and Sehri but the fact is that this month is for ibadah ( Worshipping Allah). We are excited to eat delicious and yummy meals like pakore , samose, jalebi, rolls and many more. But do we really follow what Prophet Muhammed (P.B.U.H) did? He used to eat a date and drink water in Iftaar and that's all! But now everything has changed these things are only our starters. We eat a date then drink juice then eat samose, pakore, rolls and many more things. I don't really say not to eat the food because when Allah gives us, we should not reject it. Only we should be careful about our diet. We should never leave our fast at any cost. Allah is Merciful. He has given an opportunity in some ways that a fast can be left or delayed for some other day: 1- One has an opportunity not to fast when he is physically or mentally not fit. But this doesn't mean that if we have a little pain so we can leave our fast. 2- During travelling. These are some of them and may be there might be more. Sometimes, people who suffer from sugar or blood pressure or any disease, they often ask their doctors if they can fast. This is the fact that no doctor rejects for keeping fast because he says that you should 8

do what comforts you. The doctor doesn't make himself a part of sin nor the patient by saying him not to fast. Salah during Ramadan One should not leave Salah whether it's Ramadan or not. It is a fact that praying in Ramadan is 700 times more rewarding than usual. Salah performed at it's actual time is the best thing in the sight of Allah. The Holy Quran warns a woe to those who delay their prayers. It lists the one as hypocrite. A hypocrite will be burnt in the most deep stage of the hell. In the month of Ramadan, we must give the most sadqah. It maybe 2 rupees or thousand rupees. It doesn't matter. What matters is your intention. We shouldn't give sadqah while feeling proud and by showing someone. But in secret. Today I have shared much information about islam and fasting. If I said something wrong, May Allah forgive me for it. May you all have a pleasant, happy , blessed and merciful Ramadan. Ameen! Keep doing Zikr and make duas . Ramadan Mubarak! 9

Reflection Written by Mahnoor Ilyas THE POWER OF WRITING IT DOWN. Writing down something has great significance. You might have heard your elders saying that if you are facing difficulty in memorizing something, you better write it down, it will be easier. An example of which is seen in the history when Prophet ( PBUH ) narrated the revelations to his companions and they learnt it my heart. Arabs had an intelligent memory so they would just learn by heart and there was no need to write it down. But to preserve it for the generations they had to write it down after Prophet ( S.A.W )'s death. And till now even the Holy Quran is preserved, in a compiled form by the grace of Allah. Moving some centuries forward, sir syed Ahmed Khan tried to strengthen relations with British. He was a far sighted person and knew that British rule had arrived and won't leave until a long time. So he wrote the list of loyal Mohammadens of India, displayed it to the British, so that they would know that Muslims were not against them. Also did he wrote a book upon the \"Reasons of revolt\" and cleared the confusion about the revolt against the British that not only Muslims were involved in it but Hindus as well. Knowledge from the past is still preserved because the ancient people had written it down. Like we find the Egyptian culture from the past. 11

Now let's come to the present time. Introverts do not have the courage to speak out in front of the society. But writing is their strength. They put their thoughts into words and present them in front of the world. So now we see the importance of writing down something that we had probably never been through before. 12

Poem Authored by Laiqa Shahid \"Rambling Thoughts” Wandering in the breezes of grief. Touching the sky of belief yet hiding my connotations in the darkness of fields. I'm dwelling here for you. Leaving footsteps to instruct you, You are here but barely beholds me around you. It's wrapping me in the knots of skirmishes. Enduring life in an original manner. Jotting down dreams with the letters of gold. I'm lost in the ocean of miseries. Now my blood is receiving the wicked flow, Covering the scars with dignity. Scratching down the numbness of the skin. Inhaling woes through the lungs. Inscribing death spells Drowning in the loop of existential angst. 15

Opinion Penned by Ayesha Mir Life I can’t be at the top at once or even at the bottom I always am there, divided between the two. Nothing can stop me. What I have to do is believe and all will go well. Life isn’t entirely beautiful nor is it entirely ugly. I have to give, in order to take. Life will take many things away from me but it will also give me some. That’s how I become one with it. I know things are hard because life was never meant to be easy; we just wanted it to be that’s how failure and everything bad related to it happens, when we just want and don’t work. 16

I just realized this and its making me go crazy. The thing which made me learn about life is a cycle. An odd thing for sure. I am not talking about the cycle of life; I’m talking about the cycle we ride. The pedals can never be aligned. One will always be up and the other down that’s how life is, one moment you are down the other you succeed. Moreover, when you are at the end of the barrel someone else will always be at the top and the opposite goes again. Life gives everyone the same chances but some people tend to give minor things more importance than once in a life time opportunity. I believe that you’ll get looked down at many times but I think that’s just to test how much patience you possess. I always thought people who look down on others are a nuisance to the world but now I don’t think so. I know that because of getting treated badly your hunger to achieve more becomes greater. If someone looks down at me of course without doubt I’ll get angry but to control is more satisfying than to regret what you did earlier and you can just comeback at them with your success. That’s what I believe life is. 17

Poem Drafted by Huda Ilyas, 7 years old A Ride I went to a festival once I went there after two months there I saw a ride which I wanted to ride I quickly ran towards it it was a room which I went in it was completely dark. I closed my eyes because it seamed to be scare. Then I open my eyes and saw that a garden was near I was surprised to see It was very cold that I bent to my knee There were many beautiful flowers. I always want to be in the beautiful hours I was amazed by the beauty then I saw a fairy on her duty. I would enjoy more But my mother woke me up because the clock struck four. . 18
