Because every Canadian region manages its own health care system, there is too muchcontroversy and debate in relation to health care coverage for both locals and people visiting thecountry.People who want to access the Canadian Health Care system must apply for a provincial healthcard and wait for no longer, than three months to obtain their health card in the case of newimmigrants. While the Canada Health Act guarantees that all residents of a territory or province will beaccepted for health coverage, temporary visitors can only access this system purchasinginsurance by themselves. However, there are also Public Health Care Providers that ruled under the same act, providingservices such as hospitals, dental surgery, ambulatory services, primary care doctors, andspecialists to cover provincial insurance policies. As a visitor to Canada, you can purchase a health care insurance policy and benefit from thesepublic services during your stay in the Canadian territory.Canada counts with about 30,000 primary care doctors, who account for over half of allCanadian doctors so you will not have a problem finding a physician that can provide you withpreventative care or basic medical treatment.Specialist doctors account for 28,000 all over the country and there are countless private clinicsoperating in the country offering specialized medical services, although under federal law theyshould not provide those services covered by the Canada Health Act.Even though, most clinics offer such services regardless the legal limitation, they are coveredby private insurance policies to provide health care assistance to people that otherwise would beleft without medical protection.Private insurance in Canada may cover up to 80% of medical cost and it is available to visitorsand local residents unsatisfied with their provincial or territorial health care system. In terms of medical availability as of 2007, there is one primary care doctor for every 1000Canadians, who spend nearly $3,300 per capita on health care attention every year.Keep in mind that the Canadian Health Care System does not provide basic services to residents, and some of them are those that visitors usually require, such as optometrists, dental services, and prescription medication, which people have to pay.Title:How To Get Affordable Individual And Family Health InsuranceWord Count:322

Summary:Cellular health is a fundamental principle of preventing illness and maintaining good health. While many Complementary/Alternative options to promote cellular health are available, theyare rarely discussed in mainstream medicine. This article offers ways to raise both public andprofessional awareness in this vital area of health.Keywords:Complementary/Alternative medicine, preventative health, CAM research, disease prevention, health transformationArticle Body:Copyright 2006 Mary F. Zesiewicz, MDPreventative and restorative health care includes the principles of cellular health. The human body is made up of 60 trillion cells. Each cell has a specific role in how the bodyfunctions. Each cell works very hard. It is the harmonious collaboration of all our cells thatmake the human body work in optimal fashion.Disease results when cell function goes awry. Dysfunction in one cell eventually spreads toothers and our whole system is out of balance. Restoring balance in some cells directly affectsour overall health and well-being.In the current, conventional model of health care, treatments focus largely on alleviatingsymtpoms. While this is often very helpful, it is often not adequate to eradicate disease andrestore a state of health. This is evidenced by the skyrocketing rates of chronic health ailmentslike diabetes, cancer, heart disease, among others. In short, eradicating disease is not sufficient to restore a person's state of health. To date, the primary source of information regarding promotion of cellular health has been thefield of Complementary/Alternative Medicine (CAM). Yet, why aren't CAM modalitiesdiscussed in our conventional doctor's visit? While CAM is enormously popular, most strategies and suppements are, as of yet, notscientifically researched. And without such research, it is very difficult for CAM to gainwidespread acceptance in mainstream medicine. This lack of research is largely attributable tolack of funding. A great deal of medical research is sponsored by large companies thatmanufacture pharmaceuticals and therapeutic medical devices. This is not a criticism of thisresearch; but in terms of long term health, it is simply not enough.Public sentiment, as far as acceptance of CAM is concerned, remains steady and strong. Andsentiment in conventional health care as far as acceptance of CAM is concened, is definitelyincreasing. What can we do to promote more quality research and education in CAM and in particular thefield of preventative medicine?

Raising public awareness is a must. With all that is published in the field ofComplementary/Alternative Medicine, there is still a scarcity of scientific research validating, not only its effectiveness, but more specifically, which populations would be most amenable towhich products. These are wonderful discussions we can have with our conventional health caredoctors and our natural health providers. It is amazing how many people that are treated for various health conditions are, as of yet, unaware of the potential benefits of combining their treatments withComplementary/Alternative Medicine. Likewise, most conventional doctors have receivedminimal training in Complementary/Alternative health; many doctors begin their own personalstudy of CAM after dialoging with their patients.Awareness promotes positive action. From creative questions will arise meaningful solutions. This dialogue needs to come from each of us. Health, and our state of health, affects us all.
