You are finishing your career strong during a time of great uncertainty brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. This has been no easy feat, whether you served as a teacher, administrator, nurse, maintenance worker, bus driver, custodian, lunchroom worker, clerical staff member, paraprofessional, central office or other school district employee. Everyone worked together to deliver a high-quality education to our students, who looked to you for reassurance, a smile, kind work or some sign that they were special to you. The difference you made in their lives will last for years to come. It is a pleasure to honor you this evening and publicly recognize your contributions to our schools and community. Having worked in the field of education, you have touched many lives, created lasting memories, given countless hugs and brightened dreary days. You have been a role model to numerous young people and adults through the years, perhaps even a hero or mentor. Your years of service will forever contribute to the Houston County Way tradition and be a part of our school district’s history. As you experience this new chapter in your life, I hope that you will remember with affection all of the memories you made while a member of our district. We will certainly remember you.
