INTRODUCTION -Why is chastity essential before and during marriage? In Islam, chastity is essential for achieving the Purpose of our Creation (that purpose being the worship of Allah through complete submission to His Will), and marriage is a means of preserving one’s chastity.

In Islam, marriage is called hisn, that is to say, it is like a fort for the husband and the wife to protect each other from any outside physical, emotional or moral attacks and to remain chaste and pure. The married man is called muhassan (which means fortified, entrenched or immune) and the married woman is called muhsina (which means sheltered and chaste). In Islam, husband and wife are also likened to mutual garments, that is to say, they cover each other’s weaknesses, enhance each other’s strengths, and protect each other from the environment.

In short, Islamic Marriage requires utmost commitment and fidelity, the hallmarks of chastity and modesty. The Holy Prophet(saw) is reported to have said: Marriage is my precept and my practice. Those who do not follow my practice are not of me. (Ibn Majah) When a man has married he has completed one half of his religion. (Mishkat) THE HAZARDS ATTENDANT ON THE FAILURE TO FACILITATES MARRIAGE. -Higher chances of fornication

-Increases crime -Hinder human progeny AUTHORITIES ROLE ON MARRIAGE AFFAIRS -The Guardian (Ruler): Pre-marital counseling to youth. Laws to legalize marriage and encourage lawful marriage. Build comfortable houses, wedding halls, establishment of marriage funds. -Fathers: Help to find suitable partner and give financial support. Act as waali for their daughters. Inviting guests to marriage parties.

-The marriage fund: Financial support for reasonable dowry, economical wedding and parties. NEW SOLUTION FOR EXPENSIVE DOWRIES 1. Teach Islamic values and give importance to ‘Deen’ instead of wealth and property. 2. Enact a law to limit the demand of dowries 3. Public campaign against the expensive wedding.

THE OBJECTIVE OF ESTABLISHING THE MARRIAGE FUND IN THE U.A.E. -Marriage Fund has humane objectives towards strengthening the pillars of social structure and cementing its texture, as well as developing and activating it on all aspects. It offers marriage grants to deserving Emiratis. Marriage Fund also organizes mass weddings and offers marriage counselling to to-be-wed couples. ACTIONS THAT ASSIST IN MAINTAINING ONE’S CHASTITY.

1. Be insistent upon reciting a daily portion of the Qur’an. 2. Remember Allah at every available moment and ask Allah to help you against the enemy. 3. Seek refuge with Allah and be insistent upon the invocations the Prophet (peace be upon him) taught us.

THE MEASURES TAKEN BY ISLAM TO PREVENT FORNICATION Allah has ordained a way for those women. When an unmarried male commits adultery with an unmarried female, they should receive one hundred lashes and banishment for one year. And in case of

married male committing adultery with a married female, they shall receive one hundred lashes and be stoned to death. BIBLIOGRAPHY: ilmfeed.com chastity.com www.islamweb.net Words: 485
