I. Overview:Brookville Local Schools serves the educational needs of students residing in theNorthwest corner of Montgomery County. Encompassing just thirty-seven square milesof both suburban and rural areas, the district catchment includes the City of Brookvilleand parts of Clay and Perry Townships. Currently, the district configuration consistsof: Brookville Elementary, which houses PreK to 3rd-grade students, BrookvilleIntermediate which provides instruction for grades 4 through 8, and Brookville HighSchool which serves 9th through 12th graders.Our professional learning community strives to create positive relationships between staff,students, parents, and community to facilitate academic, social, and emotional studentgrowth. Helping students reach their full potential is a high priority. Consistently, high-test scores are an expectation, but that does not stand alone. It is important that studentsactively participate and feel vested in their development. Each year, student and teacherattendance rates hover around 96% to 98%. Moreover, in a given year, approximately70% of our Brookville High Schools students are involved in extracurriculars. Numerousclubs and activities for students at the Elementary and Intermediate schools also haveexceedingly high participation rates.Not only do our students and teachers actively participate, our parent and communitysupport for student achievement and well-being is seen at all levels. Whether at sportingevents, band or choir concerts, events displaying student work, WatchDOG sign-ups orGrandparents Day, our families and community turn out in droves to support our students.Our hardworking students and staff of Brookville Local Schools, as well as the familiesand the community are to be commended for the collaborative effort helping studentsachieve their full potential.Brookville Local Schools delivers a high-quality, value-added to our community. Thedistrict leads the state by ranking among the top 20% of public school districts in the stateof Ohio in academic performance index scores. Additionally, Brookville Local Schools isone of few districts that are also able to rank in the lowest 20% of schools with regard tooperating expenditures per student. Brookville Local Schools is committed to providingan excellent education that benefits students and community alike. 2

II. Vision and Mission: Vision We strive to be a community of learners and leaders engaged in developing graduates for the future. Mission To challenge, prepare, and support all students to realize their full potential.III. Belief Statements:We believe:  All children can learn.  Every student is important and will be encouraged to achieve their full potential.  Every student should be prepared to become responsible members of society.  Every student should be provided a safe, positive, and inviting atmosphere for learning.  Education must be responsive to community needs.  Schools, each parent, and the community have the responsibility to work together in the educational process.  Extracurricular and co-curricular activities are a valuable aspect of the educational process. 3

IV. Strategic Goals: The following goals for BLS constitute the “one-page” vision for the next three years. Each goal is supported by a set of objectives and initiatives. V. Key Initiatives (for each goal): The following key initiatives represent major priorities to be accomplished over the next three years. Strategic Goal A – Brookville Schools will promote high quality academic programs. Objective A – Lead in providing high quality academic programs through trusted partnerships with students and parents. Goal A Initiatives 1. Evaluate the structure of all district academic programs to meet students’ individual needs with relevance and rigor. Attention will be given to adequate staffing. This should include, but not be limited to:  At-risk students  Elective offerings  Enrichment opportunities 2. Reinforce a school culture that consistently recognizes and supports the social/emotional needs of students. This should include, but not be limited to providing:  Crisis Support  Enhanced Social Skills (soft skills)  Persistence of Effort 3. Review grading practices to promote and reflect mastery of subject matter. 4. Continuously explore the most relevant curriculum and instruction options available. Emphasis should be given to the intrinsic value of enrichment opportunities and academic rigor. This should include, but not be limited to current Project Based Learning practices. 5

Strategic Goal B – Brookville Schools will promote and practice safety. Objective B - Lead in providing best practices of safety and security within our school community.Goal B Initiatives1. Collaboratively work with public safety officials to offer ongoing training for staff, students and parents on school emergency scenarios.2. Continuously review, practice, and improve safety plans.3. Seek resources that support safety measures during drop-off and pick- up and major events at school.4. Integrate security monitoring systems with public safety for first responders’ access when appropriate.5. Continuously review and revise the scope and availability of background checks for employees and volunteers.6. Inform and educate the community on school efforts of safety and security.7. Maintain and document all safety plans to be approved with the State of Ohio.8. Meet all local and state requirements for safety programs. 6

Strategic Goal C – Brookville Schools will promote communication and community engagement Objective C - Lead in providing communication and community engagement opportunities that nurture students as responsible citizens for the future.Goal C Initiatives1. Create outreach that engages alumni more fully in the district to promote the success of current students.2. Reevaluate all forms of electronic communications to enhance the connection with parents, community, potential volunteers and students. Attention should be given, but not limited to:  Social Media Platforms  Website(s) and Web Links (district, buildings, and teachers)  One-Call Now Targeting  Parent Access to Student Progress3. Develop an outreach plan to connect households without students to the district.4. Implement a system to connect meaningful student community service to community needs; and, meaningful community volunteer work to district needs.5. Keep parents informed of ways to access classroom content and materials, in an effort to support their child’s learning. 7

VI. Key Performance Indicators: These performance indicators are intended to be used for annual evaluation by BLS to assess progress. Performance indicators may also be used as a means for communicating progress to key stakeholders. 1. To consistently achieve all performance indicators among the top four districts of Montgomery County. The district will report achievement as:  The percentage of all 3rd grade students scoring proficient or above on the 3rd grade reading test as compared to the State and County.  The percentage of 8th grade math students scoring proficient or above on the 8th grade math test as compared to the State and County.  The percentage of all 9th grade students successfully completing Algebra I or the equivalent and English 9.  The percentage of all first year 9th grade students successfully completing five high school credits which include one each in math, science, and language arts. 2. The acceptance of 95% of each year’s graduates into an accredited post-secondary education or career training program. 3. The percentage of students earning the Honors Diploma. 4. The percentage of students achieving an AP exam score of 3 or better. 5. The number of students who earned a remediation free score on all parts of the ACT or SAT, earned an honors diploma, and/or earned an industry-recognized credential. 6. An “A-rated” performance index for each building and the district each year. 7. The percentage of students participating in co-curricular and extra- curricular programs each year. 8. The annual total hours and value of student services to the community. 9. The total hours and value of community service by volunteers to the school district. 8
