Barbie South Africa (November 2016)

Published by Flip eBook Library, 2020-03-15 08:45:52

Description: Barbie has been around for more than 50 years and is arguably the biggest girl’s toy brand in the world. Barbie magazine teaches young girls that they can aspire to be whatever they want to be. Barbie promotes the values of kindness, friendship and dedication – and Barbie magazine reflects this. With lots of educational stories, activities and games, it keeps girls, aged 3 to 10, busy for hours and also encourages parent-child interaction.

Little girls will be excited to hear that their favorite magazine about their favorite doll, Barbie, is now available digitally. This means parents can Barbie magazine right onto their computer, iPad or Android tablet or phone to entertain their daughters with hours of glitz and glamour. Each issue is packed with fun Barbie activities that young ladies will have a blast trying out. They’ll learn to make Barbie cards and Barbie jewelry, figure out great puzzles, get instructions for seasonal crafts like snowflake picture frames and mermaid jewelry boxes, etc.

Features

• Exciting stories featuring Barbie and her friends every month
• Previews about upcoming Barbie movies
• Competitions and giveaways
• Letters page allows little girls to write to their favourite characterand get responses
• Loads of activities to keep little girls entertained

In addition to the fun activities, each digital issue of Barbie contains confidence and self esteem building articles like the “I Can Be…” series that highlights a different career in each issue that little girls may not have thought of such as becoming an architect or a doctor. They will receive cute fashion tips like adding sparkle to the closet and hair style ideas. They’ll also have chances to win great Barbie gear like swimming pools, DVDs, video games, and books. In addition to all that, they’ll read interesting (and tame) interviews with their favorite stars. Every little girl should have a chance to read this digital magazine.

rEad THE sTory bEHind my laTEsT moviE,and colour THE picTurEs inas you go!Barbie, Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea are flying to a tropical island where Chelsea will be competing in a dance competition. Their puppies have come with too!5Pet safety tip #1Having your pet microchipped can save his life. If he gets lost a vet can identify him quickly and you can have him home in no time.

When they arrive, Barbie, her sisters and their puppies head off on a golf cart to find The Banyan Tree Fairgrounds. They watch a really cool dancing horse show and afterwards chat to the host Vivian and her son Marco, who show them the amazing horses Beauty and Spirit.6 STORIES STORIES STORIES STORIES STORIESPet safety tip #2Your pet should wear a collar with your contact numbers on it, so if someone finds her, they can call you.

7 STORIES STORIES STORIES STORIES STORIESWhile the girls are chatting, the puppies wander off, following a butterfly. When the sisters realise, they search everywhere – and only see too late that the puppies have climbed into Vivian and Marco’s trailer and they are driving away!Pet safety tip #3If your pet goes missing, try not to panic. Get together a few people and start searching as quickly as you can, before your pet gets too far.

In their rush, the sisters get their golf cart stuck and have to camp out for the night. They hear a noise, but Barbie tells them it’s probably a macaw (the island’s official bird). She tells them the legend of the Seven macaw Constellation in the night sky, which points to the North Star.8

9In the morning, the girls must get back to find the puppies and get Chelsea to her dance competition. They find a zipline which helps them reach the bottom of a cliff and make their way back to their hotel. There they get a camper van and a map, which will help them find the campground where Vivian and Marco stay.

In the meantime, the puppies are having some fun island adventures of their own! The girls are happy to find them safe and sound! But they are now far away from where Chelsea’s dance competition is – and their camper van is out of petrol.10Pet safety tip #4If you cannot find your pet, ask an adult to call local vets and shelters to see if she has been dropped off there.

Luckily Vivian and Marco are there and offer them a lift. Unfortunately, when they get to the bridge they realise they cannot cross in the trailer. The horses Beauty, Spirit and their mother Silver, however, can get the sisters there! 11

Barbie chooses the wrong path. They are lost and it looks like Chelsea won’t make it to the competition. But then Barbie remembers the Seven Macaw Constellation and uses it to find the North Star, which she uses to guide them in the right direction.12Pet safety tip #5Always have a recent photo of your pet in case he gets lost and you need to put up posters.

They arrive just in time and all the sisters, horses and puppies join Chelsea on stage for her performance. Chelsea wins the competition. What an amazing adventure!THE END13

Ifell in love with horses after I saw a movie about a girl and her horse. The horse was chestnut brown, and the most beautiful animal I’d ever seen. The whole time I wished he was my horse! Soon after, I went horseback riding for the first time. And I was instantly HOOKED!The first horse I ever rode also had chestnut brown hair! (I felt just like the girl in the movie!) When I started lessons, I learned all the basics: how to approach a horse, how to put on a halter, how to put on a saddle and bridle, how to get on a horse, and how to sit while riding. OH! And how to stop! (That one was pretty important!) Anyway, around!Horse-ing28

A horsebAck rider’s guide to success!1BE SAfE! Remember, your horse is way bigger than you. Stay alert whenever you’re riding or leading him to the paddock or stable. Protect yourself too by wearing a helmet and boots whenever you ride.2BE PATIEnT! Give yourself plenty of time to master one move or jump before moving on to the next.3BE A GOOD, CARInG PET OWnER! Keep your horse healthy and fit by practising good grooming and feeding habits. Taking good care of your horse will also help strengthen the bond between you.4BE AvAIlABlE! learn everything you can about horses, and find ways to be around your horse: help out at the stables by filling water buckets, grooming, raking pathways or cleaning gear.Read all about what it takes to become a horse rider in this awesome Barbie diary! the more I rode, the more I knew I wanted my own horse.I did eventually get my very own horse – her name is Tawny! She is beautiful, athletic and talented. Together we’ve won many horse show ribbons and trophies! There is a BIG horse show next month. We’ve been training together for weeks. We’ve practised jumping (over fences) and dressage (performing a series of different moves) so much, we haven’t had time to do what we love most: going for long rides on Malibu Beach! But that’s exactly what we’re going to do after the show! Until then, happy trails, girlfriends!Barbie xox29
