THE COMPANY WITH CONNECTIONS

The Company With Connections®SECONDARY INVERT FORMING SYSTEMTRU-CONTOUR TRU-CONTOUR The Tru-Contour standard system allows for 2/3 invert depth and is compatible with a variety of flexible pipe to manhole connectors. Full depth systems are also available. The Tru-Contour assembly consists of: 1) A hole adapter which is designed to align the invert assembly with the flexible pipe to manhole connector. This insures pipe to invert compatibility. 2) A series of 4 wedges and straight sections which when combined provides an unlimited selection of angles to create enough flexibility to form an in invert within 1.5 degrees. 3) A stabilizing jack which prevents from floatation during casting operations. This insures that correct fall is maintained across the manhole base. AVAILABILITY CHARTA-LOK Products, Inc. and Tru-Contour have joined forces to bring SIZE 2-WAY 3-WAY 4-WAYtogether the best in secondary precast inverts available today. The (IN/DIA.)Tru-Contour Invert Forming System offers the manhole producer a • • •very durable, systematic and versatile method of forming all invert 4\" • • •configurations from 4\" through 48\" diameter. 6\" • 8\" • • • KEY ADVANTAGES 10\" • 12\" • • •Two, three, and four way configurations including dead end 15\" •combinations with a standard .2 ft. of elevation difference (fall) can 18\" • • •be made easy and rapidly without the need for skilled labor. 21\" • 24\" • • •Greater fall can be obtained based on the operators' ability to 27\" •experiment. The system's versatility is due to an unlimited 30\" • • •combination of 36\" •four basic wedges. With the combination of one or more of these 42\" •wedges, any angle can be obtained within 1.5 degrees. This allows 48\"enough flexibility to effectively form an invert which aligns perfectlywith the entering pipeline. Patent #4,484,724System also available in Single Piece construction. The Tru-Contour system cuts costly labor both in set-up and concretefinishing time. A basic three way can be set up in approximatelyfifteen minutes and depending on pouring procedures, can allow anaverage of four inverts per day to be formed from a single system.Finishing time is kept to a minimum due to the accuracy of flows theforms create. Each invert in regard to channel width, depth and radialturn is form finished.

Big boxes, big seals DIXIE CONTRACTOR, August 5, 1991 Custom design helped a drainage project to a successful completion at Dixie Landings, a Florida development.Florida is a land of superlatives world's brightest sunshine, world's most beautiful beaches, and on and on.Now, thanks to recent construction at the Dixie Landings Resort, Florida claims another record too. It's now the site of the world's largestflexible pipe to manhole seal.Construction began last year on the Dixie Landings Resort Community Phase 1. The project in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., was designed by theBoyle Engineering Corporation of Orlando.Phillips & Jordan Incorporated of Knoxville, Tenn., submitted the low bid for Phase I of the project. Construction of the storm drainage for thisphase of the project involved the installation of 184 storm sewer structures and more than 20,500 linear feet of storm drainage pipe in sizesof 8 in. PVC up to 84 in. RCP. The work involved depths exceeding 14 vertical feet.Plans called for phase I of the project be constructed on a very tight construction schedule which required the storm sewer structures to bedelivered, excavated, installed and backfilled within 90 days from the first shipment. Phillips &Jordan choose Atlantic Concrete Products ofSarasota, Fla. , as the supplier of the precast drainage structures and specified that the A-LOK STM Connector manufactured by ALOKProducts of Tullytown, Penn., be installed in every location possible.Included in the 184 storm drainage structures were five special structures to accommodate direction changes of the 1040 lineal feet of 84 in.reinforced concrete pipe. Reinforced concrete pipe for this project was supplied by Joelson Concrete Pipe Company. These five structureswere in excess of 13.5 ft. deep and were located in an area with a water table that was approximately one foot below finished grade.Phillips & Jordan and their project manager Jerry Martin were concerned with the installation time and the watertightness when using struc-tures with conventional grouted pipe connections. Atlantic Concrete Products solved this problem by custom designing five structures withthe pipes entering on a flat wall surface. These were rectangular, trapezoidal and pentagonal structures designed to accommodate the large84 in. concrete pipe while keeping the lifting weight minimal.Atlantic Concrete then asked ALOK Products to furnish the largest rubber storm pipe connector to date. The A-LOK STM Connector wasdesigned to accommodate the 84 in. reinforced concrete pipe with a 100 in. outside diameter. This would speed the installation and ensurewatertightness.A-LOK met the challenge and was able to design and furnish A-LOK STM mandrels and gaskets to meet the precaster's delivery schedule. The first structure for the 84 in. line was delivered last May, and within 90 minutes the influent and effluent pipes were installed and the struc-ture ready for backfill. Overall, Phillips &Jordan was able to complete the installation in 75 days, 15 days ahead of schedule. ■

Click to see a video of these instructions How to Use our Mandrel Installation GripsPlace two grips at 12 & 6 o’clock (the two lowest points on a curved mandrel) withthe clamps underneath the outside half of the mandrel. Pull the clamp trigger untilthe 2 hooks t snugly into the waterstop of the connector and starts pulling theconnector down (see picture below).Position the other two clamps at 3 and 9 o’clock. Once all four clamps are installed, make sure the nose of the connector is consistently tight against the o set.Place the inside mandrel half on top and hand-tighten nuts and bolts. Make surethe waterstop is perpendicular to the outside wall of the mandrel. Then lookthrough all observation holes to be sure the nose of the connector is still up againstthe o set. Tighten nuts with wrench. Re-check waterstop and observation holes. Click for a video of these instructions or call us with any questions at (800) 822-2565.
