Executive Director’s MessageOpportunities for the Disabled was a small group with limited means in 1996 thathad a very simple goal: help physically challenged individuals live more fulfillingand independent lives in any way we could.Since that humble start in 1996 we have been blessed and able to directly assistthousands of individuals with our clearly defined charitable programs throughoutCanada, and internationally.Throughout the years many wonderful and caring people have volunteeredand assisted our organization. We are truly grateful and thankful to all of thesewonderful supporters. Our new program initiatives have proven effective in recycling medical andcomputer equipment, providing support through our website, and making thiswonderful disability resource guide available to every person in need of service. No matter what we do for people with physical disabilities, our goal has remainedthe same nearly twenty years ago, and we strive to ensure that we always meetthe demands of that goal.Opportunities for the Disabled maintains our unique attributes by serving individualswith a diverse and wide spectrum of physical disabilities instead of focusing onone particular disability. Our annual Disability Resource Guide—which we publish as both an Ontario editionand a British Columbia edition—offers accurate and comprehensive resourcespertaining to community services and programs that are concentrated on improvingthe lives of the physically challenged. The 3rd edition of the Ontario DRG and the 11th edition of the B.C. DRG are highlyanticipated and have proven an essential resource to our community partners andthe people we serve. The DRG is an indispensable tool for a physically challengedperson, and we plan on making this unique resource guide available throughoutCanada and the USA.I am very honoured and proud to be a part of this wonderful charity organization, and I sincerely thank everyone who has contributed in some shape or form tomaking Opportunities for the Disabled a pillar of support for physically challengedindividuals everywhere. Sean Stone Executive Director Opportunities for the Disabled
