Position: AIM Advocate/Mentor Department: Youth Services Reports to: AIM Program Director Hours: Part-Time (19 hours/week) FLSA: Non-Exempt Position Summary: The AIM Program (Advocate, Intervene, Mentor) has been modeled to work alongside the Department of Probation to assist program participants in 2 ways: a) The AIM program will provide support and assistance to enable participants to comply with the conditions of Probation as set forth by Family Court. b) The AIM program will address the familial, educational, social, cultural, and mental health issues that frequently accompany participants involvement with the juvenile justice system, in order to help participants changes their trajectory. Part-time Advocate/ Mentors are responsible for developing a strong relationship with up to 2 high- risk youth currently on Probation. Advocate/ Mentors are expected to work collaboratively with parents/ guardians of participants, the AIM Team, the probation officer monitoring participant’s compliance with the conditions of probation, and collateral service providers. Advocate/ Mentors will help participants develop a ‘buy-in’ and ‘readiness for change’ as a platform for navigating the conditions that shaped participants involvement with the juvenile justice system. Advocate/ Mentors are expected to work strategically to help participants achieve objectives and goals outlined in the service plan while enabling participants to maintain their sense of autonomy. In working toward achieving service plan outcomes, Advocate/Mentors will be required to accompany participants to appointments, help participants improve decision-making skills, and intervene during a crisis. Action steps taken by Advocate/Mentors will be guided by a service plan, programmatic expectations, and the lens provided by the Program Director. Responsibilities: • Support, intervene, provide advocacy, and mentor up to 2 high-risk youth on probation. The Advocate/Mentor will be available to participants 24/7, will regularly and proactively address safety issues, and intervene during a crisis or emergency. • Meet with the assigned probation officer on a weekly basis, at a minimum, to review participant’s progress toward achieving service plan goals, and address any challenges undermining the achievement of goals.

• Meet with participants a required number of hours each week. Meetings between Advocate/Mentors and participants may occur anywhere participants are comfortable, i.e. home, community, AIM office, will always be strategically planned, and in the service of deepening a collaborative partnership and/or supporting participants progress toward achieving goals. • Create a weekly schedule of planned activities with participants that incorporate actions steps to achieve service plan goals and the required number of weekly contact hours Advocate/Mentors are expected to have with participants. • Attend on-site and off-site training or events as required by the Program Director, participate in weekly supervision provided by the Program Director, and bi-weekly case conferences facilitated by the Associate Director of Intervention/ Preventive Services. • Identify opportunities for developing a pro-social alignment through participation in community service projects, civic engagement, and/ or involvement in recreational activities or cultural events. • Facilitate weekly workshops in the areas of Preventive Services, Life Skills, Life Redirection, and Leadership. • Record all contact with participants/family and service providers, documenting participant’s engagement in activities, progress toward achievement of service plan objectives and goals, and follow-up actions steps. • Additional duties as assigned by the Program Director and Associate Director for Prevention/ Intervention Services for Youth. Qualifications: • Passion, dedication, and professional experience working with moderate to high-risk youth, ages 13 to 18. • Experience with and knowledge of the Juvenile Justice System, Department of Probation, Family Court, and Alternative to Detentions programs is highly desirable. • Bachelor’s Degree is highly preferred. Five years of comparable experience with this population may be substituted for a college degree. • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus. • Availability during scheduled work hours to ensure that services and teaming are adequately coordinated. May be required to alter scheduled hours depending upon the needs of participants. • Ability to team well and work collaboratively in a fast paced, challenging, and constantly changing environment without becoming overwhelmed or making rash decisions. Program Description: The COMPASS Elementary school program seeks to provide all participants with a range of opportunities for learning, guidance and mentorship, and creative self-expression for improving self-confidence and self-efficacy, cultivating interests and broadening worldviews, for challenging themselves, for helping others, and for becoming engage in their schools and community. We also seek to provide our participants with many of the services to which they would otherwise not have access: computer classes, arts enrichment, tutoring, consistent physical education and recreation, and one-on-one mentorship and guidance. Position: Elementary School Education Specialist Department: Youth Services Reports to: Elementary School Program Director Hours: Part-Time Position Summary: The Education Specialist will be responsible for curriculum development, activity facilitation, and classroom management. Responsibilities:  Oversee and ensure alignment of Common Core Standards and COMPASS STEM program activities with recognized learning standards.  Supervise all academic activities to ensure standards are met.  Assist in the facilitation of curriculum development, and ensure that school day and COMPASS curriculum are aligned.  Lead parent informational workshops including ARIS training.  Supervise and input developmentally appropriate educational curricula for participants in areas of literacy and mathematics.  Create individual academic assessments and plans for enrichment for participants.  Provide professional development training at least once a week on Common Core strategies and lessons plan development.  Attend program meetings and professional development workshops as coordinated by program leadership.

 Participate in special events, staff meetings, USA program committee, monthly Youth Services Department meetings, and all school trips/afterschool events.  Additional duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor, Program Director, Assistant Director of Youth Services, Associate Director of After-School Programming and Director of Youth Services. Position: Middle School Performing Arts Activity Specialist Department: Youth Services Reports to: Middle School Program Director Position Summary: The Performing Arts Activity Specialist will be responsible for curriculum development, activity facilitation, and classroom management. Responsibilities:  Plan and implement weekly lesson plans related to the performing arts includingdrama, theatre, sign language, poetry, rap, spoken word, journaling, storytelling, singing, group projects and/or visual arts for 120 youth during after school and 75 youth during summer academy.  Assist with dismissal and escort students outside of building and across the street toa safe location.  Create a workshop environment conducive for learning.  Create quarterly theme projects and one end of year closing gala.  Produce mandated program reports, including attendance sheets and Goal AchievementPlan (GAP).  Contact parents/guardians weekly with positive inspirations, and log all calls in Google drive. Facilitator engages participants in interactive seasonal sports workshops including, but not limited, to volleyball, hockey, basketball, flag-football, lacrosse, soccer.  Provide age appropriate instruction on competitive skill building, stress management, good sportsmanship, anxiety, warm-up, and cool down for 120 youth during after school and 75 youth during summer academy.  Assist with dismissal and escort students outside of building and across the street toa safe location.  Pick students up at 2:55 from homerooms and escort them to the cafeteria.  Organize and support students with homework help for 45 minutes daily. Review, sign off on each homework sheet, create emergency homework lessons, and collect homework sheets from all instructors daily.  Create a workshop environment conducive for learn.  Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.  Produce mandated program reports, including attendance sheets and Goal Achievement Plan (GAP).  Assist with classroom management, independent reading, classroom connect, and wrap around tutoring during school hours ensuring there are integrated, standardized common core learning strategies.  Identify and review educational plans and future aspirations of each participant on caseload (approximately 25 participants).

The Administrative Assistant would be responsible for coordinating Computer and Business training courses, compiling statistical data for contracts, developing and modifying marketing materials for the BDC and the East Harlem Community Alliance, conducting inventory and ordering of supplies, covering office hours during nightly training sessions, and general office and administrative tasks. Responsibilities: • Registers applicants for training classes. • Maintains Excel spreadsheet of applicants. • Answers all incoming calls and redirects them or take messages. • Provides follow-up to applicants via email/telephone when classes are scheduled. • Maintains binder of sign-in sheets. • Provides messenger service as required. • Creates flyers to market training classes or other BDC programs. • Maintains BDC office open during night training/workshops, as required. • Fulfillments of other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior or Deputy Director or Commercial Revitalization Project Managers. For more information about Union Settlement, please visit our website at www.unionsettlement.org Position: Credit Manager Department: Business Development Center Reports to: Senior Director Hours: Full-Time FLSA: Exempt Position Summary: Union Settlement’s Business Development Center is seeking a Credit Manager who would be responsible for managing the application process for grants and/or loans, offered by the BDC, to East Harlem’s small business owners, under guidelines established by the BDC for this purpose. In addition to processing applications and other documentation, this individual will be required to participate in a pre-training on the terms and conditions of the grant/loan program, and may be required to visit applicants at their storefront locations. General Responsibilities: • Assists the Business Development Center in promoting financial services (grants and loans). • Instructs potential applicants on available financial alternatives (grants and loans) and their terms and conditions. • Receives, organizes and completes application packages, related to the grant/loan program. • Reviews documents submitted and secure missing information. • Creates and maintains applicant files as required. • Assists clients in confirming / cross-verifying information provided in financial applications. • Analyzes applicant’s financial status, credit and property evaluations (if required), to determine the feasibility of receiving the requested grant or loan. • Provides initial recommendations - approval/rejections - of completed applications, in accordance with pre-established terms and conditions. • Submits completed applications for review and final recommendation to the BDC Executive staff.

• Periodically reviews grants and loan portfolios, to ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions, and full accuracy to policy. • Resolves customer complaints and inquiries. • Promptly refers to the BDC Executive Staff any special situations and/or deficiencies of the established procedures and recommended solutions. • Negotiates payment arrangements with clients in default of their payments. • Prepares reports listing the portfolio of clients and their standing with the BDC, as needed. • Submits and provides follow-up on correspondence and notifications regarding customer standings, and delinquencies, and forward irreconcilable accounts for collection action. Qualifications: • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or related degree or H.S. graduate with a minimum 2 years’ experience in comparable positions. • Detail-oriented and able to fulfill all aspects and requirements of applications and supplementary documentation. • Active, good listener (able to detect oral inconsistencies from client interactions pertaining to in-person customers, and interactions with peers and supervisors). • Ability to manage time competently, in order to meet established deadlines. • Organized (able to maintain comprehensive files and identify required information ASAP, when required). • Excellent reading and comprehension skills, in order to effectively and efficiently review applications and supporting documentation, with a full understanding of its’ content and quality. • Excellent communicator, able to clearly express terms and conditions of the grant and loan programs, and communicate decisions with respect to applications while avoiding misunderstandings. • Excellent problem solver who can apply critical thinking and identify and recommend inventive solutions to issues/challenges arising from the information and / or documentation submitted by applicants. • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. • Ability to work flexible hours. • Familiarity with East Harlem businesses is a plus. • Willing learner, who is able to absorb and apply constructive criticism. Position: Project Manager – Buy Local Initiative Department: Business Development Center Reports to: Senior Director of Business Development Center Hours: Full-Time (35 hours weekly) FLSA: Exempt Position Summary: Union Settlement’s Business Development Center is seeking a hard-working, energetic and committed individual, with a capacity to work both independently and in a team environment. This individual will work with Union Settlement’s Business Development Center, the N360/Working Together Project Staff and the East Harlem Community Alliance (EHCA) in order to increase the volume of locally sourced and purchased goods and services among East Harlem businesses. This will include continuing to contact East Harlem’s anchor institutions (hospitals, non-profits, major businesses, etc.) to identify the products/services that can be purchased locally, and bringing together buyers and sellers, with the objective of growing the local economy. Responsibilities: • Establishes relationships with the individuals responsible for procurement in East Harlem’s anchor institutions, in order to assess purchasing needs. • Conducts assessments of local businesses in order to identify sources and determine capacity to the identified demand. • Updates the clearinghouse to match the purchase opportunities with local businesses. • Convenes those who make or and oversee purchasing decisions for the anchor institutions to: (1) Obtains feedback on the design and development of the purchasing clearinghouse. (2) Obtains feedback on how the clearinghouse is working and any changes that are needed to increase its use.

• Collaborates with the Buy East Harlem Committee of the East Harlem Community Alliance (“Alliance”), recruits local businesses to join the Alliance, and attends meetings of the Committee and the Alliance. • Conducts an assessment of local businesses’ marketing needs, obstacles impeding profits or growth, and resources that would enable them to achieve their business goals. • Develops and markets discounts and sales so that Alliance member businesses can enhance their visibility and attract more customers. • Organizes and host events to strengthen links among existing businesses, and to facilitate the exchange of services and create relationships that can reduce business expenses. • Develops and implements new strategies to further assist small businesses in their development and growth. • Assists businesses in identifying and securing needed resources from the city, state or federal government, as well as from local financial institutions. • Maintains tracking and reporting on increases in local purchasing. Position: Director of Early Childhood Education Department: Early Childhood Education Reports to: Associate Executive Director for Early Childhood and Youth Programs Hours: Full-time FLSA: Exempt Position Summary: The Director of Early Childhood Education is responsible for overseeing all the operational and program activities of Union Settlement’s Early Childhood Education program. The Early Childhood Education program consists of six early childhood education/Head Start centers, as well as a Family Early childhood education Network, East Harlem Community Partnership and a separate Asthma Initiative program. The Director must have significant experience in Early Childhood Education and the ability to oversee and manage a large, diverse high-quality education program. The Director is a member of the agency’s senior management team and must be a strong, hands-on manager, with the ability to manage approximately 6 direct reports and oversee a program with approximately 130 employees. Responsibilities include: • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Early Childhood Education program to ensure that all program services are of the highest quality. • Coordinating and supervising the efforts of early childhood staff in developing and maintaining all program components, including education, health, nutrition, social services, parent involvement, mental health, and disabilities. • Maintaining sound financial management over all early childhood program budgets, as well as helping site directors manage their program budgets and ensure timely collection of parent fees. • Representing the agency and maintaining strong working relationships with the Administration of Children’s Services (ACS), NYC Department of Education (DOE) and other government agencies, day care and Head Start employees’ unions, and other community and city-wide organizations. • Reviewing the current program model and develop strategies to ensure full enrollment in all early childhood education/Head Start centers and the Family Early childhood education Network. • Collaborating with and guiding the Delegate Agency Policy Committee (DAPC) of Union Settlement, including recommending new hires and facilitating elections to the DAPC. • Collaborating with the Associate Executive Director, Director of Finance and Director of Development in managing and identifying additional funding sources and responding to requests for proposals.

• Ensuring all statutory and regulatory requirements are met and all required licenses are up to date. • Defining, measuring, and evaluating program performance data. • Creating continuous improvement based on performance data. • Training, supervising and motivating others to engage in appropriate performance management activities. • Evaluating staff performance and identify areas of training needed. The Network Director ensures all statutory and regulatory requirements are met and all required licenses are up to date.
