AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS EASTER CARNIVAL OF PETANQUE 2022 Thursday April 14th to Monday April 18th, 2022 HANDBO OK

WELCOME We sincerely hope you will be able to join us for five days of high-quality, competitive petanque. Please note final event structure, player numbers amd catering capability will be subject to SA Government guidelines at the time of the event. The following information will help in planning your journey to Adelaide, Location: Novar Garden Bowling & Petanque Club is located at 489 Anzac Highway in the suburb of Novar Gardens, which is adjacent to Adelaide’s premier beachside suburb of Glenelg. By car, you are approximately 3 minutes (2.5km) from the Jetty Road precinct at Glenelg, 16 minutes (8.7km) from Adelaide CBD & 10 minutes (7.2km) from Adelaide Airport. The club is easily accessible by car, bus or tram. Please see Page xx for further information. Accommodation: There are many accommodation options in the area, Please refer to pxx for accommodation options within close proximity of the club. There are further options in the city, 16 minutes by car or 20 minutes by tram. Catering: Light meals and snacks will be available for purchase fthroughout the tournament. We will finalise the food offering a month before the event, in line with Covid guidelines for hospitality and catering. Social function: The Nationals Dinner will be held on Sunday April 17th at 6.30pm, subject to regulations. Once confirmed, this event will need to be prebooked and prepaid. Souvenir Polo: We will be producing a ’Nationals at Novar Gardens’ souvenir polo shirt, which will be available for purchase as a memento of the event. If pre-ordered and prepaid, the price will be $35; if ordered at the event, $40 including postage. You can pre order and pay by following the instructions at MyPetanque.com. REGISTER TO COMPETE Player registration will be through the My Petanque Player Registration portal at MyPetanque.com. Tournament registration and payment are the responsibility of PFA and match administration will be under the supervision of PFA-appointed officials. Registration will open from Wednesay March 9th, 2022. Final cut-off date is Sunday April 3rd, 2022 or as soon as events are fully subscribed. If you are planning to come, please register early to avoid disappointment. Priority will be given in order of registrations received. With 35 pistes available, the maximum numbers for each event are as follows: · Singles @ 71 players (temporary pistes may be available but are not guaranteed at this stage) · Doubles @ 71 teams ((143 players) · Triples @ 71 teams (213players) For more information see: www.petanqueaustralia.org.au/news/national-championships-2022- schedule

PLAYING Draft Jan 1st, 2022 CONDITIONS 1. These Conditions are being made available to all prospective players in January 2022. However, the decision to continue or not with the Tournament will be made on 7 March 2022, subject to prevailing Covid travel and other restrictions in place at that time. 2. Prospective players and officials are required to note the current PFA policy regarding COVID vaccination requirements for attendees. See https://www.petanqueaustralia.org.au/documents/pfa-policies-and- procedures/. In addition, the PFA reserves the right to ask for a daily rapid antigen test for unvaccinated participants at the tournament. 3. Attendees should also make sure they are aware of any travel restrictions from the South Australian government at the time. See www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/travel/interstate-travel 4. The Tournament will be conducted according to the FIPJP Rules of Petanque and PFA Timed Game Rules. 5. The Championship Events are open only to Players in Australia holding a current PFA Licence at the time of the Championships. 6. All players must be in a team uniform – a minimum of a shirt. Events 7. There are four Events (Shooting, Singles, Doubles and Triples) and four Divisions for each non-Shooting Event (Open, Women, Open 60+ and Women 60+.) For the Shooting Event, the five Divisions are Men, Women, Men 60+ and Women 60+ and Juniors. There is no separate Junior Division in the non-shooting Events. Juniors are encouraged to play in whatever Division they choose. 60+ means the player was at least 60 years old on 1 July 2021 Junior means being less than 18 years old on 1 July 2021 The Open Division allows registration from any Age and Gender. 8. The Events will be conducted according to the following schedules: Shooting commencing at 2.00 pm on Thursday, 14 April Singles commencing at 8.30 am on Friday, 15 April Doubles commencing at 8.30 am on Saturday, 16 April Triples commencing at 9.30 am on Sunday, 17 April and continuing on Monday.

CONTINUED... Qualification 1. There are no pre-qualifying conditions apart from the Shooting Competition, where: one person will represent each State per Division consisting of the winner or other nominee. participants must have achieved the qualifying score for the Division during rounds of the State competition (Men 30+, Women 25+ and Juniors 15+). 2. In any Division, the following Qualifying Rounds will take place: 6 or 7 Teams – five Random Rounds (ranked by Wins, then Delta, then ‘For’ Points), followed by a Final comprising the top two teams. 8+ Teams – Five Random Rounds (ranked by Wins, then Delta, then ‘For’ Points), followed by Knockout Finals comprising approximately 50-60% of the Qualifying Teams being placed in the Principale (and if required, the Complementaire), with a play-off for 3rd and 4th in the Principale only. Timed Games 3. For the Events, all games apart from the Final Knockout Round will be timed as follows: Singles and Doubles Events – timed to 50 minutes + 1 end, + 1 further end in the event of a tie Triples Events - timed to 60 minutes + 1 end, + 1 further end in the event of a tie Registration 4. Registrations for all events using MyPetanque will be open from Monday 7 March. 5. There is a maximum of 71 teams to be registered for each Event (35 lanes available), with the exception of the Singles, where a number of temporary lanes may be made available. In this case, any player registering for the Singles agrees to play on a temporary lane if required. Attempts will be made to ensure any player plays only one game on the temporary lanes. 6. In order to ensure that Players in each Division have an opportunity to register, all Divisions will be restricted initially to 24 teams to ensure all Divisions have an opportunity to register. These restrictions will be lifted once all Divisions have at least 6 Teams or, at the latest, on Sunday 27 March. 7. If there are fewer than 6 teams registered in a particular Division by 27 March, that Division will be incorporated into the relevant other Division. Players registering for that Division agree to this condition.

CONTINUED... Fees and Prizes 8. Registration Fees Payment Fees are $40 per player in all Events. Payment of registration fees is required by the closing date Sunday 3 April. Payment is by Direct Credit to the PFA Competitions Account only. See MyPertanque.com for details. Fees not paid by then will result in the registration being cancelled. Those on a waiting list will be offered a place after 3 April, should one become available. 9. Cash Prizes and Medals A Perpetual Trophy will be presented to the winners of the Principale in each Division of each Event. Medals will be presented for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Principale and 1st and 2nd in the Complementaire (if played) in each Division of each Event. In the case of Divisions being aggregated, the best-performing team in the cancelled Division will also receive a Medal. Cash prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Principale only in each Division of each Event. The cash prize pool for distribution across all Divisions in an Event is approximately 60% of the entry fees for that Event. Breakfast and Lunches will be available during the tournament There is a Dinner and Social event on Sunday evening – Prior booking required. Please let the organisers know if you are going to want food at the club during the event and if you want to attend the Dinner. A separate form is required to be completed for attendees to the Dinner.

SCHEDULE Thursday 14 April Shooting Starts at 2.00pm, followed by the presentation to the winners and drinks for PFA Members attending the AGM of PFA at 6pm. The Shooting Event will follow the FIPJP rules for Shooting Competitions Friday 15 and Saturday 16 April: Singles and Doubles Sunday 17 and Monday 18 April: Triples

DIRECTIONS Novar Gardens Sports Club is only a 10-minute drive from Adelaide Airport. It is located 3 minutes from Glenelg precinct and less than 20 minutes from Adelaide city centre. By Tram: You can travel from the city or Glenelg via tram. For a short walk, disembark at stop 13 (Glengowrie) Dunbar Terrace. If you miss your stop, don’t worry. You can get off at stop 14 (Glenelg East) Dunbar Terrace heading towards Glenelg, or stop 12 (Morphettville) Morphett Road heading towards the city. By Bus: The club is easily accessible by bus. If you are travelling from Glenelg, get off at stop 17, 505 Anzac Highway (North Side). If you are coming from the city, alight at stop 15, 472 Anzac Highway (South Side). Taxi or Uber: The address is 489 Anzac Highway, Novar Gardens. Carpark entry is off Ferguson Street. By Car: The club has some 50 carparks. Enter off Ferguson Street, which is a left turn off Anzac Highway heading towards the city, then take the first right at the Tennis Club. If the Club car park is full, options include the Glenlea Tennis Club carpark (as you come in off Ferguson Street), or the PHOS Camden Football Club carpark 200 metres further up Anzac Highway towards the city.
