Trumpet-E Magazine Save water Water is a vital part of human life. Our body is made up of seventy percentage of water. Water is necessary for all living creatures on earth, from tiny insects to large blue whale. Even though three by fourth part of the earth is covered with water, we are severely affected by its scarcity. Water is used for drinking, bathing, for house chores, growing plants and in industries etc. People also make dams to generate electricity from water. We get water from different sources like river, wells and rains etc. Water is an essential natural resource for us to live, but now a days the clean water level is decreasing day by day. Humans are the main cause of water pollutions. They throw both, domestic and industrial wastes in to the water bodies. In holy rivers like Ganga people throw half burned dead bodies which cause the pollution. Deforestation is one of the main causes of the low rainfall which can cause drought. If we continue to waste water in this way there will be no water in the coming time due to which life on earth will end. Water conservation has become the biggest need in today’s time which we all should take care of and we should use water in planned way. We should not leave the taps open, water will also have to be prevented from becoming contaminated. Factories should be removed from the river banks. Water conservation methods like rain water harvesting; digging ponds should be introduced to reduce the scarcity of water. Conservation of forest and planting of more trees can help the increase of ground water levels. Spreading awareness among people on importance of water is also a major step in water conservation. Trumpet-E Magazine God’s Help A merchant lives in a village. He grows crops, fruits and vegetables. He sold them in a nearby town. He got money by selling these goods. One rainy day, he was ready to go to the town. He loaded his bullock cart. The road was muddy due to heavy rain. The cart wheels were stuck in the mud. The merchant got angry. He started whipping the bullocks. The bullocks didn’t move. The merchant had to reach the market in time. He knelt down and prayed to God. Suddenly the god appeared before him. He understood that the merchant was lazy. The god said, ‘‘Son, the cart will move forward only if you push the wheels forward’’ and the God disappeared. The merchant got down. He tried hard to push the cart wheels. He tried again. The bullocks felt sad for their master. They too tried hard! Soon the cart started moving. The merchant felt better. He got into the cart and thought about everything that had happened. He realised his mistake. He understood that the bullocks moved easily when he helped them. Trumpet-E Magazine The lost Teddy Once upon a time, in the city of Mumbai, there lived a boy called Bevo. He was a very obedient and disciplined boy. He was loved by all the members of his family. He had a teddy which was a birthday gift from his uncle. He used to carry the teddy wherever he went. If he was eating food, he would keep it in a chair beside him. While playing in the park he would keep it under a tree and like that teddy was with him day and night. One evening, he kept the teddy under a tree and went to play. Suddenly it started raining heavily. All the children ran to their homes. Even Bevo did the same. It was when he reached home it dawned on him that he had left the teddy in the park. He started crying. He feared that someone would steal it. His mom comforted him by saying that the people of that area were good and would not steal it. So Bevo relaxed. But to his horror when he went to park to get his teddy it was not there. Whole night he was crying. The next day also he was very sad. His mother told him to go to play to change his mood and he reluctantly went. To his surprise the teddy was there. He wondered who had taken it. Just then his friend Appu came and said “I had taken your teddy to my home as you had forgotten it. Trumpet-E Magazine MUNNI’S OUTING Once upon a time there was a little girl named Munni. She always liked to go outside and play. But for nearly one year she didn’t go outside because of COVID19 pandemic. She used to look out from the window of her room upstairs, she saw everyone wearing mask Whenever she hears the sound of Ambulance, she knew that someone with this covid 19 is taken to hospital. One day she asked her parents to take her out in their car. Her mother bought some beautiful masks, gloves and sanitizer for her. Along with her parents and sister she went outside in her car. They got out of the vehicle in front of the park which usually she used to visit,she wore her mask and gloves and kept the sanitizer in her bag. But the park was closed and she was not able to see anyone there. Her father told her that because of this pandemic children like her are not allowed to go to public places. So she sadly went inside the car. By looking through the glass she remembered the happy time she spend there, like the way she played in the swing, slide, merry go-round, see-saw, the way she rode the toy scooter and car, played in the rainbow slide. She remembered playing hide and seeks with other children. After spending some time in the car she came back home. Throughout the return journey she was thinking about that day when she will be able to go to park and play. After returning home she washed her hands and took bath. By the tome mother announced that it is the time for dinner. While eating dinner, she thought about the way this pandemic has changed their life. Now at least she was able to spend more time with her parents and sister and also to spend some quality time with her grandmother. Trumpet-E Magazine The lonely puppy Once there lived a puppy who liked to stay alone. One day, when he was having food, a dog named Tommy came near him and said, “Hello my name is Tommy. What is your name?” The puppy didn’t mind the dog. The dog repeated the question. The puppy negligently answered, “My name is Lonely. Everyone calls me Lonely because I always like to stay alone”. The dog told the puppy “I want to be your friend because, I am new in this area, I have no friends here”. “No, you make friendship with others, not with me” saying this puppy walked on. The dog sadly sat there looking at the puppy. At that time a dog hunter was trying to catch the puppy. When the dog saw that, it ran to save the puppy and bit the hunter. He caught the dog, threw it and ran away. Luckily, the dog fell into the grass and wasn’t injured. The puppy ran to see the dog and said “sorry for not accepting you as my friend. Thank you for saving my life”. “Now, can you be my friend?” the dog asked the puppy. “I will surely be your best friend forever”. The dog became happy and they became best friends. In the morning, they thought of a plan. They made themselves look dirty with grease and dirt. Then they went to the Dean and said they had gone out to a wedding last night and on their way back the tire of their car burst and they had to push the car all the way back. So, they were in no condition to take the test. The Dean thought for a minute and said they can have the re-test after 3 days. They thanked him and said they will be ready by that time. On the third day, they appeared before the Dean. The Dean said that as this was a Special Condition Test, all four were required to sit in separate classrooms for the test. They all agreed as they had prepared well in the last 3 days. A well known stage actor, John Wilkes Booth sneaked behind the president, Abraham Lincoln, while he was attending a play with his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln and a, a twenty-eight year old officer named Major Henry R. Rathbone, and Rathbone’s wife, Claire Harris at the Ford’s theatre. Booth aimed the .44-calibre “pocket cannon”, called the Derringer at the president’s skull and pulled the trigger. The man’s last words were, “She won’t think anything about it”, in answer to his wife inquiry, “What will Miss Harris think of my hanging on to you so?” The president slumped forward. A doctor in the audience, Dr. Charles Leave, immediately went upstairs to the presidential box. The bullet had entered through Lincoln’s left ear and lodged behind his right. He was paralyzed and barely breathing. He was carried across Tenth Street, to a boarding-house opposite the theatre, but the doctors best efforts failed. Nine hours later at 7:22 a.m., on April 15th, Lincoln died. Meanwhile, Booth, dropped the pistol and waved a dagger, Rathbone lunged at him, and though slashed in the arm, forced the killer to the railing. Booth leapt from the balcony and the spur of his left boot on a flag draped over the rail, and broke a bone on his leg in a landing. Trumpet-E Magazine RELEVANCE OF KITCHEN GARDENING IN COVID-19 PANDEMIC When I thought of writing an article for the E magazine, first I thought to write something related to our academics. Then I changed my mind and decided to write something which is practical, which is relevant to the present situation of Covid 19 pandemic. Actually this is a request to all my friends. I am talking about making a kitchen garden in our homes, from where we get fresh and healthier fruits and vegetables which are free from pesticides and chemicals, and also free from adulteration. We can make one even if we have less space. In grow bags, plant pots and sacks we can grow vegetables fruits, and herbs. It also can be done as terrace gardening. It will help us reducing our home budget to a large extend, and also can be a small earning to house wives. During this time of Covid if we go out for shopping, the chances of getting infected increases, and also due to restrictions in transportation, the availability of products will be less and of high cost. The big problem of kitchen waste management is solved by making compost for the plants. Dwelling with soil and plants will make our body and mind healthy. It will make our surroundings green; clean with fresh air with good oxygen. Tomatoes, chillies, brinjal, ladies finger, Bitter guard, beans, spinach etc can be easily cultivated. Another important use of kitchen gardening is that definitely it will relieve us from mobile addiction to a large extend. When we harvest something of our own, it will make us feel proud. As we have online classes, we spent most of our time in our home. This is a chance for us to start kitchen gardening with the help of our parents. Let us reveal the farmers within us. Trumpet-E Magazine The late-comer In a small town there lived a small lazy boy whose name was Ashwin. He was always late for everything. He was late in getting up from the bed, late for breakfast, late for bath, and late for school everyday. Some boys in the school began to call him late-comer and the nickname stuck. His mother was also quite fed up with his laziness. One day late-comer went home late as usual but very excited. The principal had announced that a trip to Mysore would be organized. Late- comer wanted to see the beautiful city of Mysore. He asked his mother to let him also go. His mother agreed and gave him money for the tour. Late- comer happily gave his name to the teacher. The day before the trip, his teacher and friends reminded late- comer to come on time. The next morning his mother woke him up early but he continued to lie in the bed feeling too lazy to get up. Then he thought of the tour and jumped out. He ate his breakfast and rushed to the school. But it was already too late. His friends had already left for the railway station. Poor late- comer was nearly in tears. Oh, how he wished he had not stayed in the bed. He hurried to the railway station, hoping that they would wait for them. As he came near, the guard blew his whistle and waved the green flag. The engine whistled loudly and the train began to move slowly. “late- comer, late- comer, hurry up”. The school children shouted loudly as the late- comer came panting on to the platform. But the train had already picked up speed and was moving rapidly. All he could see was the waving of arms. Soon the train disappeared. Late- comer was left on the platform alone, tears in his eyes. He returned home disappointed and promised his mother that he would never be late ever again. Trumpet-E Magazine कर्म और सर्य समय बहुत बहुमलू ्य है। वजसने समय की कद्र करना सीख वलया उसने मानो जीना सीख वलया । वसफभ समय के बारे में कहने के वलए यह लखे नहीं वलखा है मंैने। समय से ही सब जड़ु ा है , इसवलए समय से ही शुरुआत की ह।ै तुम्हारे जन्म से लके र अब तक वजस एक-एक पल को तमु ने हाँसते -रोते वबताया है , क्या तमु उसे दबु ारा पाओग?े नहीं न। यही समय , तमु ्हारे कमों का लेखा जोखा रखता है और कभी तमु ्हंे ऊं चाइयों तक ले जाता है तो कभी ऊं चाइयों से नीचे टपका दते ा ह।ै तुम्हारे कमों के ही कारण कभी तो तुम बड़े खुश होते हो तो कभी रोते -पीटते रहते हो। अब ऐसा गलती से भी मत सोच बठै ना कक कमों पर समय की वनगाह है तो कमभ ही न करंे। ऐसा करना तो बहुत बड़ी बेिकू फी होगी। समय ऐसे कमहभ ीनों को वनठल्ला कहता है और ऐसे वनठल्ले लोगों को तो कोई घास भी नहीं डालता । अब हममे से कोई ऐसी मनहूस ज़िंदगी तो नहीं चाहता । इसवलए सोच समझकर अपनी ज़िंदगी बनाओ। समय रहते अपने आचरण को साँिारो, अपनी बोली को मीठा बनाओ, बड़ों का कहना मानो और उनका आदर करो - ये हुई ज़िंदगी की नींि। अब अपने लक्ष्य को सामने रखो और उसे पाने के वलए प्रयत्नशील बनो। वनवित ही तमु विजयी होंगे। यह सब कु छ इतना आसान नहीं है कक आज कसम ले ली और कल फतह । बच्चू समय से होड है:जीतोगे तभी , जब तुम ईमानदार रहोगे । इधर तुम अपनी राह को भूल,े उधर समय तमु ्हें ऐसा सबक वसखाएगा कक सही राह पकड़ने में तमु ्हें िक्त बहुत लग जाएगा। कहने का मतलब यह है कक Kendriya Vidyalaya Adoor 2020-21

Trumpet-E Magazine ग्लोबलिार्ममग आज के युग मे मनषु ्य कदन प्रवतकदन कई नई – नई तरकीबें लगाकर अपने जीिन को सुखी बनाने का प्रयत्न करता चला आ रहा है और उनका दरु ूपयोग कर प्रकृ वत के साि वखलिाड़ कर रहा है , प्रकृ वत को दोष पहुचं ा रहा है और धरती का सतं ुलन वबगाड़ रहा ह।ै धरती के सतं लु न वबगड़ने के बहुत से कारण है वजनमें ग्लोबल िार्ममग सबसे भयानक ह।ै ग्लोबल िार्ममग का सबसे पहला कारण है ग्रीन हाउस इफ़े क्ट जो ग्रीन हाउस गसै ेस के कारण होता ह।ै ग्रीन हाउस गैसेस के कु छ उदाहरण है - काबभन डाइऑक्साइड , मीिने , नाइट्रस ऑक्साइड इत्याकद।ग्रीन हाउस गसै ेस हमारे िायुमंडल मंे प्राकृ वतक रूप से पाए जाते है लेककन औद्योगीकरण के बाद इसमंे सौ गणु ा बढोत्तरी हुई ह।ै इन गसै ों का उत्सजभन किज , एयर कं डीशनर , कं प्यूटर, थकू टर, कार आकद उपकरणों से होता ह।ै और काबनभ डाइऑक्साइड का सबसे बड़ा स्रोत है पटे ्रोवलयम।ग्रीन हाउस गसै से सूरज के ककरणों को सोख लेता है और पृ्िी का तापमान बढ़ाता ह।ै ग्लोबल िार्ममग हमारे धरती के क्लाइमटे मंे बदलाि ला रहा है और हमें क्लाइमटे चेंज नामक एक कयामत की ओर ले जा रहा ह।ै ग्लोबल िार्ममग के िल हमारे तापमान को ही नही बढ़ाता िह हमारे वहमालय और अटं ाकभ रटक ग्लेवशयर को भी वपघालता है और इस कारण हमारे धरती का समदु ्री सतह बढ़ रहा ह।ै बढ़ते समदु ्री सतह के कारण हमारे बहुत से भू -भाग समदु ्र के अदं र जा सकते ह।ंै िजै ्ञावनकों का मानना है कक ऐसा ही चलता रहा तो 2050 तक बहुत से महानगर जैसे कक मुम्बई, चने ्नई के बहुत से वहथसे पानी के नीचे चले जाएगाँ े और इस कारण करोड़ो लोग बेघर हो जाएगाँ े और एक शरणािी सकं ट शुरू हो जाएगा। और ये है हम सबका का कतवभ ्य है कक इस सकं ट को रोकने के वलए हम सबकोअपना अपना योगदान दने ा चावहए। अवधक से अवधक पेड़ उगाकर , पटे ्रोवलयम ईंधन का उपयोग न करके , सौयभ उजाभ का उपयोग करके , अपने पररिार और वमत्रों को इस सकं ट के बारे मंे जागरूक करके तिा अपने सरकार को इस संकट को रोकने के वलए उवचत कदम उठाने को मजबूर करके हम कु छ हद तक ग्लोबल िार्ममग होते रोक सकते हंै । हमंे अपने आज के सुख के वलए अपने काल को दाि पर नहीं लगाना चावहए। वमलनशंकरशालीन कक्षा :10‘ब’ Kendriya Vidyalaya Adoor 2020-21
