["MISSION SEVEN: NOW WHAT? JOINING HIS MISSION","","MISSION 7: NOW WHAT? JOINING JESUS’ MISSION Preliminary Draft LESSON 1: GROW HIS CIRCLE! U_ L_ NOTES BIG IDEA: KEY TEXT:  CURRICULUM: TAKING AIM: PREPARE: OPENER: We’re going to play an art game. It’s easy and fun! You just have to: 1. Fold your blank piece of paper into three equal sec- tions (portrait, not landscape), make two lines over the top fold to show where the neck is and two lines on the next fold to show where the waist is. 2. Your task is to “create” a head on your sheet, and then the body and legs on two other students’ sheets. At the end, we’ll unfold the papers to see what kind of creations we’ve come up with! [Allow about ten minutes for this, stating that you are only giving two mi- nutes of drawing per section, then time at the end to showcase the creations]. TRANSITION: It’s kind of fun continuing on where someone leaves off and to see where others finish with what you started. In an amaz- ing way, that’s similar to what Jesus has done with us. He started a mission — a mis- sion to bring His life to a lost world — and He invites to continue where He left off. Listen to this verse, written a different gospel writer named Luke (not John): “In my first book [the gospel of Luke], O Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach” (Acts 1:1). So the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) record all the things Jesus BEGAN to do and teach. But now jump down to verse 8: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be wit- nesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” He now invites His followers to continune what Jesus started. In our opening activity, you drew “lines” to show where the next person was to start AND where to finish. Today, I want you to see the line Jesus drew to show His followers where to start and where to finish. You are going to see one amazing truth which, if you get a hold of this — or, rather, let this get a hold of you — it will blow you away! 203","ACTIVITY: For your activity, I’m going to give you Jesus’ passport. Ob- U_ L_ NOTES viously, it’s not a real passport. But you are going to trace the line Jesus made as He travelled for 3.5 years on this earth. You might find this un- usual, but during that short time, Jesus basically travelled only in a small circle within Israel. Famous musicians often embark on a “world tour” to promote their work, but not Jesus. He stuck to one small circle, which He travelled only 2.5 times. That’s it! Yet that “tour” has forever impacted our world in what I call MIS- SION 04-03-16 (which I’ll explain at the end) WHOLE GROUP: 204","ACTIVITY: U_ L_ NOTES WHOLE GROUP: 205","206 YOUR TASK: 1.
