Peggy was a long-time resident ofLitchfield who loved the Oliver Wolcott Library. For many years of her life, she was here at thelibrary on a daily basis working on the second floor of the library in the offices used by theConnecticut Volunteer Services for the Blind and Handicap. She was a true friend of thelibrary: her generous support, her concern that all people have access to information, andfriendly smile always welcomed and inspired us.It was truly an honor for us to be gifted her work of abstract paintings and a select group ofher renowned sculpture to exhibit and sell. We thank the Reventlow Estate for giving us thisopportunity, Lauren Della Monica for her expertise in curating the Gallery Exhibit, andeveryone who joined us at the opening and viewed the exhibit to celebrate her life and art. “I was always afraid to walk into an Art Gallery. They are so intimidating…The library’s gallery makes me feel at ease, that I belonged there… I fell in love with watercolor painting while I sat there for a meeting, and every day it makes me smile when I see it on my wall.” ~Jesse

Wefelt it was more accurate to count only Wowbrary views rather than counting all Wowbrary e-receipts.We modified last year’s number so that it also reflected this change.* The OWL is an innovator. We were one of the first libraries in the country to offer personalized servicelike our Book-a-Librarian program. As a result, the State Library originally asked us to count this serviceas a program statistic, as they continued to explore where this service should be allocated. The federaland state libraries recently determined that one-on-one services such as our Book-a-Librarian should notbe counted as a program. (It is now counted as a reference question). As a result, the number of adults wereached through Book a Librarian and exam proctoring (a one-on-one service) was not counted this year.In order to compare \"apples to apples,” we removed that number from our FY14-15, reducing the numberfrom an average of 423 per month to 385 per month.
