Feminism is a word that has                                                  had a lot of meanings                                                      throughout the world                                                        and the years. As far            L    e   t  ´ s     s  e   e                       as we know, it could  O      u      r    s      e      l  v      e      s      a      s        p      e      o      p      l  e                    Tbeh iso nweo mrdo, rsein laceb eitl .                                                       has time being used,                                                     has been changed                                                    depending on the culture.                                         It has been mold into everycountry as the same, but still, having differentaspects. This word was meant to describe feminineaspects, but then, people or better said women gave ita modern meaning. It began being related to women´svote. It was used to fight for the right of property andprofession. Later, some people started seeing it like athreat to moral values, to family values. Why? Well,the word took a deeper meaning. It was not only aboutwomen anymore, people tried to generalize the word.      ACADEMICS MAGAZINE | 9

We agree that, nowadays, feminism and feminist relate to the equalityof rights. Even though, we believe in equality of rights, we do notnecessarily believe in feminism. There are two types of feminism; normalfeminism, which defends women´s rights and stands for any attemptagainst their dignity. And there is also, black feminism, which stands forthe margined society, which includes gay, transgender, AfricanAmericanpeople, and also men. For example, AfricanAmerican women demandedto be respected as well as their bodies, in order to do not be seen asexotic. They made the relation of their bodies with hair. We see curled hair,straight hair, short, long, and it is normal, none of those is rare or exotic.We accept the fact that both are good reasons, but we perceive there is nounity in the concept.    We think this word should not be used because today it is said to“stand” for social, political, and economical equality of the sexes. But wewonder how it can be for both if it is based and has a femininebackground. We have observed that most feminist in social media aregrown women. Such as Coco Chanel, Eva Peron, Bell Hooks, Oprah,Beyoncé, among many others. We have seen that their past experienceshas made them rough and has obligated them to demand their rights. Butnow, although violation of rights is still normal for women and men, there isthe possibility that the concept of feminism has gotten out of control, lettingit be an abuse of power sometimes, or being confused as antimaleideology.    In conclusion, why should we struggle to have a label other thanequality or respect? Why to keep looking and deform the essence of thebalance with strange denominations? Because you could be a formerfeminist or a modern feminist, but still, the initial point for these movementswas to look for the respect that each gender deserves. This way, notbalancing more into one side or the other. You can say which kind of“feminist” you are, or, you can just say what you stand for.
