Lesson Plan - 1 Computer Science Animation Basics Topic- Introduction Class: Period: Mode: Classroom/Lab Teacher: ____________________________________________________________________________________ Learning Support Assistant: ____________________________________________________________ S.M.A.R.T. Learning Objectives By the end of this session, students will be able to: 1. Identify different components of the Adobe Flash CS6 interface. 2. Use the stage area of Flash CS6 for creating animations. 3. Create and save files in Flash. 4. Use 12 tools from the toolbar sections of Flash. 5. Select options specific to the selected tool in the options panel. Resources 1. video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e49ABC_THP8 (10.00) 2. video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sZF8jx5tA4 (0.00-1.38) 3. Use the eContent to show the animated demos of the lesson. Session Conduction Engage: Ask students which cartoon they like. Have they wondered how their favorite cartoons are created? Do computers play any role in creating such cartoons? Once they answer tell them that such animated movies are a work of visual art that communicate ideas, stories, perceptions, and emotions through the use of moving images. In traditional animation, images are drawn or painted by hand but now computers are used for creating such animation Concept introduction: Explain the basic idea behind the animation is to playback the recorded images at the rates fast enough to fool the human eye into interpreting them as continuous motion. Animated visuals are a lot more engaging than plain. Such special effects are an everyday part of modern entertainment, including television shows, movies,
video games, and presentations. Most animators use software for creating such animations. Some of the best animation software in the market are Scratch, Adobe Flash, Adobe Animate, and, Animaker, etc. Give an introduction about Adobe Flash. Flash is an easy-to-use software with a lot of options for creating animations Concept Demo/Explanation: Open Flash Professional CS6 from the start menu and explain the different components menu bar, toolbar, stage, timeline, panels, etc. in the interface. Ask students to compare the Flash interface with the Photoshop interface. Show flash toolbox which has many tools to draw graphics, fill color, gradient color, and modify the shape of the drawn by the tools. Some tools are hidden tool that is indicated by a little black triangle shape that is situated in the right bottom corner of the tools. Some of the tools are the same as in Scratch, MS Paint, Photoshop, etc. Show the tools to students and ask how many of the tools they recognize and ask students to describe them. Depending on the tool selected, the Options Tray may display some of the options, or properties, that control the functionality of each particular tool while other controls may appear in the other Flash CS6 panels. Concept Practice: Create a new flash document specify the size, background color, frame rate, and settings of the Flash file. Discuss what is workspace and how it can be changed. Draw a curve using a pen tool. Show how to use different tools in Flash like Arrow, Sub- Select, Line, Lasso, Pen, Text, Oval, Rectangle, Pencil, Brush, Ink Bottle, Paint Bucket, Dropper, and Eraser. Click each tool and notice the changes in the Colors and Options panel to reflect specific features that are available for the active tool. Use the steps from the book. Optional Activity: Students can watch the videos from the resource sections. Practical Application: Complete the lab activities. Home Assignments 1. Revise the topic covered. 2. Practice the interactive exercises in Edusoft Smart App. 3. Solve any additional exercises on playground.edusoft.co.in. Guided Assignments

Lesson Plan - 2 Computer Science Animation Basics Topic-Layers and Timeline Class: Period: Mode: Classroom/Lab Teacher: ____________________________________________________________________________________ Learning Support Assistant: ____________________________________________________________ S.M.A.R.T. Learning Objectives By the end of this session, students will be able to: 1. Use the timeline to organize and control animations 2. Create, rename, hide, unhide, lock, and unlock layers. 3. Understand what are frame and keyframe 4. Learn about fps which controls the speed of the animation. 5. Create a simple animation of a bouncing ball effect in Flash Resources 1. video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sZF8jx5tA4 (1.38 onwards). 2.video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bADV3wwXmKU (0.00 to 1.36). 3. Use the eContent to show the animated demos of the lesson. Session Conduction Engage: Recap the previous topic. Concept introduction: Introduce timeline as one of the most important tools in Flash. On a timeline, we have frames and layers. The timeline tool helps to organize assets in our document, and also controls a document's content over time. In the timeline, we work with frames to organize and control the flow of our document. Frames are placed in the timeline in the order we want the objects in the frames to appear. Layers control the stacking order of objects. Ask students to recall the layers from Photoshop. Concept Demo/Explanation: Explain fps which is the measure of how smoothly animations run. If we set the fps as 30 it means the animation has to run in 30 seconds.
Moviemakers typically shoot video at a minimum of 24fps because this is believed to be the lowest frame rate required to make motion appear natural to the human eye. Animation in flash typically has fps 12. Editing our document is a simple matter of moving, cutting, and pasting frames until they look good and work well. Tell students why we use keyframes that indicate a change occurring in the timeline, for example, a keyframe can indicate the moment at which the graphic image appears or changes in the animation. Like if we create an animation of a box moving, the two keyframes will be the starting point of the motion and the endpoint of the motion. Next, explain layers which are like transparent sheets that stack on top of one another, and each layer can contain images, text, or animations that display on the Stage. To help keep those objects in place, Flash let us lock layers so that we cannot select the items on a layer and accidentally move them. Concept Practice: Open the timeline panel and explain the different buttons on it which are used for working with layers, creating a new frame, frame rate indicator, etc. Create a layer and rename a layer, lock or unlock layers, and hide or display layers using the layer panel. Draw circle, rectangle, and polygon in 3 different layers as mentioned in the book. Use the bouncing ball animation described in the book to create a simple animation using Flash CS6. This example shows how to add keyframes and frames in an animation. Optional Activity: Watch the videos from the resources section. Practical Application: Ask students to complete the lab activities. Home Assignments 1. Revise the topic covered. 2. Practice the interactive exercises in Edusoft Smart App. 3. Solve any additional exercises on the playground.edusoft.co.in Guided Assignment Ask students to visit https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/working-with-layers-in- flash/#:~:text=Layers%20are%20one%20of%20the,without%20interfering%20with%2 0other%20layers and https://helpx.adobe.com/in/animate/using/frames- keyframes.html and have a discussion with teachers about their findings.
