Use the eContent to show the animated demos of the lesson. Session Conduction Engage: Ask students where have they seen tabular data. Show a timetable written in a bulleted list and in tabular format. Then ask students which one is easier to read timetable in bulleted list form or timetable in table format. Use the example of train and flight schedule which when presented in tabular format looks more neat, readable, and can be accessed easily. Concept introduction: Tables in MS Word 2016/2019 are made up of rows and columns with an organized arrangement of text. We can also edit/modify a word table to make it more creative. Multiple operations can be performed on a table in MS Word-like changing the layout, designing, splitting cells, merging the cells, applying borders, etc. Concept Demo/Explanation: Explain the benefits of using tables for storing information. Tables are used to organize too detailed or complicated data to be described adequately in

the text, allowing the reader to quickly see the results. They can be used to highlight trends or patterns in the data and to make a document more readable Explain the three ways to insert tables in a word document. Table text has font formatting options too. Give examples of when cells need to be merged one example is when we need to give headings or titles. We can split cells in Word to undo any merging done previously or to play around with the design of the table. MS Word 2016/2019 has preformatted designs that can be used to style the table. For e.g., we want the table in shades of blue, with a dark blue row at the top to distinguish headings and alternating white and light blue rows to make it easier to read each row. With Table Styles, we don’t have to figure out how to do all that formatting, just pick the style we want, and Word does the rest. Concept Practice: Create a table using 3 methods in MS Word 2019/2016. Use the grid option, insert the table dialog box, and draw a table. After creating a table navigate through the table using different keyboard shortcut key combinations. Refer to the navigation and selection table given in the chapter. Move the table using the move handle. Align the text in the table. Add and delete rows and columns in a table using the Layout tab. Show how to merge and split cells using Layout tabs. Design the table using the preformatted designs from the Design tab. Discuss the brain Jogger activities with students. Optional Activity: Students can watch the video from the resources section. Practical Application: Ask students to complete the Lab Masti exercises. Home Assignments 1. Revise the topic covered. 2. Practice the interactive exercises in Edusoft Smart App. 3.
