THE AUTOMOBILE RACING CLUB OF AMERICA TheAutomobile Racing Club ofAmerica will kick off its 67th season in 2019 as it always has, dedicated to giving its fans, competitors and sponsors the same high level of competition they’ve experienced from the organization’s founding in 1953 through the present. The Midwestern-based stock car sanctioning body was founded by John and Mildred Marcum, and today is led by their grandson, Ron Drager. The Marcums founded ARCA after encouragement from their friends William H.G. France and his wife Anne B. France, founders of NASCAR. That relationship predates the founding of both NASCAR and ARCA, and it has carried over three generations to culminate with NASCAR’s acquisition of ARCA in 2018. The history and tradition is a huge part of what ARCA is, and it’s going to stay that way. WELCOME Welcome to the 2019 ARCA Menards Series! We know there have never been more ways to spend your hard-earned money on enter- tainment. And there are more options than ever before on how to spend your time, includ- ing a device you take with you everywhere you go that has seemingly unlimited options to pass your time. So it means a lot to us that you’ve chosen to spend your time with us, and as we have for the last 66 years, we at ARCA are going to do everything we can to ensure you have a great day at the races. ARCA has been sanctioning stock car races since 1953, and 67 years later we have never been busier. We will sanction 20 races in the ARCA Menards Series, and dozens more in the ARCA/CRA Super Series, ARCA Midwest Tour, and at our two weekly race tracks Toledo Speedway and Flat Rock Speedway. All told, we’ll administer over 100 events in 2019 in 13 different states. The ARCA Menards Series is the most diverse stock car tour in America, with 20 races at 18 different tracks. This year, we’ll pay visit to superspeedways like the 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway, short tracks such as the 0.375-mile Elko Speedway, and for good mea- sure we throw in two races on one-mile dirt tracks at Springfield and DuQuoin. One of the great things about coming to an ARCA race is access. You will have a chance to get up close to the drivers and cars as virtually every event on the schedule has an autograph session that is attended by the overwhelming majority of the drivers. In many cases, that autograph session is down on the track, next to the racecars, just before the drivers strap in and go to battle. If for some reason you can’t make it to the track, we still have you covered. Every one of our 20 ARCA Menards Series races is broadcast live by our television partners, FS1, FS2, and MAVTV. If you aren’t next to your television, you can follow along on your phone – you know, that little device you carry with you everywhere you go – by visiting ARCARacing. com for free live timing & scoring from every event on our schedule. Over the last 66 years, 334 different drivers have added their name to the ARCA record book as winners of an ARCA Menards Series race. Our history includes some of the big- gest names in the history of motorsports and some names that were made right here, on the Midwestern short tracks, on the dirt miles, and on the wide-open superspeedways we run in conjunction with NASCAR. Names like Kimmel, Katona, Bowsher, and Steele are joined by Allgaier, Allison, Busch, Logano, Newman, Petty, Schrader, Stewart, and Waltrip as ARCA winners. The Southern Illinois 100 marks round #9 of the 2019 ARCA Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge – 11 races at 10 different tracks, all one mile in length or less. - A short-track championship within the overall championship - Only race points are counted. A driver’s best 10 finishes in the 11 short track events are counted. - Champion crowned at Lucas Oil Raceway on Saturday, October 5, 2019 and recognized at annual championship awards banquet Michael Self had no dirt track experience prior to starting the Allen Crowe 100 at Springfield, but he didn’t let that stand in his way as he recorded his fourth victory of the 2019 season. The dirt races represented a part of the schedule in which the championship frontrunners could lose a lot of ground in the standings to drivers who came from a dirt racing background. Instead, Self extended his overall championship points lead and took over the top spot in the Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge standings. Chandler Smith had led the Short Track Challenge standings for most of the year, but never intended to compete at the two dirt events. Smith slipped out of the lead for the first time since Nashville in May, falling into a tie for third place, and will likely fall even further as he has no plans to race at DuQuoin. Ty Gibbs held down second place in the Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge heading into Springfield and appeared poised to take the lead with Chandler Smith sitting out. Despite being one of the drivers in the field with minimal or no dirt experience, Gibbs ran very strong early on and even led ten laps. The surprising run from Gibbs came to a crashing halt not long past the halfway point of the race when he experienced overheat- ing issues, a common recurring problem for teams at the dirt races. Gibbs spent an extended amount of time in the pits before heading back onto the track, only to become involved in a late-race caution. Gibbs came home 15th, 24 laps behind winner Michael Self. To add onto Gibbs’ misery, Self leapfrogged Gibbs to take the Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge lead. Gibbs remains in second place, and his 1630 points put him 60 behind Self’s 1690 points. The good news for Gibbs, if there is any, is that he has a 55-point cushion over his next-closest competitors. Chandler Smith and Bret Holmes are tied for third behind Gibbs with 1575 points. The Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge will wrap up the dirt portion of its schedule at the DuQuoin State Fair- grounds on Labor Day weekend. For just the second time in the history of ARCA at DuQuoin, the event will be run under the lights at night. Attrition is expected to be high – 17 or fewer cars have been running at the finish of every dirt race for the last four seasons – and the young pavement standouts that make up the top of the Short Track Challenge standings will have to be careful if they want to remain in contention for the title. Drivers without dirt experience such as Michael Self, Ty Gibbs and Corey Heim all excelled at Springfield by leading laps, but they’ll have to do it all over again at DuQuoin. The Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge is a championship within a championship for the drivers of the ARCA Menards Series. ARCA introduced the Short Track Challenge Series prior to the 2015 season as a way for drivers not eligible to compete in the entire 20-race schedule to have a chance to race for a championship. As a driver development series, ARCA attracts drivers as young as 15 years of age who are eligible to compete on tracks 1 mile or less in length. The Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge intends to benefit these drivers. The concept achieved its goal in the very first year, as then-15-year-old Kyle Weatherman, too young to run the entire schedule, was able to race for a title and won the inaugural Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge title. Weatherman also earned the Bounty Rookie of the Year honors for his 2015 season performance. 2019 CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE The battle for the ARCA Menards Series championship has been entertaining from the start of the season. Three drivers, Christian Eckes (No. 15 JBL Audio Toyota), Michael Self (No. 25 Sinclair Lubricants Toyota), and Travis Braden (No. 27 MatrixCare/Consonus Health Care/Liberty Village Ford) traded the lead throughout the first half of the season, and now, with just four races to go Eckes is stalking his Venturini Motorsports teammate for the title. While they play a game of cat and mouse, they also have to keep their eyes on Bret Holmes (No. 23 Holmes II Excavation Chevrolet). Holmes, still looking for his first career ARCA win, has been exceedingly consistent throughout the sea- son and is still within striking distance of Self and Eckes despite a tough month of July. Not only is the fight for the driver’s championship fun to watch, there are some interesting stories in the ARCA Menards Series owners points with four races remaining. It’s perhaps not a huge surprise to see team owner Billy Venturini on top of the standings. The No. 20 team has five wins, one with Harrison Burton at Daytona and four more with short track ace Chandler Smith. The No. 20 has 15 top-ten finishes in sixteen starts which has allowed Venturini to build a 190-point advan- tae over Chad Bryant’s No. 22 team. What is surprising is that team that has a rotating cast of drivers behind the wheel is leading the owner’s standings. In fact, the top four car owners in the standings are there on the strength of the performance of multiple drivers. Bryant’s No. 22 has had Connor Hall, Corey Heim, and Ty Majeski behind the wheel. Majeski has racked up three wins in five starts, while Heim has five top- five and nine top-ten finishes in ten starts. Hall drove to an eleventh-place finish in his only ride in the No. 22. 11

Bill Venturini’s No. 15 team planned on racing all season with just one driver - Eckes - at the wheel. Unfortunately, that plan went out the window at Salem in the spring when Eckes fell ill the night before the race. Daytona winner Burton slipped in and finished eighth, keeping the team in the midst of the owner’s points battle. Eckes has added abnother thirteen top-ten finishes, nine of which were in the top five and two wins. The No. 15 team sits third in the standings, 220 points out of the lead. Coy Gibbs, owner of the No. 18 team, sits fourth in the standings. Gibbs has had three drivers behind the wheel of his racecars in 2019, including his son Ty on the short tracks, 2017 Bounty Rookie of the Year Riley Herbst at the majority of the superspeedway events, and Todd Gilliland in a one-off appearance at Pocono. Ty’s first career win at Gateway is one of nine top-five finishes the No. 18 has so far in 2019, and they currently sit 260 points out of the lead. Cathy Venturini’s No. 25 team is the first one in the standings to have the same driver throughout the season. Michael Self, the current series driver points lead- er, has four wins and twelve top-ten finishes, all of which have been among the top five. Despite being in the hunt for the driver’s championship, the No. 25 team is 280 points behind the No. 20 for the lead in the owner’s standings. Most notably, the gap between the No. 25 team and the four teams in front of it mean it’s almost certain that for the first time since 1995, the owner’s champi- on will not have fielded the team of the driver’s champion. That season, Andy Hillenburg won the driver’s championship by 45 points over second-place Bobby Bowsher. But Hillenburg ran 20 of the 21 races for his own team. He ran the season opener at Daytona, a race he won, driving for Ken Schrader. With Bow- sher behind the wheel of his father Jack’s familiar No. 21 Ford in all 21 races, that gave them enough points to nip Hillenburg and split the driver and owner’s championships. 12

ON Live television broadcast times for the 20 races on the 2019 ARCA Menards Series schedule have been released, starting with the series’ next race at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. Seven of the remaining ARCA Menards Series races will be televised live on FS1 and FS2, while MAVTV will broadcast twelve events. It is the first time in the series’ long history that each event is scheduled for live television broadcast. The season opener at Daytona International Speedway was broad- cast live on FS1, the 19th consecutive season the Daytona event was broadcast on the FOX Sports family of networks. The races on the FOX Sports family of networks include the majority of the General Tire Superspeedway Challenge events, the lone excep- tion being the series’ visit to Gateway Motorsports Park which will be televised live on MAVTV. The 2019 season is the second of a three-year agreement with FOX Sports, an extension of a relationship that dates back to 1997 when the network – then called SpeedVision – broadcast its first race from Salem Speedway. Six races will be broadcast live on FS1, starting at Daytona, plus events at Talladega, Charlotte, Michigan, Chicagoland, and Pocono, while two will be live on FS2, starting with the first event at Pocono and the sea- son finale at Kansas. MAVTV will carry the entirety of the Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge, with all eleven short track events live on the motorsports-themed net- work. Those races include both visits to Salem, Nashville, Toledo, Madison, Gateway, Elko, Iowa, Springfield, DuQuoin, and Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis. 14

2018 REVIEW Sheldon Creed had shown flashes of brilliance in his ARCA Menards Series career before the start of the 2018 season, but he had nothing but potential to show for it. Creed, from Alpine, California, had made 17 starts and was impressive at times, scoring nine top ten finishes along the way. That included a solid runner-up performance at DuQuoin in 2017, a finish that he backed up with a third place run at Kentucky. But those great runs were peppered with disappointment as well, as mechanical failures and incidents resulted in finishes well outside the top twenty. Things changed in 2018 for Creed, who teamed with former driver turned crew chief Mark McFarland and his partners Matthew Miller and Doug Fuller for a full season run. Whatever was missing before had been found, because Creed was impressive right out of the gate. Creed scored seven top five finishes in the season’s first eight races, including his first career win when he pulled into victory lane at Michigan in June. Already in the driver’s seat for the ARCA Menards Series championship, Creed turned the heat up on the competition from there. Additional summertime wins at Gateway and Iowa built a nearly insurmountable points lead heading into the season finale at Kansas. When Creed rolled off pit road for the final race of the season, the championship went from technically his to officially his. But that didn’t keep him from putting on a show throughout the day. Creed was swept into a mid-race accident, pitted for repairs, restarted from the back before working his way through the field to claim his fourth win of the year. It was the perfect exclamation point to one of the most impressive seasons in recent memory. Led by crew chief Jeff Stankiewicz, Creed and his MDM crew racked up 16 top-ten finishes, 18 top-ten finishes, led 501 laps, and four General Tire Pole Awards. Perhaps the most impressive stat of the sea- son, however, was his 4.2 average finish. Simply put, Creed was a dominant force all season long. He also won the coveted Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge title and his team owner Matthew Miller earned the General Tire Superspeedway Challenge championship. McFarland’s MDM organization didn’t stop there. Zane Smith also recorded four wins, including a statistical dead heat at Talladega decided by mere inches over Joe Graf, Jr. Smith also won at Nashville, Toledo, and Pocono on his way to the Bounty Rookie of the Year title. MDM also won with Harrison Bur- ton at the wheel in the other Pocono race and Brandon Jones at Charlotte. MDM won half of the ARCA Menards Series’ 20 races in 2018. Venturini Motorsports, a mainstay of the ARCA Menards Series since 1983, was not to be denied either. VMS drivers accounted for eight wins throughout the season, including Michael Self’s wins at Daytona at Chicagoland, Christian Eckes’ three wins at Salem, Springfield, and Lucas Oil Raceway, 16-year-old Chandler Smith’s two wins at Madison and Salem, and open wheel dirt track ace Logan Seavey’s win at DuQuoin. While Chandler Smith only started nine races in 2018, he was so dominant that he locked up the Valvoline Lap Leader Award by nearly 300 laps over the competition. Smith led 763 laps, 299 more than champion Sheldon Creed who was second. Other winners in 2018 included Gus Dean, who followed up his 2017 Talladega win with his second career win at Elko, and Joe Graf, Jr. who won a fender-banging last-lap duel with Zane Smith at Berlin. The 2018 season saw ARCA competition initiatives such as the ARCA Ilmor 396 and the Five Star composite body continue to give teams benefits. All 20 race wins, all 100 potential top five finishes, and 199 out of 200 possible top ten finishes were earned by cars with the ARCA Ilmor 396 and the Five Star composite body. 19

2018 CHAMPION Sometimes it takes a while to figure out you’re going to be pretty good at something. That’s exactly how it was when Sheldon Creed started his stock car racing career. Creed, from Alpine, California, had excelled in all forms of motorsports he participated in from the time he was a youngster. So when he first strapped into a stock car, he thought he’d pick up right where he left off. After all, he was the youngest winner in the history of the Stadium Super Truck Series, and had competed for championships in every type of racing he’d ever been in. It didn’t quite work out that way. Creed struggled to adapt and with those struggles became frustrat- ed. The talent and speed were there but getting to the end and being in contention to win were an issue. When he paired with MDM Motorsports and crew chief Jeff Stankiewicz, that’s when Creed’s stock car career came alive. MDM’s equipment was solid and Stankiewicz’s leadership brought Creed from a middle of the pack rookie to a championship contender almost overnight. Creed’s 2018 season was nothing short of spectacular. He won four times, including his first career victory on the fast sweeping high-banks at Michigan. He followed it up with wins at Gateway, Iowa, and a rousing come-from-behind win in the season finale to clinch the championship at Kansas. Creed closed the season with sixteen top-five finishes, eighteen top-ten finishes, four General Tire Pole Awards, 501 laps led, and an impressive season-long average finish of 4.2. He and his team also swept the majority of ARCA’s post season special awards, including the Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge, the General Tire Superspeedway Challenge, and Cometic Crew Chief of the Year, the General Tire Pole Award, the R.E. Lightning Award, the S&S Volvo Laps Completed Award, and he helped give Toyota its second consecutive and third overall manu- facturer’s title. 21

To win the Bounty Rookie Challenge is an accomplishment in and of itself. The list of drivers who have been the ARCA Menards Series rookie of the year is long and distinguished, and you have to succeed on the race track and represent the sport well off of it. The battle for the 2018 Bounty Rookie Challenge came down to the final race of the year, between teammates Zane Smith and Chase Purdy. Smith held the lead going into the final event of the season at Kansas, but Purdy was within striking distance. As series officials only tally a driver’s best 15 finishes in the 20-race season in the total towards the Bounty Rookie Challenge, anything could happen. Purdy did all he could do, finishing fifth on the day, while Smith was caught up in a late-race incident and finished 17th. It wasn’t quite enough to close the gap, and Smith edged his teammate to become the 61st driver in series history to earn the rookie of the year crown joining the likes of 2017 Bounty Rookie of the Year Riley Herbst, current NASCAR Cup Series drivers Alex Bowman, Chris Buescher and Michael McDowell, and NASCAR Hall of Fame members Benny Parsons and Davey Allison. Smith has moved on to the NASCAR XFINITY Series for 2019, driving a partial schedule for Dale Earnhardt, Jr.’s JR Motorsports. 22

This flag is used to signal the beginning of the race and any restarts. Yellow (caution) The track is not clear, slow down and hold your position behind the pace car. This flag is used to signal an accident, debris caused by contact or mechanical failure or weather-related issues. ARCA rules allow cars to bunch up behind the leader. Red The track is unsafe and there is a situation that requires immediate attention. Cars must go to a designated location and stop. This flag is usually waved in cases of heavy precipitation, an accident which requires immediate medical assistance or if the track is blocked. Blue with Yellow Stripe Pay attention to your mirrors, because a faster car is approaching from behind. Contrary to popular opinion, this flag does not make it mandatory that slower cars must move over for the leader of the race. This flag gets a workout at tracks like Salem and Toledo, where traffic becomes a major factor. Black Come into the pits immediately for consultation. Normally, this flag is waved at an individual car, either because it has a mechanical problem or has broken a rule. Waved in combination with a red flag signals the end of a practice session. Black with White Cross Cars that refuse to acknowledge the black flag are shown this flag, which means ARCA will no longer score them until they come into the pits for consultation. White There is one lap remaining in the scheduled distance. Checkered The event has reached its scheduled distance and is complete. 25

FIVE STAR RACE CAR BODIES Teams competing in the ARCA Menards Series have the option of running new flange-fit, modular panel, composite material bodies at all tracks. At Daytona and Talladega, the only body eligible for competition is the Five Star Body. The showroom stock-appearing Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion and Chevrolet SS body packages are constructed with state of the art, composite laminate blend materials. They are engineered to be lightweight and durable, and to resist de- flection at high speeds. The complete body is comprised of 12 flange-fit modular panels, for ease of installation and quick replacement, and weighs less than 135 pounds. The ease-of-installation design allows teams to install the entire body in their respective shops, and to perform replacement of damaged panels at the team’s shop or at the track, resulting in significant savings in time and labor required for repairs. ARCA ILMOR 396 The ARCA Ilmor 396 is a progressive and innovative engine package option which debuted in 2015. • The purpose-built engine was developed and is assembled and maintained exclusively by Ilmor Engineering. • The engine utilizes a 396-cubic inch displacement steel engine block and delivers a minimum 700 horsepower and 500 foot pounds of torque running at 7500 RPM. • The engine is fuel-injected with a Holley Electronic Control Unit controlling the entire fuel injection and ignition systems. 28

THE CREW Your local auto shop might change your tires, but that’s where the simi- larity to an ARCA pit stop ends. In just 15 seconds, an ARCA pit crew can change four tires, make chassis adjustments and even supply a full tank of Sunoco race fuel. At any of the 20 races on the 2019 schedule, your favorite team will need to make a pit stop to refuel and take new tires in order to achieve optimal performance. Fast pit stops are vital to success; anything less than perfection can make a contender lose multiple posi- tions. Six team members are permitted by ARCA to be “over the wall” and service a car during a pit stop. Tire Carriers Two tire carriers for each team (one for the front, one for the rear) start on the right side and proceed back to the left side, carrying new tires over the pit wall to hang for tire changers Jacker Each team’s jack man carries a hydraulic jack weighing approximately 20 pounds to lift the car on both sides (right first, left second), allowing the tires to be changed. Fueler This crew member fills the car’s fuel cell with a maximum of three 12-gallon cans of fuel, which weigh 81 pounds each. Tire Changer The tire changers begin by removing and replacing the right-side tire using an air-powered impact wrench to loosen and tighten five lug nuts, which hold the wheel in place. The tire changer moves to the opposite side of the car to change the other tire. Support Crew Crew members behind the pit wall help by passing tires and fuel cans and collecting items used in the pit stop by those who are over the wall. ARCA Official Crews are supervised by ARCA officials, who work to maintain safety and watch for rule violations. 29
