The Lost sheep Blesson Chacko George Rangat What does it mean when a person believes in Jesus look most of the Pharisees had a problem with Jesus because he ate with the sinners and allowed them to follow him. Jesus taught them this parable to help them understand if one of you has hundred sheep and even if one is lost will you not leave the rest and go to look for the Lost sheep. When you find it you are very happy and tell everyone that you found your lost Sheep you will call your friends and celebrate. In the same way when a sinner repents there is a lot of rejoicing in heaven. A shepherd spent a great deal of time with his sheep and most likely knew each one by name. Every sheep was important and his goal is to keep every one of them safe. This is the kind of care that God has for mankind. He knows each of us by name. He does not want even one of us to go astray. Mankind had gone astray and God sent his son, Jesus, to find us. ISLAND MESSENGER 104

Susan S. Mathew Rangat The holy Bible is full of God’s promises and reminders that he is faithful. From Genesis to Revelation we read of normal people that received the promises of God. These promises are sealed by the highest authority, God’s word. These promises definitely help us in whatever we are facing today. We can take encouragement from the truth that s God is with us. Knowing the promises of God can help us in our daily lives, to be able to navigate both big and small decisions, and to conquer fear, temptation, and danger. Nehemiah was able to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem in 445BC because he knew the promises of God and was able to confidently claim those promises as his own. When we know what God has promised us, we can confidently claim those things in our own lives. When we start digging into the promises of God, we find that he promises us many things: 1. Bible promises about God’s goodness When things get tough we can read and meditate on these Bible promises about two bodies and the conflict arises from our own situation to the God who is obediently infinitely good. a. Psalms- 145 :9 - The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. b. Psalms- 100 :5 - For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. c. Psalms- 84 :11 - For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. d. Nahum – 1:7 - The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him, e. Psalms- 34 :8 - Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. 2. God’s promises about being with us God is with us in our individual situations. As he was faithful to Noah, he will be faithful to us God’s faithfulness with a friend who needs encouragement. a. Joshua 1:9 - Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” b. Philippians 4:6 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. c. Deuteronomy 31:8 - The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” d. Isaiah 40:31 - but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. e. Isaiah 43:2 - When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. 3. God’s promises about provision God’s promises to provide our needs in land, shelter, food, comfort or hope. a. Matthew 6:31-32 - So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or 'What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. b. Psalm 34:10 - The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. c. Romans 8:31 - What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? d. 2 Corinthians 9:9 - “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.” e. Matthew 7:11 - If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 4. God’s promises about answering prayers Because God has promised to answer our prayers, when we go to him to pray, we need to remember that we are not going to convince him to change his mind and answer our prayers. a. John 14:13 - And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. b. Luke 14:9-10 - If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you ‘Give this person your seat.’ Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests. c. Jeremiah 29:12 - Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. d. Matthew 21:22 - If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. ISLAND MESSENGER 128
e. Psalm 145:18-19 - The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. 5. God’s promises about salvation Salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ is the main topic in the New Testament of the Bible. The gospel is the good news of our reconciliation from the death of sin to eternal life in Christ. a. John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. b. 1 John 1:7 - But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. c. Romans 10:9 - If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. d. 2 Chronicles 7:14 - If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. e. Luke 2:30-32 - For mine eyes have seen Thy Salvation, Which Thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A Light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. 6. God’s promises when we are sick Illnesses can spark fears, worries and suffering, with individuals and families often emotionally crumbling under the pressures that sickness can bring. Fortunately, there are Bible verses about strength that can help people navigate the uncertainty of various health conditions. a. James 5:15 - And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. b. Psalm 103:3 - Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, c. Psalm 41:3 - The LORD sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness. d. Psalm 107:20 - He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. e. Jeremiah 33:6 - Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security. In Hebrews 6:13 it says, \"For when God made a promise to Abraham since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself.\" When God makes a promise to his people, it will come to pass. What is a promise? A promise is a covenant or declaration that one will do exactly what they say or something will happen just as pledged. God's Are Very Precious ISLAND MESSENGER 129
