I began my Internship in March 2020. I have put all my trust in the Lord and It was a time to put our knowledge and skills submitted myself to his plans for me. If I am into practice. Again I started by giving thanks where I am today, I know there is a reason; I to the Lord as he had brought me this far know there is a purpose, a purpose which and considered me worthy for everything. 2 God has carefully tailored for me. All that he months into internship, and our islands had requires from us is to trust his ways, and he to face the effect of Coronavirus pandemic. will take care of the rest. Again, a sense of self-doubt and fear crept in me. For a moment, I even questioned my Nothing is impossible with God. He own purpose and my decision to become a makes things happen in this world. GOOD IMPACT OF IN THE WORLD BINCY KOSHY Rangat In the midst of the fear, worry, and uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, each day seems to bring news that’s worse than the day before. As of 1 August 2020, more than 17.5 million cases of COVID19 have been reported in more than 188 countries and territories, resulting in more than 679,000 deaths; more than 10.3 million people have recov- ered. The cause for our concerns are justified. But, as in most major disasters, tragedies, and public health threats, there are reasons for hope, and even optimism. It is hard to see good in this situation, when we can see the whole world is in a great chaos. But they are there some: 1. Build Genuine Relationships We all have been so busy living the ‘Life,’ many of us have lost those real, genuine moments we have with our loved ones. Maybe some of us are lucky enough to go for family vacations every now & then. But even then, we spoil our good moments thinking about those pending files waiting at our workstation. Now, the COVID-19 situation has positively impacted the way you build and maintain relationships. You get to spend your time with your family and plan your work better. This actually helps you build a better future for both your work and family. 2. Life style changes to practice better hygiene “Being hygienic is no longer just a good habit, but it’s now a prime skill you need for survival.” Times have changed, and people are now aware of how important it is to keep yourself clean. From shaking hands to “Namaste”, we all are now back to our cultural practices.Lifestyle changes are for the good. We’re going to remember to cover our mouths when we cough, to sanitize our hands after touching anything else for our lifetime and we will teach this as a basic manners to our coming generation, because we know what can happen if we don’t. 3. Innovations to help us stay connected. While social distancing is the need of the hour and every responsible citizen should practice it during this time of crisis. The world welcomes ideas, hacks, tips, & tricks to beat the lockdowns & help our communities. This has opened a new way of thought. Organizations cannot just stop functioning altogether, and each is coming up with the ultimate ideas to attract & sustain both their customers & employees. “Innovation happens for nothing, but when the environment demands it happens” And let’s wait for the coolest ideas that can transform the world to the new normal. 4. Remote Working is mainstream now. The quarantines have made all businesses go 100% remote. This has also helped the ISLAND MESSENGER 54

teams to trust each other. Companies are getting into the culture where they trust the integrity of their employees & that they will loyally work even when there’s no one to look over their shoulders every now and then. The investments made for larger spaces are going to decline and companies are actually going to not let geographical locations stand in between while hiring new talents and also providing equal opportunity to everyone without any discriminations. 5. Education becomes digitalized and affordable. The pandemic had posed a threat to the whole education system. Schools, universities, and colleges have been shut down, but have you looked at the brighter side yet? Classes have begun again, thanks to technology. The students needn’t bear the brunt of the costs, making it more affordable. Moreover, parents will get first-hand knowledge about how classes are taught and can directly understand how their child perceives concepts. As the online education system grows, we can expect an increase in the reach and accessibility of education within every section of the society. 6. The Environment is Cleaner and Beautiful. Almost everyone has noticed the bluer skies, cleaner air, brighter moon and stars and louder birdsongs, and we have seen images of cleaner rivers and forgotten views of the mountains. While fears of pollution returning are certain to come true once the restrictions ease, some benefits will stay on. 7. The disasters will be better understood and government will be prepared. COVID-19 has perhaps made each person on earth sit up and take notice of how fragile our lives and lifestyles are on one hand, and how unpredictable and powerful natural hazards are. This is certain to lead to more reflection, research, better preparedness, sensitive decision making and forthcoming public support for disaster risk reduction in the months and years to come. There will be a standard operating procedure for all kids of disaster. There are many questions which are not answered yet, but we should have HOPE for the brighter future which will keep us going. Each coin has two faces, “With Bad Comes The Good”, I would like to see the Good to overcome the Bad. So, let’s look forward and focus on the brighter side for all we have through these difficult times. ISLAND MESSENGER 55

BR KEN HEART  JILU SUNIL Kadamtala Once upon a time there lived a father, mother and a baby boy. The father passed away when the boy was younger and the mother taught the boy to be kind and loving. When he grew up he married a beautiful lady. At first she asked him to leave his house and went to stay in another house. He was sad about leaving his mother alone. But he left his house and went to stay in another house with his wife. One day, his wife asked him to get her his mother’s heart. He knew that it was wrong, but he loved her so much that he agreed to give her his mother’s heart. He went to his mother’s house. He asked for a glass of water. When she turned around, the son stabbed her to death and removed the heart from her body. As he was running back, he tripped on a stone and fell down. Then the heart started to talk. It said to him,’You cruel son, I loved you so much but you listened to the cruel words of your wife and killed your mother.’After sometime it stopped talking and the son realized his mistake. He knew how much his mother loved and cared for him and the sufferings she had endured to bring him up. He wepted bitterly at what he had done. Parents are God’s gift to us. We should always love and respect them. When they grow old and weak, it’s our duty to take care of them. The Bible says in Ephesians 6:1-3;” Obey your parents in all things. For this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honour thy father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise ; that it may be well with you, and you may live long in the earth.” ISLAND MESSENGER 70

Br. Alexander In the feet of Rangat Christ  Great joy is there when we are in the feet of Christ. We can feel safety, why because He is our protector. Indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. (Psalm: 121:4.)  We can realise that we are cured, why because His presence filled us and with His stripes we are healed. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.( Isaiah: 53:5)  We can understand that our needs were fulfilled, why because He is our provider. But you would be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you. (Psalm: 81:16.)  We can realise the freedom of joy, why because He is our redeemer. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. (Psalm: 34:7) ISLAND MESSENGER 95

You know, Mary has chosen good part, which will not be taken away from her life by sitting in the feet of Christ. Like that if we practice in our life, really we will be blessed. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked,“Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her. ( Luke: 10:39-42) Jesus was happy to witness Mary, why because she practiced to sit in the feet of Christ to hear the word of God. When we are in the feet of Christ, we can feel the presence of God. Presence of God makes us to feel the heavenly joy in this world. And His presence gives all kinds of blessings and joy of life. When we are in the feet of Christ, we can feel and enjoy the heavenly presence in this world itself.  How these blessings will be added to me and how I will be always remembered to get strength of life in spirit and soul. There is only one way to get all these blessings, that way is to sit in the feet of Christ. But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah: 40:31)  We must understand that we are worshipping the great mighty God, He is living God who send His only begotten Son to this world to save us from Sin. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John: 3:16)  The Lord our God who sacrificed His life on the cross by crucifixion is asking: To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. Why do you complain, Jacob? Why do you say, Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God”? Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is theeverlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah: 40:25-31)  We must understand the power of God, How he is. He asks us: Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance? Who can fathom the Spirit of the LORD, or instruct the LORD as his counselor? He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. (Isaiah: 40:12,13&22) ISLAND MESSENGER 96

Just you on reading Isaiah chapter 40 again and again you can understand the how our God loved us and how great he is and what kind blessings he wants to give us. Only thing is that we must learn to sit in the feet of Christ. When you learned and practiced to stay at the feet of Christ then you are blessed to get all kinds of blessings from heaven.  Your Father God will be pleased to bless you all abundantly. Why because He likes the people who walks according to the Word of God. Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers! Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash. (Matthew: 7:21-27) So, we the people of this world should understand to do the will of God. We should not go according to the World.  Why because, we are living in this world but we do not belong to world, we all belong to heaven and we are all separated from this world for His Glory. The people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise. (Isaiah: 43:21) You have been called to praise Him, worship Him, adore Him and glorify Him with full heart, soul, strength and mind.  But today most of the youngsters’ even elders are far away from the word of God. They never care about the eternal life. They have forgotten the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. But one day they have to stand before Creator. You who are young, be happy while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment. So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless. You who are young, be happy while you areyoung, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment. So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless.(Ecclesiastes: 11:9,10)  So, my loving young son and daughter of Jesus Christ learned to live like Joshua, Joseph, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, Daniel and Paul. And like Apostles and missionaries.Today God wants you to be like them. Are you ready to give your life for Jesus Christ like them? He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. (Luke: 10:2) Submit your self and pray, Lord use me as your instrument to do your Ministries and teach me to sit in your feet to get your strength and anointing of Holy spirit and gifts to preach the word of God. Praise the Lord. ISLAND MESSENGER 97
