SAREGAMA 2017When it comes to showcasing performances by talented children, Austinites have to lookno further than SaReGAMA, an annual talent show presented by the Greater AustinMalayalee Association (GAMA).SaReGAMA is organized in two parts for children from 5 to 18 years of age. The first partis a Visual/Literary event where children showcase their skills in pencil sketching,painting, essay writing and poetry. The second part is a Performing Arts/Stage event,which includes classical as well as non-classical music and dance performances.

SAREGAMA2017 KAMALVIJAYAKUMAROn April 8, hundreds of talented childrenand their parents attended GAMA's 11thannual talent show SaReGAMA 2017 atLago Vista Performing Arts Center.SaReGAMA 2017 was inaugurated by the4th president of GAMA, Mr. Renil Chandy.The current GAMA president, Mr. ShankarChandramohan welcomed the audience,and the event was kicked off at 11:00 am.The day consisted of a variety of musicaland dance performances by children ofvarious age groups ranging from 5 to 18years. The children competed in eventssuch as Instrumental Music, Classical andNon-classical Vocal, Eastern Classical Danceand Bollywood Dance. The performanceswere evaluated by experienced judges whoare experts in their respective areas.Off stage, participants and audience weretreated to a mouth watering array ofauthentic South Indian food including avariety of dosas by Madras Pavilion.SaReGAMA 2017 concluded with a vote ofthanks message by Lisa Thomas, Secretary.Sivaprasad Valappil (Vice President), andBipin Ravi (Treasurer) distributed the prizesfor the winners of the stage competitionsconducted that day, as well as for the visualand literary arts competitions conductedon February 25.
