Off-The-Job Training (England only) Off-the-job training is defined as “learning which is undertaken outside of the normal day-to-day working environment and leads towards the achievement of an apprenticeship.” This can include training that is delivered at the apprentice’s normal place of work but must not be delivered as part of the normal working duties.Your Learning Coach will use the tasks below to provide guidance on how to use the off-the-job training hours effectively and how to log this on the online Employer Portal. ON-THE-JOB TRAINING On-the-job training is deemed as on-shift and in real-life service. This could include: Shadowing colleagues, attending workshops and webinars Being shown how to make a coffee for a customer who is waiting Being shown how to use a till whilst on shift and a customer is waiting Being taught skills in the kitchen for a meal that will be served to a customer OFF-THE-JOB TRAINING DOES NOT INCLUDE: English and maths (up to level 2) Progress reviews or on-programme assessment needed for an apprenticeship T raining which takes place outside the apprentice’s normal working hours (this cannot count towards the 20% off-the-job training) Aptem View video View guide Aptem gives you a live view of your learners from pre-enrolment through to achievement. BOH Members’ Team Kitchen team members and chefs are integral to our business in ensuring our food is delivered on time and is cooked to our exacting brand standards. This apprenticeship will teach you the principles of working in the kitchen and preparing and cooking food to your brand standards. OUTCOME WHO IS THIS FOR: AVAILABLE IN:  Kitchen team members (E) England This Level 2 apprenticeship takes  (S) Scotland 12-15 months to complete, and  (W) Wales if you want to progress will help you in your ambition to become a head chef or kitchen manager. PRODUCTION CHEF E S W Available across all brands this foundation course will teach you the basic principles of preparation and cooking to specific brand standards, with most of the food coming into site pre-prepared in some format.You’ll also learn how to set up and close the kitchen. TeaFmOHMembers’ Front of House team members are often the first people that our customers will see, so it’s hugely important that the welcome and service thereafter is on the money. The apprenticeships that are on offer to you will teach you the principles of excellent customer service, linked to your specific brand, and will give you the skills to solve issues and problems. There are a number of different jobs at this level and you’ll be able to choose an apprenticeship that matches your role. FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICE E S W If you serve a range of food and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages then this is the apprenticeship for you. If you’re in Scotland or Wales you can choose either Food, Beverage or both. In England you’ll cover both. On completion there’s the option to go onto the Level 3 Housekeeping or a more generic supervisory apprenticeship if you’d like to continue to progress. As part of the entry requirements of this apprenticeship you must have completed the team leader induction. OUTCOME WHO IS THIS FOR: AVAILABLE IN:  FOH team leaders (E) England This Level 3 apprenticeship will take  (S) Scotland 12 months to complete, and if you  (W) Wales want to progress will help develop the skills and experience you need to become an assistant manager.
