Dear Friends of Marquardt Village, I’m happy to say construction of Marquardt Village’s new Park Terrace for assisted living and memory care and Towne Centre for resident life has managed to stay on track in spite of heavy spring rains this year. Foundation work is nearly done, walls will be going up soon, and ongoing progress will surely be exciting to watch. With Marquardt Village’s solid financial standing and the support of our board of directors’vision, our organization was able to offer management support for The Atrium and Bay Pointe communities in Racine when Lincoln Lutheran of Racine filed for voluntary receivership earlier this year. A management agreement was signed in mid April. Not only are we helping out a sister community and its residents, but managing both locations is allowing Marquardt to leverage our staff’s exceptional experience and to realize efficiencies that are having a positive impact across the board. In other news, Marquardt at Home is expanding its service area for home health and hospice care. Kenosha, Milwaukee and Racine counties join the current eight county service area of Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Jefferson, Rock, Walworth, Washington, and Waukesha. Marquardt at Home is also providing home health services at Capitol Lakes, a Madison retirement community, through a partnership that began in February. In this issue, we invite you to “hear” from our generous donors. You can also read about how our staff’s and volunteers’ focus on customer service inspires the new welcome desk at Marquardt Health Center and extends a warm welcome to new independent living residents. And learn how implementing an Electronic Health Records (EHR) system is enhancing care and quality of life. Spring Banquets Recognized Generous Donors and Board Members There was a great turnout this spring at the annual banquet for donors, as well as at the inaugural banquet for current and past members of the Marquardt Village board of directors. Each year Marquardt hosts a dinner to recognize donors who give $500 or more and those who designate a planned gift to Marquardt Foundation. “This festive event is a tribute to the generosity of our donors,” said chief development officer, Cheryl Porior-Mayhew. “And we are so grateful that many of our benefactors were able to attend and enjoy the evening. Thank you all so much. And thank you to this year’s sponsors: Alliance Rehab, Eppstein Uhen Architects, and Altius Building Company.” New this year, and now planned as an annual event, was Banquets were held at Windwood of Watertown on May 12th and June 4th. the banquet for current and former board members. “We owe the success of Marquardt Village to the generous leaders who have voluntarily given their time and talents to the governance of our organization over the years,” said chief executive officer, Matt Mauthe. “The banquet presented a special opportunity to bring them all together, share plans for the future, and express our gratitude for their vision and their support.” Marquardt Village Welcomes Jenny Hoerth, Health Information Manager After an early career in customer service helping students with loans, Jenny Hoerth returned to school herself with a goal to “help people in the medical field.” She gained experience in medical records working for nursing and rehabilitation centers in Madison before joining Marquardt Village in early April to supervise a staff of four technicians that maintain health information records, Medicare and private insurance, state and federal regulations, and more. “Marquardt Village is fascinating to me, the way the community serves so many people at different life stages,” Jenny says. “The opportunities to talk to residents and family members every day and to use my skills and experience to make a difference in people’s lives are exciting.” Born and raised in Oconomowoc, Jenny has two children and twin five-year-old grandsons she describes as the light of her life. She enjoys hunting, fishing, and just about any other outdoor activity.
