FALL/WINTER 2019 2019 ANNUAL REPORT KEEPING THE FAITH Our new gathering space takes shape with the help of donations page 9 A Mission of the Western District of the Moravian Church

LETTER FROM THE CEO Dear Friends of Marquardt Village, As our 50th anniversary year comes to a close, I like to imagine how proud our founders — Milo Loppnow, Rev. Thorlief Harberg, Karl Fischer, Dr. Milton Ochs and others — would be of Marquardt Village today. From an open field, they created a place of caring and support. My, how we’ve grown over the years! We’re very excited that our new Auditorium and Park Centre Apartments are nearing completion. Soon, we’ll have a big, beautiful venue to gather together for presentations, musical performances, worship services and special occasions (page 9). With Park Centre, all of our main apartment buildings will now be physically connected to Towne Centre (page 8). You can read more about the architects and their design influences on pages 6 and 7. We’re blessed to have had another very good financial year (pages 3 and 4), and incredibly grateful to be in a strong position to continue our mission for another 50 years. Your generosity has allowed us to help hospice families and serve all seniors, including those with low incomes — something we’re very proud of. By supporting our annual Sporting Clay Shoot Out (page 12) and other fundraising efforts, you help bridge the gap between the actual cost of care and the $7.4 million in uncompensated costs that we incur each year. It’s amazing what we’ve been able to accomplish over the last 50 years. We’re not done yet. We continue to think about the future and plan for more programs and services. Thank you for being a part of our community for all these years. As you gather with family and friends this holiday season, we wish you and yours much health, happiness and good cheer. Blessings, Matthew Mauthe, CEO THE MARQUARDT VILLAGE MISSION: “Grounded in faith, we promote the health and well-being of each individual we serve.” 2019 Operating Annual Report .............................................................................. 3 50th Anniversary Celebration........................................................................ 10, 11 Marquardt Foundation Annual Report ............................................................. 4 Where were you in 1969? ........................................................................................11 100 Women Who Care ............................................................................................... 5 Sporting Clay Shoot Out .........................................................................................12 Meet the Architects ................................................................................................. 6, 7 Last Wishes — Brewers Game & Golf ................................................................13 Park Centre Apartments Update ........................................................................... 8 Donor Appreciation ........................................................................................... 14, 15 Wish List ..............................................................................................................................8 AmazonSmile .............................................................................................................. 16 Auditorium Update ...................................................................................................... 9 2
