ABOUT THE DSA The Drilling and Sawing Association represents UK diamond drilling and sawing companies and professionals of the concrete drilling and sawing industry. We are the only organisation that support companies involved in the drilling and sawing industry, committed to improving standards and establishing better codes of safe working practice, education and training. The DSA are devoted to our members in showcasing and creating a positive role within the Specialist Contractor sector of the construction industry. Committed to improving standards within the industry by establishing better codes of safe working practice, education and training Key Achievements Working hard over many years DSA was the first “Specialist Contractor Association” to develop and implement our own apprenticeship scheme in association with CITB, with Competency cards being issued well before CSCS cards and NVQ’s. DSA has been pushing hard to change the mind-set of the Construction industry over many years to give Drilling and Sawing the recognition it deserves as a highly skilled trade. DSA members benefit from approved operator training courses and the adoption of national safety standards and working codes of practices, as well as affiliation with other recognised construction industry international and national associations. The DSA also provides a forum for members to meet within an organised framework to discuss and share best practice and the future development of the industry as a whole. Our Mission Our mission is to promote the work of professional drilling and sawing contractors by highlighting the main advantages of cutting concrete with diamond tools, which include precision cutting within the shortest time scale, reduced noise, dust and debris and maintenance of structural integrity. Funding & ATO What is an ATO? An ATO is an CITB Approved Training Organisation, this means that an approved organisation, provides construction training and qualifications following the industry agreed training standards. What are training standards? Training standards increase the standardisation and transferability of training in the UK construction industry. This helps target funding and employers to reduce wasted time and money on duplicated or unnecessary training. Providing insurance that employees and workers get quality training as well as transferable qualifications between employers. The DSA have created many of the available diamond drilling and sawing training standards alongside the CITB (Construction Training Industry Board). Grants As an ATO we can apply for grants for eligible companies to receive a grant value of up to £120. A trained member of our team will apply for the grant on behalf of the organisation to recieve a grant the employer must have a CITB Levy number. Once the learner has completed their training we will automatically submit the learners achievement, triggering the construction training board to process the grant application, then the employer will receive the grant directly. Grant Value Tier 1 Tier 2 Tier 3 £30 £70 £120 For more information about courses available for a grant and grant worth please contact us, as course grants are frequently updated, to ensure you receive the most up to date information Page| 7
