In San Lucas, the Mission was able to serve a record number of community members in all program areas. We even hosted the first combined Friends of San Lucas and Mission retreat to align our visions for the future. 2018 was an exciting year for the Friends of San Lucas and the Mission and we can’t wait to continue and expand Fr. Through this wide-spread support, we were able to continue to support the community of San Lucas Tol- imán and the sur- rounding areas.

A Message from Bill Peterson Dear Supporters of Friends of San Lucas and the Mission, You will find a lot of information and impressive numbers in this report. But what is not reflected in those numbers is the huge impact the Mission has on our employees and their families. We are blessed with some of the most committed, talented and faithful leadership we could hope to find. They are constantly explor- ing new, more efficient ways to run their programs with many of them spending their Saturdays earning advanced degrees. All the teachers are engaged in professional development, as well as Dr. Tun and the medical staff. In addition, visiting medical groups provide continuing education for the Health Promoters, who also have their own system of continuing education. I tell you all this because we often focus on the direct service the Mission provides. It is what visitors are most often engaged in, and it is the most obvious effect of our work. But there is another impact that the Mission has, and that is on the lives of everyone who is engaged in delivering those services. We employ just over 100 people, pay them at least minimum wage, and pay them dependably. Within our programs your financial support is leveraged to have a positive impact on over 1000 people. This is in addition to the 20,000+ who receive services. By all measures, 2018 was one of the best years for the Mission and 2019 is off to an even stronger start. Thank you for your faithfulness of support as we continue to live into the dream that Fr. Greg left us to fulfill.
