02 Bhavan’s Kinder Mart Bhavan s Kinder Mart, a new concept to explore the value of sensible shopping and effective use of money, was conducted on the rd of October . The students of Kindergarten brought food items such as vegetables and fruits which were displayed attractively, in self help, super market style. This time a variety of food and stationery items were displayed. The concept of eating healthy food was emphasized while displaying junk food with great offers. A trolley was made available for enthusiastic shoppers. The cashiers collected cash from their eager custom- ers. Students even donated vegetables to the helpers as a reward for their help. Thus the habit of charity is learnt at a very young stage. The family of three or four children made sure they did justice to the shopping trip They were absolutely thrilled to have their voices and opinions final- ly heard in the whole shopping experience. 03 Character Week The Character week was celebrated from th October to rd October . Trustworthiness, Respect, Care and Fairness were the values incorporated during this week. To practically understand these values students were guided to present different activities through which they could experience the depth and significance of these values. Students depicted the value of trustworthiness by painting the portrait of their loved ones on a canvas. The value of respect was imbibed by the students through acts of kindness towards the elderly in their families and society. By caring for the environment the students learnt the value of care. Students gifted saplings to the school garden. By gifting a story book to the class library, the children learnt about fairness. They were also shown stories based on these values for better understanding. All the Kindergar- ten students enjoyed the character week even as they imbibed these core character building values which in turn strengthens their character. Ms. Yogita Karmarkar 03

Efficient fine motor skills require a number of independent skills to work together to appropriately manipulate the object or perform the task. What skills do fine motor skills include Academics skills including - Pencil skills scribbling, coloring, drawing, writing - Scissors skills cutting Play - Construction skills using lego, duplo, puzzles, train tracks - Doll dressing and manipulation Self-care including - dressing tying shoelaces, doling up sandals, zips, buttons, belts - eating using cutlery, opening lunch boxes and food bags - Hygiene cleaning teeth, brushing hair, toileting. Why are fine motor skills important Fine motor skills are essential for performing everyday skills as outlined above as well academic skills. Without the ability to complete these everyday tasks, a child s self-esteem can suffer, their academic performance is compromised and their play options are very limited. They are also unable to develop appropriate independence in life skills such as getting dressed and feeding themselves which in turn has social implications not only within the family but also within peer relationships.
