MESSAGE FROM TANYA HALL Chapter Chair Dear Global One, I write this note with a tinge of sadness, as it will be my last letter to G1 as Chapter Chair. The last two years have been a rollercoaster of ups and downs for all of us, and I'm eternally grateful to the G1 Board and ExCo for helping me to navigate the many decisions that had to be made along the way. Now, I hand the reins of chapter chair over to our incoming chair, Jeremy Jenniges. Jeremy has deep experience in leadership within Global One and is already working on his planning for the upcoming YPO fiscal year. Our chapter is now over 400 members strong, reaching all corners of the globe. We have tackled and achieved grand goals ranging from the macro to the micro. We have redefined what it means to be a “chapter” in YPO; we helped guide other chapters to virtual forums during the pandemic as the pioneers of that approach; we've built a unique global community that can lean on each other for needs and leads; and we can move nimbly to serve clusters of members in need, such as sourcing oxygen canisters for all G1 India members during the peak of COVID. Jeremy and the incoming board and exco will continue progressing on our strategic initiatives, all of which underscore our chapter values: • ·We are adventurous global citizens who value diverse viewpoints and cultural curiosity. • ·We are pioneers within YPO, not content with the status quo and always looking to innovate and progress. • ·We are dynamic and uniquely personal, providing a flexible and adaptable YPO experience. • ·Community and connectivity are at the heart of creating value for our members. KEY UPDATES fyoorur MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL Thank you for being part of YPO's global community of extraordinary leaders. We look forward to another year of exploring, inspiring and leading together. Here's what to expect during this year's renewals period: • Membership renewals will run from mid-May to 30 June 2022. • YPO global dues are no longer frozen. • Self- and third-party certifications are reinstated for members required to certify. • Members can apply for grace if they do not meet membership requirements, based on eligibility. • Quarterly installment payments are available, giving members flexibility in paying global dues. • Lifetime membership dues rates are no longer frozen and were updated for this renewal cycle. • Members will be asked to accept the new YPO Community Standards, which replaces the existing YPO Code of Conduct. We Are Here to Support You If you would like to discuss your membership renewal or need additional information, your chapter manager and regional specialist are prepared to help. NEWS UPDATES FROM GLOBAL ONE Global One Family War on Ukraine has not been easy to watch but when it’s family it makes it real for you. My younger brother in law went to study in Moscow when he was 18. He got married and settled in Moscow and eventually expand his business to Ukraine. The kids moved to London but he stayed back in Ukraine for his work. He generally travels between Kyiv, London and Delhi, India. When the war started I called to find out where he was. I finally found out that he was still in Kyiv in his high rise apartment building. People in Ukraine including him were in denial. He kept insisting that there will be no war till he couldn’t sleep to the violent noises of the bombing. The family made a WhatsApp group with his daughter, brothers and me. Everyone was panicked and no one could figure out what to do. He did have food and water in the apartment but it was looking very disheartening as none of us could come up with any solution. There was curfew in town majority of the time, his car had half tank of gas, he couldn’t possibly get out of town. I joined the WhatsApp group and saw Wiktor managing and actively trying to help. I knew Wiktor and I reached out to him. I remember he was putting his son to bed, it was late at night there. Wiktor immediately connected me to Andrew. I do believe Wiktor and Andrew were god sent. Andrew was on phone for about four hours trying to navigate and find a solution. Andrew called me and said your brother will be picked up by the special forces in the morning, make sure he is ready. We didn’t sleep that night. My brother in law Pankaj was ready with his bag. 6am the special forces were there to pick him up. They had bullet proof vest for Pankaj and he was on his way. He shared videos and text messages throughout the way. He mentioned they passed over 50 check points. There was no way he could have gotten out without the help of the special forces. He is back home now with his kids. This would have not been possible without Andrew and Wiktor. This is the power of our YPO Global One family! As you all know, I was a loyalist but now this is really my family thick or thin. Asha Saxena 12
