Penang Street Art, and in particular George Town Street Art, has in the past few years enhanced itsposition as the street art capital of the country. Since the inscription of the inner city of George Town has a World Heritage Site, the street art scene has developed with increasing vigor. Sculpture at Work, the company involved in the creation of the steel-rod scultpures, was also involved in creating the fabulous dioramas depicting scenes of life in Penang as well as those commemorating Sun Yat Sen. In conjunction with the 2012 George Town Festival celebrations, London-trained Lithuanian artistErnest Zacharevic was commissioned to paint Mirror George Town, a collection of murals within the inner city that represent the lifestyle and rich history of Penang. The project has drawn much attention from the locals and is expected to enhance interest in the streets of George Town.
