TOYOTA -CIT Y OF SANTA ROSA -GAWAD K ALINGA VILL AGE In partnership with the City Government of Santa Rosa and GawadKalinga (GK) Development Foundation, TMP, through Toyota MotorPhilippines Foundation (TMPF) constructed the Toyota-City of SantaRosa-GK Village for deserving beneficiaries. The housing units in an8,000 sqm compound were officially turned over to 160 families inDecember 2013.
GT-TOYOTAASIAN CULTURAL CENTERAT U.P. DILIMAN TMP has had a special bond with the University of thePhilippines at Diliman, ever since it sponsored studies on urbantraffic, undertaken by the U.P. National Center for TransportationStudies in 2008, along with other partners. In December 2009, TMPinaugurated a 1-hectare facility — the GT-Toyota Asian CulturalCenter (GT-TACC), featuring a 500-seater auditorium, museum,library, and training rooms.
TOYOTACLASSICS The Toyota Classics has been promotingclassical music while supporting variouscharities across Asia. In the Philippines, thisconcert-for-a-cause has continued to supportlocal beneficiaries over the years. 153
ENVIRONMENTALINI T I AT I V E S TMP is well aware of the serious toll that automotive manufacturing operationscan have on the environment. Hence, TMP continuously finds ways to improve itsmethods and adopt environment-friendly processes and technologies as it commits tomanufacture “always better cars”. Moreover, TMP aligns its environmental efforts to the “Toyota EnvironmentalChallenge 2050” – setting the goal to a zero carbon footprint by such year. Whilethis seems to be a daunting task, TMP takes this challenge head-on, with projectsthat will not only improve operations, but also contribute to environmentalpreservation and enhancement.154
SOLAR FARM PROJECT With business sustainability as TMP’s goal,the company has now embarked on a wide scaleproject that will use renewable energy (Solar) toreduce carbon footprint.WASTE WATERTREATMENT PL ANT TMP ensures that all wastewater from productionprocesses are treated so that no harmful effluents willcome out that can damage the waterways outside. FRIENDLY WATER TANK PROJECT The Friendly Water Tank contains water from the Santa Rosa factory’s production lines, which has been treated. Toyota has sought to both reduce its consumption to the minimum, and re-use water whenever possible. Treated water collected is used for watering plants and trees inside TMP’s Santa Rosa facility. COASTAL CLEAN-UP TMP Team Members participate in the annual International Coastal Clean-up. 155

RE F O RE S TAT I O N Toyota implements many programs that support its advocacy onenvironment. Among these include the Philippine Penablanca SustainableReforestation Project in Tuguegarao, Cagayan where 2,500 hectares of landhave been reforested in 6 years. After the project concluded in 2013, TMPembarked on the Adopt-a-Forest project in U.P. Los Banos to reforest 10hectares inside Makiling Botanic Gardens, as well as create a 3-hectare PalmGarden. Members of Team Toyota do their share in greening the environmentthrough tree-planting activities. 157
TMP’s Car Carrier operations are in full swing even at night, preparing the delivery of quality vehicles that will bring delight to customers.
