Registration & Saturday Bike rackingRegistration will take place in a dedicated registration marquee on Saturday 10th September between 11:00 -15:00 on Hove Lawns within The Sport and Fitness Show.Please bring with you; Valid BTF licence If you do not hold a valid BTF license you will need to bring £6 in cash to purchase a British Triathlon day license this will cover you for race day insurance details here One form of photo ID e.g. driving licenseBikes are not allowed in the registration tent—please rackyour bikes on the racking provided in front of the registrationmarquee.On arrival you will enter the marquee and be asked to eithershow your BTF license or purchase a day license. You will thenfind your name (in alphabetic order) on a board to find out your race number. Head to the registration desk to therelevant race number section. One of our lovely helpers will give you your race pack which will include An individual race number . There will be safety pins on the desk. Three numbered labels. One for the front of your helmet, another for the side of your helmet, and the long one which wraps around the seat post of your bike . A coloured swim hat (the colour relates to the wave and start that you are in). Temporary tattoo numbers -these stick on your upper left arm. Easy to apply with some water. Numbered wristband-this will be secured onto your wrist by our handy helpers and must not be removed until post race. The wristband acts as a security measure to ensure the correct bike leaves with the correct owner. You will not be able to remove your bike from transition at the end of the race without wearing your wristband.After you have registered go to the timing desk within the registration tent and pick up your electronic timing chip.This should be worn around your left ankle and must be worn throughout all 3 disciplines and will need to be hand-ed in at the finish line. If you are a relay team you will be given one chip which is passed to each team member atchangeover. Only people with wrist bands are allowed into transition. No children, grand parents, loved ones etc.are allowed in!Please ensure that your numbered labels (in your race pack) are attached to your bike before entering transition.To rack your bike head to the transition area. The transition team will check your stickers on your bike helmet andbike. A small soft sided Race bag is allowed in transition, to keep all your belongings dry. You will not be able toleave transition with your equipment at any point unless the number on your wristband and your bike matches.Relay teamsThe team Captain must register for the whole team and collect the registration packs and wrist bands. The timingchip acts as a relay baton and must be passed between team members in transition at the point of racking, for thenext part of the race. The swim member of the relay team need to attend the race briefing at the beach start area,other team members are responsible for knowing the bike course and run course.

On the dayUpon arrival Sunday morning take your kit to the pedestrian walking inentrance of the transition area.You will have freedom to come and go into and out of transition Male imagesproviding you are wearing your wristband.Friends and family are not allowed into transition but can watch andsupport from the sides.Race briefing will occur 10 minutes before each wave start on the beach at the swim start.It’s advisable to bring cash to the event as there is no cash machines onsite.Drafting race, please see attached document for the latest BTF rules regarding drafting.Facilities on site—toilets, no showers on site however there are some showers located on the beachAfter the race you can collect your bike and belongings from the transition area. Upon exiting your wristband willbe cut and taken and you will not be allowed to re-enter the transition area. Please ensure you take all of yourbelongings.RulesNo mobile phones , personal stereos, MP3 players or iPods to be used in transition or during the event itself at anytime.It is forbidden to mark your position in transition.Your cycle helmet is to be on and fastened before your touch your bike and remain on and done up until your bikeis racked after the bike ride.It is forbidden to cycle in transitionDrafting is forbidden on the bike (unless racing in the Draft Legal Sprint). Drafting is cycling too closely behind an-other cyclist and gaining advantage. The drafting zone is 7m, so keep at least 7m behind the cyclist in front of your,unless you are overtaking over a 20 second period.The wearing of wetsuits in triathlon is governed by British Triathlon rules and is totally dependant on water temper-ature reading one hour before the event.Water Temperature Wetsuit RuleWater temperature less than 14 ° c Wetsuits are compulsoryWater temperature between 14 ° c Wetsuits are optional (i.e. you can choose whether to wearWater temperature above 22 ° c one or not, they are highly recommended especially if you are not a strong swimmer. FAQCan I bring spectators to the event?Yes, spectators are very welcome to the event. We have a free to attend family Sport and Fitness Show runningover the weekend for spectators. There are lots of free activities for adults and children including a climbingwall, fitness classes, ski slope and many more! So tell your family and friends to bring their sports kit.Are there toilets available for competitors?Yes, there are plenty of toilets within the show and dedicated toilets for the triathletes next to transition andregistration.Can I compete in the same wave as friends/family?Yes, you can enter into a mates wave by logging into your Results Base account at www.resultsbase.net andchanging your event options.Mates wave is only available for the Sprint and Olympic distances. The closing date for wave changes is Friday2nd September. As males and females will be racing together in the same mates wave there will be no prizeswinners.If I am injured can I just complete one or two of the disciplines rather than the whole race?Yes, we want you to take part but we would prefer to join up with a friend a form a relay team. Then you andyour friend can race together.Can I change distance once I have booked?Yes, if you make your booking and then decide to change your race distance, you can contact the office to ar-range this ([email protected]). Please note: if you drop down to a shorter distance, we can-not refund the difference, and if you upgrade to a longer distance the difference will need to be paid.Can I hire a bike or wetsuit?We highly recommend Cycle Brighton for bike hire, if you tell them you are taking part in the triathlon they willgive you a third off your hire! Visit their website here.You can hire a wetsuit from our partner Zone3, to view the full range click here.Can I bring my dog?Yes as long as they are well behaved and on a lead (don’t forget your poop bag)! They are not allowed in transi-tion even on the Saturday when you rack your bike.I can no longer compete; can I get a refund for my race?This close to the event we are unable to provide refunds in accordance with our T&C’s.How do I find out about the water temperature for race day?The water temperature will be taken 24hrs and 1 hrs prior to the race and will be put on our social media. It islikely to be around 16C / 17C.

Wewill also upload all timing the night of the race and email you a link to the official timing results the day after yourrace.PrizesSome small gift prizes will be awarded to various winning categories. These will be awarded on the finish line.ScootathlonThe Brighton and Hove Triathlon Scootathlon will be held on Saturday 10th September from 12 noon on Hove Prome-nade for 4 –8 year olds. All children should be registered by 11.35, check signage or ask one of our volunteers for thelocation of the registration tent. At registration children will pick up their race number and a t-shirt. Children shouldmeet at the triathlon finish line ready to run. 400 m run—400 m scoot—400 m runScoot entrants will need to bring their own scooter, helmet and a smile! Please have your child's name on a sticky la-bel attached to their scooter. All children will need to wear a helmet on the scooter, we recommend that they wearthe helmet for the duration of the race.Everyone who takes part and completes the distance will be given a medal. This is an event for children and is run forfun. Times are not taken and there are no winner prizes. All the children are winners.Entries can be taken on the day, children will need to be registered by 11.35. We have a limited number of t-shirtsand medals available so entry will be on a first come first serve basis.

There are many pay and display areas tothe North West of the Lawns – free unrestricted parking is ararity in Brighton and Hove and you would most likely have topark a mile to the West of the event to find free parking.
