Articles : Articles เป็นคำคุณศพั ทอ์ ยำ่ งหน่ึง Articles แปลวำ่ “คำนำหนำ้ นำม” หมำยควำมวำ่ คำ นำหนำ้ ทุกตวั ในภำษำองั กฤษเวลำพดู หรือเขียนตอ้ งใช้ Articles นำหนำ้ ท้งั น้นั (ยกเวน้ นำมบำงตวั หรือบำงกรณีไม่ตอ้ งใช้ Articles นำหนำ้ ) แบ่งออกเป็นสองชนิด ไดแ้ ก่ Indefinite Articles คือ a/an ใชน้ ำหนำ้ คำนำมที่ไม่เจำะจง และ Definite Articles ไดแ้ ก่ the ใชน้ ำหนำ้ คำนำมที่ตอ้ งกำรเจำะจง

A / An article ท้งั สองนีเ้ ป็ นทร่ี ู้จักกนั ในนาม ‘indefinite articles’ เพราะมนั ไม่ได้ระบุว่าอนั ไหนทคี่ ุณกาลงั พดู ถงึ เช่น ‘a table’ อาจจะเป็ นโต๊ะตวั ใดกไ็ ด้ หรือคุณอาจจะอยาก กนิ ‘an apple’ โดยไม่ได้ระบุว่าเป็ นลูกใด วธิ ีดูว่าต้องใช้ article ตัวใดกค็ ือ ถ้า noun ขนึ้ ต้นด้วยสระ(อกั ษร ‘a’ ‘e’ ‘i’ ‘o’ หรือ ‘u’) ให้ใช้ ‘an’ แต่ถ้าขนึ้ ต้นด้วย พยญั ชนะให้ใช้ ‘a’ ข้อยกเว้น มขี ้อยกเว้นบางประการสาหรับกฎของการใช้ ‘a’ หน้าพยญั ชนะและการใช้ ‘an’ หน้าสระ โดย ถ้า noun ขนึ้ ต้นด้วย ‘u’ ทอี่ อกเสียงเหมือนคาว่า ‘you’ กรณนี ีใ้ ห้ใช้ ‘a.’ เช่น ‘‘I went to a university” แต่ถ้า noun ขนึ้ ต้นด้วย ‘h’ ทไี่ ม่มกี ารออกเสียง กรณนี ีใ้ ห้ ใช้ ‘an.’ เช่น ‘‘we have an hour before the movie starts”

The ‘the’ เป็ น ‘definite article’ เม่ือคุณ ใช้ article นีน้ ่ันกห็ มายความว่าคุณกาลงั พูดถึงสิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่ง โดยเฉพาะ เช่น ถ้า ‘‘I bought the table” น่ัน หมายถงึ ฉันกาลงั พดู ถงึ โต๊ะตวั ทฉี่ ันซื้อมาเท่าน้ัน

➢ Article ต่างๆ ใช้วางหน้า noun แต่สิ่งสาคญั กค็ ือการรู้ว่าเมื่อไรทต่ี ้องใช้และเมื่อไรทไ่ี ม่ต้องใช้ ➢ เราจะไม่ใช้ article สาหรับกรณีต่อไปนี้ • หน้าชื่อเฉพาะ เช่น Queen Elizabeth, Steve Jobs หรือ John Smith • ช่ือประเทศต่างๆ เช่น Italy, Brazil หรือ Saudi Arabia • กฬี าประเภทต่างๆ เช่น basketball, football หรือ soccer • ภาษาต่างๆ เช่น English, Spanish หรือ Portuguese • ชื่อวชิ าต่างๆ เช่น Mathematics, English หรือ Literature ➢ แต่เราจะใช้ article เสมอสาหรับกรณตี ่อไปนี้ • ช่ือแม่นา้ ทะเล มหาสมุทรต่างๆ เช่น the Atlantic Ocean, the Black Sea และ the Missouri River • ทะเลทราย อ่าว ป่ า และแหลมต่างๆ เช่น the Amazon, the Sahara Desert และ the Gulf of Mexico • อาชีพต่างๆ เช่น an engineer, a doctor หรือ a lawyer

คำนำมที่ไมต่ ้องใช้ article ❑ ไม่ใช้ article กบั คานามต่อไปนี้ 1. นามทกี่ ล่าวขนึ้ มาลอยๆ โดยไม่มีวลี ( phrase ) หรืออนุประโยค ( clause ) อื่นใดมำขยำยเพอื่ ใหเ้ ป็นกำรเฉพำะ ตำมหลงั พหูพจนห์ รือนำมนบั ไม่ได้ เช่น - Anger is a destructive emotion. ควำมโกรธเป็นอำรมณ์ทีทำใหเ้ กิดหำยนะ ( ไม่ใช่ the anger ) - Experience is the best teacher. ประสบกำรณ์เป็นครูท่ีดีที่สุด ( ไม่ใช่ the experience ) 2. วชิ า (subjects) เช่น mathematics, physics, biology ,history, computer science - My daughter is good at mathematics. ลูกสำวของฉนั เก่งคณิตศำสตร์ ***ข้อยกเว้น ถ้านาช่ือวชิ าไปใช้อย่างคุณศัพท์ประกอบหน้าคานามตวั อื่นต้องใช้ the เช่น - I think the physics subject is difficult.

3. กฬี า (sports) เกม (games) เช่น volleyball, hockey. football, tennis,swimming Let's play football. มำเล่นฟุตบอลกนั เถอะ 4. ภาษา (languages) ท้งั หมด และสัญชาติ (nationalities) ถำ้ นำมำใชเ้ ป็น adjective complement (คุณศพั ทท์ ี่เป็นส่วนขยำยใหใ้ จควำมของประโยคสมบรูณ์ข้ึน) ไม่ตอ้ งใช้ article นำหนำ้ เช่น - My friend is American. เพ่อื นของฉนั เป็นคนอเมริกำ ***แต่ถ้าหมายถงึ ประชาชนหรือคนในชาตจิ ะใส่ aYrotuicrleCoเชn่นtenttheHeTrheais หรือ noun ท่ีตำมหลงั กใ็ ส่ article เช่น He is studying the German Language. เขำเรียนภำษำเยอรมนั 5.มื้อของอาหาร ( meals ) เช่น breakfast, lunch , dYionunrerContent Here - Breakfast is the first meal of the day. อำหำรเชำ้ เป็นม้ือแรกของวนั

6. ยานพาหนะทุกชนิด ทใ่ี ช้ในการเดนิ ทางโดยวางหลงั preposition by เช่น by bus , by train , by bicycle , by taxi - I like to travel by train. ฉนั ชอบเดินทำงโดยรถไฟ 7. ศาสนา ความเช่ือ เช่น Buddhism, Christianity, Communism, Socialism - Buddhism is a religion to about 300 million people around the world. ศำสนำพทุ ธมีคนนบั ถือทวั่ โลกประมำณ 300 ลำ้ นคน 8. เทศกาล เช่น Christmas, Songkran Festival - He had been rushing home from a meeting in Washington to be with his family on Christmas. 9.ช่ือคน ตาแหน่งหรือยศไม่ต้องใส่ article เช่น - President Obama is coming to Thailand soon. *** แต่ถ้าเป็ นช่ือตาแหน่งหรือยศทไ่ี ม่มผี ้รู ับตาแหน่งหรือยศต่อท้ายให้ใส่ the เช่น - The abvot went outside the temple.

10.วนั เดือน ปี เช่น on Monday , on Friday, in January, in November และ next / last +period of time เช่น next week, next month , last year เช่น - Please come back again on Monday. - I’m going on vacation next week. - I was born in 1960. 11. คานามต่อไปนี้ ถ้าใช้ในความหมายของการทากจิ กรรมน้ันๆ ไม่ต้องมี the แต่ถ้าหมายถงึ สถานทข่ี องกจิ กรรมน้ันๆ ต้องมี the เช่น school, hospital, bed, church, prison, hospital, university - My daughter goes to school at 06:00 am every day. ลูกสำวฉนั ไปโรงเรียนต้งั แต่ 6 โมงเชำ้ ทุกวนั (ไปเพอ่ื เรียนหนงั สือ ) - I go to the school sometimes to meet her teachers. ฉนั ไปโรงเรียนของลูกบำงคร้ังเพื่อพบครูของลูก ( ไปท่ีตวั โรงเรียนซ่ึงลูกเรียนอยู่ )

12. ช่ือทวปี ประเทศ รัฐ เมือง โรงเรียน วทิ ยาลยั มหาวทิ ยาลยั ในกรณีที่เป็นคำๆเดียวไม่ตอ้ งใส่ article เช่น - Thailand is in Asia. - I live in Bangkok. - I graduated from Thammasat University. *** แต่ถ้าเป็ นประเทศทม่ี หี ลายๆมลรัฐมารวมกนั กต็ ้องใส่ the เช่น The United States. 13. ช่ือโรคต่างๆ ไม่ใส่ artcle ข้างหน้า เช่น - Cigarettes can cause cancer. 14. ชื่อถนน วงเวยี น สนามบนิ สถานีรถไฟ ชื่อร้านค้า ไม่ต้องใส่ article เช่น - My workplace is on Sukhumvit Road. - We will depart from Don Muang Airport. 15. ไม่ใช้ article นาหน้านามทมี่ ีจานวนเลขนับตามหลงั เช่น 21 23
