timeout Recently my life has seemed a little, umm, lacklustre if you will. No, not in that department (lacklustre wouldn’t cut it in that area!!), I mean in my kitchen. More specifically my pantry. (I have one, lucky me). It just lacked the va-va voom I’ve been looking for. While my expertise lies in a 4 layer, rustic, floral, celebration cake, when it comes to the main course I just throw, mix and serve. Healthy, but unexciting. I haven’t ever poisoned anyone but I’ve never received a 5* rating either. Previously, if you’d have put a jar of cumin or coriander under my nose or waved some chilli powder in front of me I would not have been impressed. Nowadays I can’t get enough of basil & parsley and my favourite spice is more golden than the sun. Being an arthritis sufferer I always look for anti-inflammatories. And oh my goodness have I found one in turmeric. When fresh, its not the most beautiful spice, but once ground down its colour is as beautiful and powerful as its health benefits. It is jam packed full of antioxidants, which is an arthritis sufferer’s best friend. I now use it in my soups, my new fave homemade veggie curry and I also enjoy the odd mug of turmeric tea. I have lots of shelf space in my kitchen, but not for long. I’m an organised type, although not a perfectionist, so my main decision this week will be whether or not to place my new selection of herbs & spices in alphabetical order! Beware future dinner guests!…….Lacklustre my life is now NOT!!! For now, Sarah 20 Hampton Gazette | July 2022 | E: [email protected] | www.hamptongazette.co.uk

legallybinding Are you muddled over maintenance? You may not think you are, but it is very likely that you haven’t fully appreciated the significance of an order for child maintenance payments included in a consent finance order within divorce proceedings. It is always desirable to have a finance order in place, which you can ask the Court to make after decree nisi in divorce proceedings, because it brings closure to the financial claims of the divorcing parties so you know there won’t be any nasty surprises in the future. But it is not uncommon for the recipient of child maintenance payments set out in a consent order, to get a nasty surprise when the payer, very often the husband, decides to reduce or stop the payments altogether. You may think that can’t happen, but in fact after 12 months from the date of the order, child maintenance is not enforceable in the usual course of events and the Child Maintenance Service takes over the enforcement of maintenance, in accordance with their own calculations. Either party can apply for a CMS assessment and once this is made, the terms of the court order are cancelled. So bear this in mind if you are presented with a consent order with agreed child maintenance included. It only has a short life span. Any questions, consult with your family law solicitor. 2222 HamHpatmonptGoanzGeattzee|tJtuely| M20a2y22|0E2:1in|fEo:@[email protected]| .wukw|ww.hwawm.hpatomnpgtaoznegttaez.ecott.eu.kco.uk

health&fitness ARE YOU READY TO MAKE A CHANGE? Hampton based Personal Trainer, Online Coach and Holistic Therapist, Rachel Morpeth has turned redundancy into a positive, and is now qualified as a Personal Trainer. Since childhood I have been enthusiastic about sports, I was the annoying teen in all the school sports teams that dragged my parents out to watch us whenever we had an event! Throughout the years, that passion never ebbed as I have been a member of various gyms from MMA and boxing gyms, to gyms with fitness classes, such as yoga, and resistance training. Like many others, I was made redundant as a result of the Covid Pandemic. I decided to turn this negative into a positive and follow my dream to qualifyas a Personal Trainer, and gain the Level 3 Personal Training Qualification. Using the money I got through redundancy, I enrolled in a course and qualified July 2021. This was no online course, I had a 5 hour written exam and an all day assessment in a gym before finding out if I qualified. I now offer one to one training sessions, or group training sessions (if you want to workout with a friend), or if you prefer, online training programmes, which can be carried out in the gym or at home. Health and fitness has always been a passion of mine and it is over 20 years ago that I qualified as a Level 3 Holistic Therapist. Treatments I offer are Swedish Massage (for ladies only), Indian Head Massage, Reflexology and Hopi Ear Candling with Facial Massage. I am an ehthusiastic fan of holistic therapies, I get such joy out of seeing a client relax after a treatment, indeed, I like to treat myself on the odd occasion as the benefits really do help the mind, body and soul! gazettepets Happy 1st Birthday Pampered Pooch! On June 21st 2021 Pampered Pooch opened its doors. “It’s the best decision I have ever made, it’s not a job but a lovely hobby that pays the bills,” says owner Pamela Game. “I always wanted to be a dog groomer and work with dogs, but as with most people, you get stuck in the rat race, but due to covid I got the chance and time to create my dream. So with the help of my husband Adam, and a lot of his contacts, Pampered Pooch became real.” Pampered Pooch doesn’t just do grooming but they sell natural treats - including huge pigs ears, bulls tracheas and chicken feet. It’s more like a spa for dogs, as they can receive banana facials, white tea tree foot soaks, de-shedding mud treatments to name a few. Dogs just love feeling clean and they often go to the large mirror that’s in the garden to look at themselves, it’s very funny to watch. During the last year, Pampered Pooch did a charity wash over Christmas, provided free nail cutting on certain days, attended various fetes and also helps a local rescue centre. So What’s Next? Well, there is a new online shop launching this month with all the natural treats and all items dogs need. An amazing security system has been installed thanks to Chris from Ace4cctv based in Hampton - so you can watch your dog being groomed. Call him for a FREE QUOTE on 01733 552048 to get a similar system in your own home. Another Charity wash to be organised around Christmas too (see advertisement below). If you would like to book your dog in for the full works or just a wash, dry and nail cut please call Pampered Pooch 07702096845 and see E PamperedPooch for all the latest offers. entertainment Do you know your Deinonychus from your Ankylosaurus? These are just two of the many dinosaur models that will be at Peterborough Cathedral from 18th July to 3rd September as part of the Natural History Museum’s touring exhibition, T.rex: The Killer Question. To help answer that killer question - was T.rex a ferocious hunter or a mere scavenger – visitors will be able to compare the mighty T.rex with other dinosaurs. The Ankylosaurs was a plant-eating herbivore rather than a meat-eater and the shape of its body is adapted to this. The Deinonychus was both plant-eating and carnivorous, so it looks a bit more like a T.rex. Many of the models in the exhibition are animatronic, so will be roaring and moving as you look around. There is also a full-size T.rex skeleton is on show. Entry to the exhibition is by timed ticket. The tickets are £6 for children, £8 for adults or £25 for a family (2 adults and up to 3 children or 1 adult and up to 4 children). They are on sale via www.peterborough-cathedral.org.uk/t.rex.
