OUR STORY

Exodus to the haven Some three decades ago, a longing for unconditional freedom and opportunity sent a couple on a quest. This calling saw them cross desert, ocean, and continent to start anew in a foreign land. With little money to their name but an abundance of determination, belief, and love, they begin building a new life in Amsterdam, the colourful and bustling European metropolis locals lovingly refer to as ‘Mokum’, the Yiddish word for ‘safe harbour.’ The newly transplanted couple choose service as their path, o ering hospitality to those seeking refuge and comfort in the sanctuary city of Amsterdam. This decision, prompted by fate or destiny, becomes a potent seed that starts immediately germinating in the soil of the Ramzy’s new homeland.  ff

A path is chosen They decide to open a restaurant even though neither has run or worked in one. Taking this leap of faith almost immediately reveals some hidden truths. An uncanny understanding of numbers and an instinctive skill for business see their restaurant ourish. And within years, they add more restaurants. As their activities grow, the Ramzy’s also build an unimpeachable reputation within their cultural and business communities. Whispers within Amsterdam’s hospitality circles start growing louder and more frequent of the family-operated enterprise with unwavering moral and ethical codes in business and life. With earned trust and a proven track record, the couple establish themselves as successful hospitality entrepreneurs within a decade of setting foot in the Netherlands. Now with two beautiful children by their side, the Ramzy family have made an undeniable mark in their adopted home of Amsterdam. lf

The cubs find their footing The Ramzy children are growing up around kitchens and dining tables of their parents’ restaurants. Soon, they are crisscrossing the corridors of a hotel as the family expands into another category of hospitality. The children take to service e ortlessly, getting a front-row education in the art and science of the hospitality business. Quickly, they get hungry for more responsibility and are old enough to be given it. With hospitality infused into their bloodstream from birth, the next generation is imagining novel ways to grow the family business, new directions to take it, and exciting pillars to add to make the House of Ramzy even stronger. ff

The lion awakens An exodus from Egypt in 1989 writes the new chapter of a family’s destiny, one that sees a young couple grow into a family of four in a new land. Their fortune is the bond they have as a family. But fortune also smiles another way at the Ramzy’s as their hospitality empire built on the foundations of Amsterdam grows onward and upward. Today, the legacy built by one generation passes to the next as the fully grown cubs start letting out the roar of the majestic, proud lion that their family enterprise, Ramzy Group, has become. With the freedom to dream and the ethic, experience, and resources to make their dreams come true, the new Ramzy generation is ready to ful l their role as contributors to a fortune, expanders of an empire, and builders of a legacy that will live forever.. if

Dawn breaks This is the story of the Ramzy family - Bahaa, Mary, and their children, Katrina and Ramez. Theirs is a tale of passion, determination, love, and change. Despite the incredible chapters of their history already recorded, the Ramzy story has much to be written still.
