And that's it.No trees felled. No chemicals, resins, gums, toxins, lacquers orstabilizers used.More than 80% of water used is diverted back into productionprocesses for reuse. From start to finish, the entire manufacturingcourse uses approximately 10% of energy used in recycling.Cleansing and SterilizationThese washed sheaths are pressed inadvanced hydraulic machines to form their designated molds.During this process they are heated to 180 C and heat sterilizationoccurs as a by-product (thereby increasing energy efficiency). Thepressed leaves are then checked by quality inspectors and sent foredging and UV sterilization. Those with deformities are removedand composted. This by product will eventually be used to fertilizethe same trees they were shed from..The tableware sanitation tunnel is placed at the end of theproduction process line just prior to packaging. At this point in theprocess, the tunnel provides final non-chemical, anti-microbialtreatment and protects the tableware from human error orother cross contamination events which may have occurred earlierduring the manufacture processThere are no changes in colour taste or organoleptic qualities. 5 Page 5
