EDITORS DESK MUSTARD SEED TO A GREAT TREE It was around 75 years back; the Little Flower Mission League or Cherupuspa Mission League (CML) was planted like a tiny mustard seed in the faith fertile soil of Kerala in India. CML was founded by the tremendous efforts and prayers of a lay person named Mr. P C Abraham Pallattukunnel (popularly known as Kunjettan), with only seven members forming a single unit. After 75 years, CML has now become an international organization producing thousands of great missionaries and leaders to the church and society. A growth from a small mustard seed to a giant tree! (Luke13:19). CML was established and actively functioning in some of the parishes in the Knanaya Catholic Region of Chicago diocese in United States since several years back. A regional team was formed in 2020 to promote the CML activities in all the parishes and missions in the Knanaya region and to coordinate the activities in the regional level. CML regional level activities were inaugurated on 17th October 2020. Since then, CML was established in all the parishes in Knanaya Region and is working effectively. Despite the pandemic situation, Knanaya Regional Committee was able to organize several programs in the activity year 2020 - 2021. Also, there were several programs organized by the Infant Ministry for the kids in grade 3 and below. Almost all the parishes were able to organize different activities for our children, in the midst of the pandemic. Mission Times is an initiative of the CML Knanaya Regional Committee to voice the CML news and activities in the regional and parish level and as a portal to express the creativity of the members. In this first edition, we are publishing the details of the CML activities organized in the regional and parish level in the last activity year. The activities of Infant Ministry are also included. Let’s contribute to the growth of Little Flower Mission League in United States and across the globe. May this tree grow more and bear fruits for generations to come! Cijoy Parappallil Editor & Regional General Organizer, CML 3

VICAR GENERAL'S MESSAGE BENEDICTORY MESSAGE Dear brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, I am very delighted to know that the Knanaya Catholic Regional team of Cherupushpa Mission League (CML) is bringing out a publication and documenting the activities they were able to accomplish in the year 2020 - 2021. Ever since its regional level inauguration in October 2020, the Mission League has achieved many milestones, even in the midst of Covid19 restrictions. Mother Teresa once said, “not all of us can do great things but we can do small things with great love”. Actually, this is what happens in every little action of the CML when they do it with great love. Even though CML was actively working in different parishes in the Knanaya Catholic Region for years, a regional level team was formed in the mid of 2020 to boost the CML activities in all parishes. It’s a pleasure to see that the regional team was able to organize different programs in regional level. The Little Saints Video Contest 2020, the Angels Meet inaugurated by Mar Jacob Angadiyath, online Christmas celebrations, St. Joseph Year inauguration by Mar Joseph Pandarasseril, online Lenten retreat, and San Jose essay contest are some of the remarkable programs. Also, the different units from the Knanaya Catholic Region organized different kinds of activities and programs such as World Mission Sunday, Rosary Challenge, All Saints Day celebrations, Christmas programs, cultural programs, charity events and so on. The various programs conducted last year by CML embodied the spirit of love, sacrifice, service, and suffering. The Infant ministry also had its grand inauguration on December 27, 2020. Different programs were organized in regional and parish levels. I am sure these efforts will help our little children to grow closer to Jesus. Even when we had to go through lots of restrictions due to the pandemic, we were able to organize great events and stayed safe under God’s protection. I appreciate the enthusiasm, dedication, and hard work of the CML regional and parish level teams. May the good Lord continue to bless you to do many things with great love. I greatly acknowledge the CML leadership and all who supported the various activities of this missionary organization. With Prayers and blessings, Fr. Thomas Mulavanal Vicar General & Director of Knanaya Catholic Region. 4

DIRECTOR SPEAKS THE JOURNEY HAS STARTED Dear Little Flower missionaries in the garden of Knanaya Region, By the great intercession of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, we have started our journey of Cherupushpa Mission League in the Knanaya Catholic Region of United States. CML, one of the biggest Catholic laity organizations, was started at Bharananganam, Kerala, India, under the leadership of Mr P C Abraham. CML aims to enhance the missionary spirit among the members as well as their personality development. CML was inaugurated by Mar Thomas Tharayil, the then Bishop of Kottayam Diocese, on 3rd October 1947. Now CML is entering into its Platinum Jubilee Year on 3rd October 2021. On this beautiful occasion, all our parishes have started Mission League activities to help our children in the missionary work of Jesus Christ. By assisting the faith formation in the members, CML offers opportunity to practice what is learned in religious education classes. Parents are the real promoters and motivators in this mission. The parents’ presence, support and good examples should be the boosting shot for the children to strengthen their spiritual life. With good guidance, our children will be able to do many things for Christ. As we turn the pages of the Mission Times, it’s evident that Knanaya region was able to do many activities in our parishes and missions within a short period. I am thankful to all who have led and supported the Mission League activities in our region. I pray that all our activities share the true spirit of Mission League - Love, Sacrifice, Service and Suffering. I solicit your wholehearted involvement and earnest prayers. Let us promote Cherupushpa Mission League and encourage our children to do little things with great love and do ordinary things with extra ordinary love towards God. Cherupushpa Mission League calls us to become little flowers in the garden of heaven. Let us travel this journey together in love. Jai Jai Mission League Fr. Bins Chetthalil Regional Director, CML 5
