About Silvia Silvia Finiels is a French-born artist with a background in fashion design and antique dealing who has progressed into glass design after she moved to Venice in 1987. Over the years, Silvia has developed a personal approach to glass design and created a highly individualized expression through her art. Silvia’s journey in the field of glass design began with a fascination for antique and vintage Murano glass beads – mini-artifacts that had been created through sophisticated techniques that have now been forgotten. This led her to starting collecting glass pieces, while advancing her knowledge in glass production and glass art.

With a growing collection of valuable salvaged glass produced by Murano masters over the past century, and an in-depth understanding of the relationship between light and color, Silvia started creating collections of beautifully sculpted glass lamps. Silvia opened her own gallery in Venice in 2007 and launched Aventurina Design, her brand built on the experiences of her life journey and has since allowed her to pursue her passion of reinterpreting classic works of glass that lend an edgy elegance to contemporary light objects and fixtures.

Volumes and shapes, colors and textures are brought together to achieve striking contemporary harmonies that stem from combining new glass with vintage gems. Silvia’s glass sculptures incorporate glass objects once made for pionnering glass design houses such as Paolo Venini or Ettore Sottsas, highy sought after by savvy glass collectors. Each piece is a unique work of art.

Encouraged by wide-spread appreciation and interest from prestigious publications such Elle Décor, Architectural Digest or The Edge Magazine and eager to expand the reach of her art, Silvia has been exhibiting her lamp sculptures at the Venice Glass Week since 2018 and Milan Design Week since 2019. Her exhibition journey culminated when she was invited to showcase her work at the Murano Glass Museum. “In the exhibition at the Murano Glass Museum, Silvia Finiels highlight- ed how creativity always maintains a more or less evident link with the past, depending on the artistic interpretation. Tradition itself thus becomes not a limit but an inexhaustible source of inspiration. An important point of view that supports the theory according to which beauty is eternal and incorruptible by the inexorability of the temporal process.” Dr Chiara Squarcina - Director of The Murano Glass Museum

Silvia’s Collections

Palladio A tribute to the great Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, this collection has been inspired by the slender Venetian palaces he had designed. The collection inspired by Palladoi’s vision proposes lamps with rigorous and scenographic shapes, like the columns that add distinctiveness to the Venetian skyline. The glass used are elements recovered from the 60s and 70s with terminals similar to the decorated capitals that radiate bright colors softened by gold and aventurine hues.

Opéra A tribute to the Opéra National de Paris, to the world of theater, its exuberance and its wonderful performers. Glass pieces with sinuous and graceful silhouettes have been assembled to recreate the dancers’ tutus and enchant with rarefied hues and precious shades. The sculptured lamps of the Opéra collection are a manifestation of gratitude towards creativity and art.

Luce del Barocco With the Luce del Barocco collection, Silvia took inspiration from the 18th century Venice to pursue an artistic interpretation of the sophisticated grandeur of this legendary city through exquisite Murano lamps with a retro flavor. Curved surfaces of crystal spheres resembling ancient mirrors reflect an atmosphere rich in gold, amber, amethyst, silver and ivory, accented with intense green and blood red hues. These slender, sculpted silhouettes help us reimagine the noble and refined beauty of the Venetian palaces of the time.

Cabaret A collection created to pay homage to the femininity of cabaret icons, these glass sculptures are a riot of shapes and colors. Each lamp is the result of a reasoned design and careful reworking, to become an artistic object in which shapes, volumes and hues blend with light effects and enrich each other.

Ettore Memories Ettore Memories brings in a collection that focuses on creating small lights and suspensions in Murano glass with unmistakable shapes, led by daring geometric constructions and enhanced by striking color combinations. True to the spirit of Ettore Sottsass, a highly coveted Italian designer and architect of the 20th century, the use of material reflects his rebellious creativity centered around “the radical, funny and outrageous” that brought together elements of Art Deco with the color palette of Pop Art and Kitsch themes from the 1950’s and allowed him to explore and renew their potential

The Circus The fascinating world of circus has been consistently part of the creative universe extensively explored by the great Murano glassmakers and designers. In this collection, materials, colors, shapes, glass and metal have all been used to create playful, evolving and colorful characters that surely repre- sent Silvia’s creativity. The Circus collection speaks of glass and imagina- tion, of the desire to bemuse, mix and play with the elements to recom- pose, within a group, a presence, a soul. The artist says: \"Circus is my world, where I work and find a way to express my creativity in the present”.

Vision of The Invisible With Visions of The Invisible, Silvia pledges to highlight the extraordinary qualities of Murano glass, with the countless potential of its colors, materials and shapes that seem to defy the laws of gravity and reveal the mysterious pigments that change with light and time. In the playful manner that defines her creative process, Silvia embarks on an artistic narrative that follows the trail of Harry Potter, a famous character that leads us to discover the magic of glass.

Bespoke Projects Silvia is an edgy and resourceful artist who enjoys the challenge of undertaking bespoke projects. With a thorough approach towards the creative brief, Silvia has a unique ability to bring together glass, metal and light to create superb, attention-grabbing installations. Moreover, the value of her creations is consistently elevated by her ability to insert subtle heritage liaisons by combining historic glass pieces within contemporary interpretations.
