MERIDIAN MUN 2016: THE BEGINNING The highly anticipated Meridian MUN 2016 was set in motion by the opening ceremony held on 21st October 2016 at the Marigold hotel. The event was graced by the presence of the chief guest Dr. Y.V. Reddy, former RBI governor. Honorable Member of Parliament, Mrs. Butta Renuka; The Managing Director of the Butta group, Mr. B.S. Neelakanta; Principal and CEO, Dr. D. Usha Reddy and Ratan Kumar, Zonal Manager of the Central Bank of India were also present during the event. The school choir chanted an enchanting sloka as the prestigious ceremonial lamp was lit to invoke blessings from the almighty. A few students of the school put on a classical dance performance. The sound of the dancer’s anklets and the captivating music had the audience in a trance. After the performance ,Dr. D. Usha reddy addressed the audience. Her inspirational message to the youth was” Youth are the power of the future. So believe in yourself youngsters. Let us acknowledge and celebrate what you can do to build a safer and a more just world.” After her, Mrs. Butta Renuka voiced her thoughts whilst appreciating the efforts of the students who organized this huge event in spite of academic pressures. She said ”My dear students, your deliberation in this MUN will undoubtedly help you in preparing to face the manifold challenges of life. Your ability to convert every challenge into an opportunity will decide your future.” Then, the chief guest Dr. Y.V. Reddy took the podium and had an unique interaction with the audience. Excited delegates asked him several questions and he answered them with exceeding vim and zest. He was then felicitated by Mr. Neelakanta and Mrs. Renuka after which Mr.Ratan kumar spoke to the audience. Finally, Shagufta Syeda, Director General took to the mike and said “We have left no stone unturned in bringing you this mega-event. A lot of effort has gone into this conference and I am sure it will pay off.” Then, The Executive board of each committee was called to the stage and given their gavals.
