RRooootts ooff LLJJ Prof.B. M. Peerzada LJ University is an educational institution where every member is a learner and every day Founder and is an opportunity to create avenues for excellence in higher learning to transform oneself President, and others. We are a community of scholars and innovators who want to make the world a LJ University better place by inculcating right values, imparting right knowledge, developing necessary skills, nurturing the right attitude and reinforcing right habits in our students, teachers and staff members. At LJ University, we strive to provide opportunities to each student to comprehend and discover themselves and to face and overcome challenges presented to them to make their academic journey fulfilling and far-reaching. We take pride in helping our students grow and develop into sensitive, socially responsible and well-rounded global citizens.I wish all the best to our students for their future endeavours and may they scale greater heights and keep the LJ flag flying high as they tread ahead in the pursuit of excellence. L J University focusses creativity and innovation that are omnipresent in its ecosystem. These attributes are not confined only to academics but cut across the students' lives whereby they evolve as balanced human. This articulation is best reflected among the students of our School of Applied Sciences. They are nurtured in an environment where one thinks beyond the obvious, out of box. Since science is the key anchor of inventions, it ought to be internalized. To attain this goal, we at the L J, have attempted to create a learning culture and environment, backed by unique course designs and pedagogy. The students not only internalize theoretical underpinnings but are also intensively exposed to their applications. Our science students truly represent an Prof. Dinesh Awasthi inventive generation, bubbling with new ideas and impatient to try out new things. Vice Chancellor Failures do not deter them. Innovation has become a religion for them. The idea of L J University bringing the second issue of UDAAN itself indicates their 'quest for new and creative'. The expanse of themes and their layout in the Volume are commendable, and reflect spontaneity and creativity of the students. I congratulate and complement the editorial team of UDAAN for bringing out such an interesting issue. Dr. Manish Shah In pursuit of excellence, application of knowledge is the hallmark of LJ University. The Vice - President, mission of LJU is to maintain high standards with an absolute commitment to understand LJ University and improve educational pedagogy using contemporary relevant strategies, while focusing on student’s achievements and progress entirely. To achieve this, at LJU, industry based technical skills and hands-on training is provided to students to motivate and enhance their future employability to make them self-reliant.In today's competitive world, an amalgam of academic and co-scholastic activities is equally important to transform students into self- reliant and valuable citizens. Consequently, the opportunity for students to participate in self-organized events and programs provides a platform for them to learn what they cannot learn in the classroom, and this must be taken advantage of. We always encourage our students to not be afraid of failure but to work hard in order to achieve success and excellence.More importantly, we want students to take opportunities provided by the University in order to succeed and excel in their academic career and life. As a final thought, I appreciate the efforts put in by our wonderful team of students and staff for successfully launching the second issue of UDAAN. I wish that every student will discover and develop his or her innate potential, making the best use of it. 05

Dr.Viral Shah You develop skills and knowledge from various platforms, but where do Youth welfare you truly gain culture from? The students seem to be 'detached' from Director their teachers which isn't going benefit them in any way. The harmonious LJ University culture which should be established is sometimes misread by many and that is disappointing. Instead of taking the stakeholders for granted and not valuing their position and qualities they provide, one should develop ways to appreciate the same. There should be an informal environment among the students and the teachers, for them to understand what the student lacks. In addition, the stakeholders themselves have to portray an united upfront with positive mindsets, keeping in mind that this is not politics, its an academic atmosphere. We intend to promote a positive culture where all of us can grow hand in hand. What I always believe is that, \"Becoming an engineer culturally is more important than becoming an engineer skillfully.\" Personality is an integral part of ensuring one's success and growth in Dr.N.K Shah any field. As a student, it is very essential to develop an outgoing and Director, impressive personality for achieving success in future. To achieve this, LJIAS the student must actively participate in all the three kinds of activities performed at the concerned organization: - Curricular, Co-curricular and Extra co-curricular. The Youth Centre at L J School of Applied Sciences has been successfully providing the platform to the students for all the above three activities since 2018 where the students actively participate with great zeal. May the Youth Centre flourish and spread their wings across the LJ University. LJ University is well known for its academic excellence and dedication towards dissemination of knowledge in the academic world. In this pursuit, we are really proud and exuberant to publish the second edition of the annual magazine of LJ Institute of Applied Sciences - UDAAN, which will surely unfold the unraveled world of the most unforgettable and precious moments of the college. UDAAN also espouses the enthusiastic Sneha Tripathi young writers to put forth their ideas and thoughts which is indubitably a Udaan Magazine sincere attempt to shape and support their creativity. The recognition and Faculty Co-ordinator appreciation of student's achievements in the magazine will bring excellence to this treasure trove. I take this opportunity to congratulate all the team members as their contribution is the reason that makes this magazine endearing with our readers. 06

To The Dawn of a New Day Confused inside as I am fighting in strain, Naked reality to show me the way, The way to the beauty of world, Which is not going in vain. The struggle is proceeding, And we too have to proceed that way; To fight and not to stay. Let the feelings like loneliness and sadness, Halt in its halfway, and begin working on the future Which is waiting for us, In the dawn of a new day. Though this containment, is eating up our inner space, And shredding us, To never stand again. But for the sake, Of what beauty lies ahead, We must fight and neglect All gloom-ridden days. Just to hope for a, More brighter and a beautiful day. Better days aren’t far away from us, If we all be calm, and let not these days, Ruin everything and our inner space. Ronik Kejriwal 24

ALKALINE WATER A NEW BLESSING TO HUMAN HEALTH Alkaline water benefits include boosting immunity. Your immune system may help neutralise the acidity in your body, which is caused by poor diet, stress and environmental toxins. Alkaline water is said to have various minerals like magnesium and calcium, both of which are important for maintaining healthy bones. Alkaline water and its benefits are one of the newer trends to have made its way into the already overcrowded wellness and healthy eating world. Drinking Alkaline water, it is said, offers more health benefits than one. It helps slow down the ageing process, regulate pH levels of the body and prevent various chronic diseases. Alkaline water refers to neutralising acid levels in the body, which normal water cannot do. This controversial health practice has been argued over its use by many health experts. Let's find out what alkaline water is all about and if it's worth the hype. What is Alkaline Water? Does the theory of alkaline water really work? Alkaline water is water that has been ionized, which According to Mayo Clinic, regular water is best for most means the pH level of water has been increased. people, as there is no scientific evidence that The pH level is a number that measures how acidic fully verifies the claims made by supporters of alkaline or alkaline a substance is on a scale of 0 to 14. For water. According to a study published in instance, if the level is 1, it means the substance is the Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, very acidic and if it is 13, it is very alkaline. Alkaline alkaline water with a pH level of 8.8 may help soothe water has pH level of about 8 or 9 and pH level of acid reflux because the higher pH level kills pepsin, an normal tap water is 7, which is neutral. It is believed enzyme involved in breaking down food proteins that alkaline water helps people with excess acidity and a main cause of acid reflux. Another study as it helps neutralise the acid in the body; thanks to published in the Journal of the International Society of its alkaline nature. This process of neutralising acids Sports Nutrition has claimed that a significant in the body helps prevent various ailments. There difference in the whole blood viscosity after consuming are ways to increase the alkaline properties of water high pH water as compared to regular water after a by using special filters, faucet attachments and strenuous workout. According to a study published additives that raise the pH levels, making normal tap in the Shanghai Journal of Preventive Medicine, water go from neutral pH to Alkaline. drinking alkaline water may be beneficial for people who suffer from high blood pressure, cancer, high cholesterol and diabetes. 32

Benefits of Alkaline water Alkaline water has ultra-hydrating properties as compared to normal water. This can be a beneficial drink for people who work out on a daily basis and require more amount of water in their body. Scientifically speaking, the water molecules in alkaline water are smaller and more readily absorbed by your cells, which help your body re-hydrate quickly. 1. Radical generation. In case of urinary bladder stone, alkaline water accelerates the excretion of melamine and prevents its accumulation in the bladder, which in turn improves the pathological conditions associated with bladder stone. Alkaline water boosting immunity, immune system may help and neutralise the acidity in your body, which is caused by poor diet, stress and environmental toxins. 2. Alkaline water is containing various minerals like magnesium and calcium, both of which are important for maintaining healthy bones. 3. Alkaline water has many potent antioxidants that help prevent the growth of cell damaging free radicals in the body, which can further rush up the ageing process. 4. One of the most important benefits of alkaline water is that it neutralises the acidity in our body by lowering excessive acidic content in the stomach and gastro-intestinal tract. 5. Oral administration of alkaline ionized water causes a reduction in blood levels of glucose, cholesterol, and triglyceride which improves metabolic functioning by suppressing free radical production. It also protects pancreatic beta cells from oxidative damages. Alkaline water helps in reducing the rate of weight gain in obese by regulating cholesterol homeostasis. 6. Alkaline water has higher pH, its natural capacity of neutralizing acids in the stomach makes it a good choice for treating gastrointestinal tract disorders, like gastric hyperacidity, diarrhoea, etc. In cases of laryngopharyngeal and gastroesophageal reflux diseases, alkaline water has shown irreversibly inactivate pepsin and endopeptidase responsible for reflux disease, by neutralizing acid in the stomach. 7. In case of exercise-induced dehydration in healthy adults, electrolyzed alkaline water has shown to reduce the high-shear blood viscosity. Consumption of alkaline water has also shown beneficial effects in promoting longevity. 8. Besides potential health benefits of drinking alkaline water, bathing with it also improves skinrelated problems. Is there any Risk? 1. A proper quality control is essential to maintain its pH within physiologically acceptable range. 2. In humans, water with pH higher than 10 causes skin, eye, and mucus membrane irritation, induce gastrointestinal irritation. It also kills good bacteria present in the stomach. Ms. Ami D. of our SUN One of the most important rules in the whole The Sun shining is like the explosion of Universe is that everything has to come to an dynamites or burning off some fuels. It end. The Sun is the centre of our solar system converts hydrogen in its core into helium and and earlier in the 16th century, it was believed in this process it loses some of its mass that is to be the centre of the universe with all converted into energy by using Einstein's planets and stars orbiting around it. Hence it equation E=mc2. So what it does is fuse four has always been the centre of our attention protons (hydrogen nuclei) into one alpha for many years and why particle (single piece of helium nucleus). Also not? Its gravity holds the solar system together; it in this process, it releases provides heat, energy, light some energy plus two to our planet earth to positrons and two neutrinos. sustain life; generates So by releasing energy, the space weather. But as we sun keeps getting lighter. As got advanced in modern- a matter of fact, the sun is day astronomy, we became aware that there getting lighter by 4.26 million are innumerable stars in our Universe and metric tons every second. the Sun is just one of them. Sun is a perfect So from the mass-energy example of a G-type main-sequence star conversion rate, the sun (G2V, aka. “yellow dwarf”). releases the energy of about 4.26 million A particular lifetime of every star including our metric tons per second, which is equivalent to sun is characterized by its formation, main 384.6 septillion watts (3.846×1026 W). Our sun has been burning hydrogen at this rate ever since it formed (approximately 5 billion years ago), and it is expected to do so for at least another 4 billion years. After that, there will be no hydrogen fuel left. It will start the fusion of heavier elements (helium to carbon) from thereon. With its internal energy source shutting down, it cannot support its own weight, gravity will cause the core to collapse. As a result, the outer layer of the sun will blow up and it will become bigger and bigger turning our Sun into a red giant that will expand beyond the Earth's orbit. Once the fuel reserves are depleted, it will become unstable and its outer layers will be stripped off until all that's left is a cold, heavy core, that is surrounded by a bright planetary nebula. The fluorescent light of planetary nebula will last for about 10,000 years. With each passing day, this core will cool and fade hopelessly out of existence. Hence the Sun, most prominent feature of our solar system, whose energy and gravity once hosted the most beautiful planet on the universal canvas will shrink down to become a dying ember of a star, known as a white dwarf, but only a little larger than Earth. Stars that are more massive than Sun eventually becomes a neutron star by following a similar process. The most massive stars, with a mass over 20 times than our Sun will collapse to form black holes. Ms.Aditi Nag Assistant Professor Physics Department
