GOOD READSThe importance of language to mankind: Language is the ability to acquire and use complex systems of communication, particularly the human ability to do so, and a language is any specific example of such a system. Language is the divine gift of God. It is language that distinguishes man from animals. Language is man’s finest asset. To the philosopher, language may be the instrument of thought, for we think through language. Language is an extremely important way of interacting with the people around us. Without language we cannot communicate with people. As it is a vital tool for communication. We all know that we are living in a multilingual world that is becoming globalized and therefore, it is especially important to know more than one language. By learning more than one language, it could open many career doors, it can help us progress in our career, we can gain awareness of other cultures and it can increase our understanding and knowledge towards language. In today era, it is compulsory to learn at least 2 languages. Knowing language is not only a means of communication, but it builds economic relationships, friendships, and culture ties. Language is like a vehicle that we use in presenting our ideas, thoughts, feelings, and opinion to the world. As Chomsky proves the purpose of language by saying that “the purpose of language is for communication”. And this is how language is important to mankind. Greetings Eurolings! NEWS & VIEWS One of the most respected profession is that of a doctor. People respect and have complete faith in doctors whenever they are facing dreadful situations in their lives. In today’s challenging world, all of us are facing a difficult situation due to COVID pandemic. In this September issue of Cloud9 Newsletter of Euro School, Airoli. We are interviewing the well-known Pediatrician Dr. Prakash Vaidya (Child Specialist – M. D. (Bom), D.C.H from Mulund East. As a frontline corona warrior Dr. Prakash Vaidya is doing an incredible/great Many thanks to you Dr. work/job.Dr. Vaidya is running a child health clinic in Mulund East. during Vaidya for guiding us, for this COVID pandemic Dr. Vaidya is working selflessly around the clock for your valuable insights. We welfare of children like us. We as children / students look up to Dr. Vaidya shall heed your advice and as an idol /inspiration/motivation to become a responsible citizen of our stay safe and healthy. great natiQo1n.. Doctor, when did you decide to become a doctor and what inspired you? Back in those days, medical science was most respected. In fact, prior to Corona pandemic, medical science and doctors were being criticized unfairly and singled out for blame. But in my undergraduate days, doctors used to get a lot of recognition and respect. What made this profession more rewarding was the feeling of satisfaction that came from relieving the suffering of a human being. Q2. What are the challenges you face both in medical and personal space? It is a constant challenge to balance our family life & professional life. We also must make sure that our knowledge remains updated by attending seminars, conferences, lectures, by reading online study materials and reading from your books. So, all that really takes a large toll on our time & our personal life, but medicine demands that, & that’s why it is a very demanding profession.

Q3. As a corona warrior, you are leading from the front, and we salute you for the same. What do you think about virtual schooling today? While virtual schooling is nowhere near the experience of a normal school, I think currently we have absolutely no option at all. During my practice now, I realised that the number of children who fall sick has sharply gone down compared to the number during a normal monsoon season or a school time. So, this is mainly because children are not exposed to each other, & we always say that when the physical school reopens, due to huge exposure, COVID cases will go up. Hence, I think virtual schooling is necessary now for a long time to come. Q4. After reopening of the Physical school, what are the precautions should children/students take? I think we are not really close to reopening of schools but once they do reopen, we certainly cannot have the number of students present in one class. Maintain appropriate distance between two children, a mask will be compulsory always & any child with the slightest illness should never be sent to school. So, I think a lot of things will change. Sanitization should be done all the time & you have to quarantine or keep away children who have even minor problems. I do not think that field games will be possible for quite some time to come. Q5. What will you like to say to my little Euro friends who are dreaming to become a doctor in future? Please pursue your dreams as medicine is a very worthwhile profession. There are rewards such as material rewards (which should not be the important thing, because material rewards are not very great compared to other professions), and the rewards that you get in treating a sick patient & making him well. The joy of being a partner in their well - being & recovery, is a very tangible reward that adds to your happiness quotient. Q6. One last question. What is your message in general to people about maintaining good health? Good health does not have an instant solution. Good health must be earned, to be continued. It starts right from early life, and you should be regular in your efforts. You should not eat junk food as a child or as an adult; you should do regular physical exercise. You should not allow yourself to be stressed, be relaxed. So, these are the foundations of good health. If you are able to take care of these problems, probably you will lay the foundation of good health. In this manner, your immunity will be very strong and then you will not be prey to any disease. So, my message in general to people is that good health begins exceedingly early. Good health is a continuous process, you cannot just say I exercise for six months and then stop it. It must be an ongoing process, it has to be very regular, and it has to be part of your daily life. So good health must be earned & you have to put in efforts to maintain good health.

“Shaping Peace Together” is the mission of the International Peace Day, 2020 to be observed on September 21.In these difficult times of physical distancing, United Nations will dedicate this day to foster ideas and collect thoughts from all over the world, in the face of the pandemic. Our voice is more important than ever. It is our duty to unite and share our thoughts on how to weather this storm, heal our planet and change it for the better. So friends, let us collaborate and pledge to eradicate hatred and discrimination and help spread compassion, kindness and hope and make earth a peaceful place to live on. Harill Thakker Grade 4F

The world is masked since the past five months. We are unitedly fighting against a tiny, invisible virus which has captivated our lives and foiled our plans and routine. The need of the hour is to spread joy, harmony and acceptance towards people, animals, and trees. We need to unfurl the white dove which is the symbol of peace and represents “hope for peace”. Let us strive to create peace in our hearts and in the air…. The concept of peace has been beautifully depicted in the unique artworks by our friends. MOVING AHEAD Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality – Learn Beyond Imagination: Augmented reality (AR) is an interactive experience of a real- world environment, where the objects that reside in the real world are enhanced by computer-generated perceptual information, sometimes across multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory, meaning relating to or denoting a sensation which can occur anywhere in the body. Virtual Reality (VR) is the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment. Unlike traditional user interfaces, VR places the user inside an experience. Instead of viewing a screen in front of them, users are immersed and able to interact with 3D worlds. Difference between VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality) – 1. Augmented reality (AR) adds digital elements to a live view often by using the camera on a smartphone. Examples of augmented reality experiences include Snapchat lenses and the game Pokémon GO. 2. Virtual reality (VR) implies a complete immersion experience that shuts out the physical world by using a VR headset. Eg: Mixed reality portal in Windows 10, Houzz, IKEA Place, YouCam Makeup, GIPHY World, Google Lens, Pokémon GO!, Augment., ROAR, Amikasa, Etc.

WHAT IF SCIENCE  HAL [Hybrid Assistive Limb] was developed by the Tsukoba university and the robotics company Cyberdyne. It is designed to support and expand the physical capabilities of its users, especially the ones with physical disabilities.  HAL is the world’s 1st cyborg type robot by which a wearer’s bodily functions can be improved, supported and enhanced. The hybrid assistive limb is a powered exoskeleton suit controlling knee and hip joint motion by detecting very weak bioelectric signals on the surface of the skin. This study is to report the feasibility and benefits of patient-assistive HAL walking rehabilitation. HAL’S MOTION PRINCIPLE 1) Think - When a person moves the body, he or she first thinks about the motions in his or her brain. By thinking “I want to walk.” the brain transmits necessary signals to muscles necessary for the motions through nerves 2) Send - In the healthy body, each muscle is able to receive signals destined from the brain to it and move as strongly and fast as intended. 3) Read - Signals sent to muscles by the brain leak on the skin surface as very faint signals, so called “bio-electric signals [BES]”. HAL is able to read BES by only attaching the originally developed detectors on the surface on the wearer ‘s skin. By consolidating various information, HAL recognizes what sorts of motions the wearer intends. 4) Move - HAL, in accordance with the recognized motions, controls its power units. This function enables HAL to assist the wearer‘s motions as he or she intends and exerts bigger power than he or she ordinarily exerts. 5) Feedback - The mechanism to move the human body does not end up with only moving muscles. The brain confirms how the body moved on what sort of signals. When HAL has appropriately assisted the motions of “walking”, the feeling “I could walk!” is fed back to the brain. By this means, the brain becomes able to learn the way to emit necessary signals for “walking” gradually. This leads to “the important first step” in walking of the physically challenged person without being assisted by HAL. The only robot that can provide appropriate solutions for motions to the brain is HAL If production and usage of HAL went worldwide all people with physical disabilities could do things like normal people and can live life independently. This invention could bring light to the life of the disabled people which is priceless. What if production and usage of HAL [Hybrid Assistive Limb] went worldwide…

GLIMPSES – SUDHA’S CAR MUSEUM X-PLORED I visited Hyderabad in December 2019 We boarded a flight, reached Hyderabad and we checked into the with my family. I remember the sets at hotel. We rested for an hour and in the evening, we decided to begin Ramoji Film City, the lightings at our trip with a visit to the Hussain Sagar Lake. It has a magnificent Hussain Sagar Lake, the Shahi dressing view in the evening. We went to visit Ramoji Film City the next day. at Chowmahalla Palace, the portal gates We spent an entire day there gazing at the nooks and corners of this of Charminar, but most of all, the cars I iconic place. We were exhausted at the end of the day. This was saw at Sudha Cars Museum. followed by a visit Chowmahalla palace, where we enjoyed dressing up in Shahi costumes. It was time to go to Charminar where we bought bangles, rings and pearl necklaces. Finally, we visited Sudha’s Cars Museum, our last destination. It was the best amongst any of the above-mentioned places. On reaching there, the first thing I observed was the entrance gate, a small one. We bought tickets and the first attraction we saw was the 14 feet high tricycle. We clicked pictures with this enormous vehicle. There were more than 200 mannequins arrayed methodically around. This museum houses an enviable number of minibikes, cycles, buses and cars in all possible shapes and sizes. There are three galleries in the museum. The first one has replicas of race cars, cars and cycles that we normally see on roads. The second and third galleries had a collection of whacky designs like Basketball, Football, Desktop, Fountain Pen, Billiard’s Table, Flowers, Western Style Commode etc. to Bed, Brinjal, Shivalinga, Cameras, Saucer and Helmet. The most fascinating thing about these, according to me, was that they were all in working condition. I clicked numerous pictures here with all shapes of cars. Hyderabad was famed for pearls so, we bought pearl ornaments as souvenirs for our family and friends. This was a memorable experience.

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE Physical fitness or exercise improves our health and repels diseases. To be fit in the first requisite of happiness. Exercise is good for our mind and soul. It reduces stress, anxiety and depression. Due to the current situation we are not able to move out of our house and not able to do workout so we can do exercise at home with some play way methods that help us to entertain ourselves and help increase our immunity . Along with exercise we should even do some yoga practice. Exercises are like prose, whereas yoga is like poetry of movements. Once you understand the grammar of yoga, you can write poetry of movements. Today I will help you with some play way methods of exercising. • Hopping on your hop ball. • Throwing the ball on the wall and catching it back. • Dribbling the ball and counting for how many counts can you dribble it. • Playing hide and seek with your cousins and siblings at home. • Doing yoga using hula hoop. To ensure good health eat lightly, breathe deeply, live moderately, cultivate cheerfulness, maintain interest in life.

Literacy constitutes the backbone of development for any progressing country. It enhances the quality of life, awareness, and skills of people. The 8th of September was proclaimed ‘International Literacy Day’ by UNESCO in the year1966.UNESCO has been at the forefront of global literacy efforts since 1946, advancing the vision of a literate world for all. Literacy is also a driver for sustainable development, reduces poverty and expands life opportunities. Globally, however, at least 750 million youth and adults still cannot read and write, and 250 million children are failing to acquire basic literacy skills. To advance literacy as an integral part of their plan, UNESCO takes the following approaches to promote literacy worldwide. • Building strong foundations through early childhood care and education. • Providing quality basic education for all children. • Scaling-up functional literacy levels for youth and adults who lack basic literacy skills. • Developing literate environments. • Sponsoring education to the less privileged children in our society so that they grow up to be at par with blessed & privileged children like me & my friends. • Creating awareness of the hazards of illiteracy & working towards building a better future of our country. Being a citizen of India I would like to support & encourage this noble cause of literacy in whichever way possible.
