He passed away peacefully March 2018 at the age of 60. At a very young age Daniel starting collecting coins and from there his interests in antiques and collectibles grew. Soon afterwards, he helped a partner import antique clocks and furniture from England to Fresno and later went on bottle digs with friends. His interests went from coins and tokens to clocks and furniture and everything in-between. He regularly traveled around town to local antique dealers and browsed estate sales. He was a member of the Friends of the Fresno Library organization and shared his knowledge and finds with them and used the library to research about Fresno and the valley. His interests focused mainly in the Central Valley of California, collecting souvenir dishes, bottles, records (78,45,33 and cylinder), pictures, business memorabilia, books, postcards, photographs, lanterns, tools, and especially tokens. His primary passions were estate sales, collecting tokens and metal detecting. Finding a token while metal detecting was always a high point. Fred Holabird and his crew considered Daniel’s collection to be significant enough to warrant a trip from their headquarters in Reno, Nevada to Fresno, California. They are honoring Daniel by offering for sale his collection of tokens, coins, and some of his collectibles.
